November 2009 Mastectomy

I sure hope everything is okay with Marilyn! I don't know about you all, but I am glad some of us still come back and check in. Here's hoping for a good week!
-
Wouldn't it be great if we could get all of the November 2009 ladies to post an update? I think it would be a real encouragement to those facing surgery this year. But I'm sure some probably don't even come back to these boards.... It's good that they are busy and moving on though!
-
2Hands, I think that's a GREAT idea! We could always pm them and ask them to. Maybe as they think and "celebrate" the one year mark, they'll touch base with this site. Could you post an invitation for them to do that or something?.... OR maybe start a new thread with that title??? After all, you were the author for our site. ;-)
-
Thanks for the encouragement! I had thought about starting a thread, but thought maybe it wasn't important. Since you had the same idea, I started one under the Surgery Forum - called "One Year after Surgery!!!" I like your idea of PM'ing those on this November list, so I'll try to do that. If you have any suggestions about wording the beginning text better, I can go back and edit it.
-
It's a good, appropriate title.

Happy Thanksgiving a day late. I hope you all enjoyed your day yesterday with family and Friends.
I have been thinking about where I am this year compared to last year at this time and it gives me a lot to be thankful for. Next Wednesday is my MX 1 year anniversary I cant believe it has been a year.
I am doing good been through a lot since last year as we all have.
I do want to say that just because I do not post on this thread regularly it does not mean I don't think about you all.
Hugs,
Rebecca

Christmas Blessings to each of you!
-
Merry Christmas, November MX group!
We officially have one year under our belt!
God bless!
-
Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and wishing you all many blessings during the coming year. It's always special to have you check in and update us - here or on the One Year after Surgery thread!
-
Had a nice Christmas and New Years and am ready for warm weather again! Hope everyone is well and ready for a new year full of wonderful "firsts" ... first January without chemo etc... I think you all get the picture. Have a great day!

-
Great to hear from you, Leslie! Hope 2011 brings many more "firsts" for you! I'm sure you are ready for some warmer weather! But that will be at least April, or May? Maybe a trip to California is a great "first" to plan! We can expect warmer weather by mid-February....... and our cold is a low of 36 and a high of 45!!! We sometimes get colder but not for long, and often even 60 during the winter days! Doesn't a trip sound better and better? Wouldn't it be fun for several of us to meet somewhere warm?????
-
HI Leslie, Good to hear from you!
What state are you in again? 2Hands, you don't have to rub it in about the CA weather, ok? ;-)
I live in Atlanta and our winters are not brutal, but this year...snow twice already! We had the first white Christmas here since 100+ years!
Well, I'm glad the 3 of us are doing well. ;-)
-
Hi dmorgan2! I live in the wonderfull economically depressed hell called Michigan!
Right now we are under a lake-effect snow warning and so far it has produced nothing here. Anyway it is just plain cold! Wish I was back in Virginia for that warmer weather. Did you like your White Christmas? I guess that really put people in a tailspin, huh? When we lived in Virginia if we got just a dusting of snow, which didn't happen that often, people would pour into the grocery store and stock up. Pretty funny. I bet that happens in Atlanta, too. Hope you are having a nice start to the new year. I keep coming to our little section here to check in on everyone and glad to see at least some of us are still able to check in with one another. Hopefully will hear from more, that would be nice too! Talk to you soon.
~ Leslie

Sorry---dmorgan. We are really spoiled with our weather and I'm afraid we often take it for granted!I had forgotton, or never knew, that you were in Atlanta! Wow! Were you in the midst of the snow storm last week? We knew of friends on their way to Florida. They had to stay in a hotel due to the terrible conditions. Never heard how long they had to stay, or if they were still there through the next storm too!! What are the current conditions where you are?
So nice to have you staying with us, Leslie! We love having current updates, or just general conversations! Michigan has always sounded cold to me! How much snow do you have now? We change planes in Minneapolis sometimes and always enjoy browsing in the gift shops - moose, mosquito size, - all so different from here!!!!! Hope you enjoying this quieter (????) time after the holidays!

Hi 2Hands- Yes, the weather in ATLanTa has been unreal! Thick ice--all schools cancelled for a week. So I didn't have to go back to school all this week, which has been great to rest and get more work done in prep for a new semester starting! I have loved it! Today was the first day I got out in fact after almost a week! It's been great for the family to just be together and not going in different directions all the time! Anyway...back to the grind next week. ;-)

Hi Nov. 2009 MX group--'Wanted to let you know that "MsMarilyn" has had 2 heart attacks this week.Right now she's in the hospital. She has been through so much! If you're a praying person, let's support her with our prayers.
-
So sorry to hear this! It must be so difficult for her family, too. Her attitude is so great, and her faith shines clearly. May God continue to be near all of them and help her to overcome this one more complication. He is able! May God's will be done in their lives. Please keep us posted!
-
Such terrible news! I will keep her in thought and prayer. Keep us posted.
-
She's back home now. They put in 2 stints (spelling?). She "sounds" a lot better now that she's back home. She had a hard time in the hospital.
-
How is everyone doing? It's now been 2 years since my first surgery. Again, the date I thoiught I'd never forget - just came and went. Life in general is busy and requires much of my concentration to keep up with the boys (schedules, questions, decisions), tutors, friends, church, and the daily or weekly household chores and yardwork. I'm thankful for God's blessings and guidance and for my returned energy.
I'm actually loosing weight - thanks to God's guidance and motivation and the finding of the E-Lab project started by Meece. The point system really motivates me to SEE my progress and try for more points. And as a result - my blood sugars are down, my blood pressure is down, and my doctor didn't even question me staying off of meds! Now if I can just keep going.......
One step at a time. God IS in control!
-
Hi 2 Hands - just got back from the hospital...got my port removed today - YEAH!!! All here is well, trying to keep busy - daughter in AAU volleyball and just submitted financial aid info for my son for college next year. Keep up the good work on the weight loss. I still have not found the trick for me to losing weight. I do need to find it, and quickly too. Have a great rest-of-the-week!

Come join us on the E-Lab project! There are teams, but I'm still in the holding team. The point system is great. It has really helped me focus on the water that I knew I should drink, but never found time. And I go to Curves and doubled my time since I'm there already anyway. It's as fun as "exercise" can be and I really like it that it works on strengthening all muscle groups in addition to the cardiac workout. Yet it is individualized for YOUR pace, not the next gal. I'm sort of competing with myself on the E-Lab project - I wanted more points so my goal was to increase my points by 2 from the previous week. Except that you don't know about the 2 points for weight loss until you weigh in on Friday morning!
Anyway ~ you're welcome to check it out. For me, sometimes I need to wrap my mind around the idea! Now that I get points for NOT eating unhealthy things, or for DOING healthy things, it's easier to say "no" to the unhealthy things, or yes" to the healthy things! And when I did eat pie last weekend - it was so-o-o-o sweet that I didn't even like it! WOW! That's amazing for me!
-
Updates anyone? I think of you often. I'm doing fine, busy as ever, mostly back to normal energy. I've been losing weight with the "E-Lab" point system. We have a busy summer coming up with various activities. Hope everyone else is doing well also.
-
Hi! I thnk of this group often too. I am doing well!...go every year for a normal mammo, check-up, etc.

Good to hear from you! It's nice to hear the good report. Any news from Marilyn? She hasn't updated her blog in some time and I don't have Facebook.....
-
Hey! I keep telling you to get FB !! ;-) Marilyn writes on it just about daily. I think I told you Marilyn went through a lot of heart issues, was in the hospital, etc. She's doing okay right now.
-
I know, I know. I'm just not convinced it's that necessary! I'd like to keep up with certain people, I'd like to see certain pictures posted by friends of their children etc. but......
And then there's time! I barely have time to follow BCO!
Thank-you for letting me know that she is OK and posting!
-
2Hands- I just wrote you.
