Congratulations to your graduating grand-daughter and all your other talented grandchildren! I'm sure they appreciate your support. I'm just thinking of all the weddings you'll be dancing at and they'll want you there for all of them!
thegood5 and hdangelbaby - yes! I'm craving protein (and calories in general) like never before! I asked my RO's nurse about this and she doesn't think it's connected. I started Anastrozole (generic Arimidex) the same week I started rads which might also be a candidate as the culprit in my case. I'm taking a pass at the cravings for the 3:00 pm cravings for frozen yogurt but am loading up on protein every meal.
-
No cravings on my part, besides my normal chocolate cravings
-
I started a vegan diet 3 months ago, had no problem with cooking meat for the DH and not wanting it. I'm 20/33 and I could eat a whole cow, right now!!!! Weird. I had salmon instead, still animal, but better than the whole cow! I'm triple neg so no meds - so rads must be it? Good thing he's going on the road for a month!! lol.
-
i put nuts in my salad tonight (protein) and made not only sausage , but shrimp too in my jambalaya!
i wish i could eat a bloody ribeye every night right now!!!
-
Did #19 today.................still hanging in there............took Ricotta cookies to the techs, and they went nuts over them..............imagine that was without tasting them...........they are such great people, I had to do something for them.............My son plans on doing something "big" for them at the end, but I wanted to say "thanks" sooner...........
Mark, my only male tech, with gorgerous blue eyes, and about 27 said to me.......what is Ricotta...I told him "you know the cheese they put inside Ravioli's.......he said "yea", I said well that is the same cheese only you put it in cookies....................he said ...........well then that means they are "healthy"...................I said ...............yea, if you don't count the 1/2 lb of butter, and 2 cups of sugar.................that got a laugh.
Also ladies.........I won another $9.00 today on my scratch offs............So now I'm up to $50.00 in winnings..............not bad.
-
duckyb1 - something tells me your techs are going to miss you when you're done with all this.
-
ducky, will you be my mom?!? lol Your children are so lucky to have such a strong, compassionate mom!
-
# 28 today.....5 boosts ..then I am done.I don't think my underarm could take much more....very red and sore
Have a good day Ladies:)I
-
i've been done with rads for 2 weeks today, still have the "tan" on my boob. i also had 2 spots, 1 at my collarbone and the other at my armpit, that blistered during the final days of treatments that have now healed. i was also real tired during those last few days and that passed after 1 week. it gets better, easier, but it is very strange to not be actively in treatment anymore. I don't have to see my MO until August and just have to stop into the RO in June for a skin check.
GabbyCal i'm on Anastrozole too hoping that I don't start with any of the side effects. i finally just lost the steroid and water weight gain from chemo. but i do have that red meat craving thing, i never thought i would see that day that i would pass by the chocolate for a juicy hamburger-LOL
-
Ladies - I am doing the HAPPY DANCE because today I am FINISHED with radiation - no surgeries for me so I am DONE, DONE, DONE!!!!!!!!!
I had tears streaming down my face as the last of the boosts hit me, and I was worried about my positioning as I couldn't stop my chest from heaving with emotion. Maybe that sounds overly dramatic, but these emotions are uncontrollable sometimes, as you well know. The techs were very understanding, and I had to take several moments to compose myself in the changing room before venturing outside. Stopped at the grocery store on my way home, bought a $2 scratch ticket (won my $2 back with it), and got a big variety pack of Mike's Hard Lemonades. Don't tell my bosses, but I am drinking a limeade at 9:30 in the morning while getting in a 1/2 day of work!
I may take a little break from this board, and try really hard not to think about cancer for a few days at least. I have tomorrow off, and I'm spending it with my sister, having lunch and shopping for more "back to traveling for the company" clothes, since I've lost about 15 pounds and have been working from home since December.
I'll be checking back in soon, but until then ladies, I wish you all painfree progress and as many hugs as you need.

We will miss you on here, but totally understand your needing a break!
-
AimeeMac -congrats!!!!
I'm very happy for you to be done. When you do get back to the boards, let us know how your skin is healing.
Kim - glad to hear the tiredness passed after about 1 week, that is definately my biggest issue right now.
4 more to go for me!
-
kal1865
what did you put on your underarm to heal it?
-
amieeMac
We are all doing the Happy dance with you!
Hugs
-
AmieMac.....................congrats, can't wait to be where you are...............I'm very happy for you................another battle won.
-
Just got back from my rads. consult and found out I'm going to have to do 7 weeks instead of 5. I have also started Femara. Starting to get a little down but I know some depression is normal. How much is normal? I've done pretty well up until now and today it hit me like a train.
-
Congrats AmieMac!
Rohanna - I give myself a pity party evening once a week of so, no rules, no diet, no matter what!!! Sometimes we just have to cry little bit, to laugh a litter harder the next day. Sending you lots of hugs!
-
Hi everyone!!!!
Congrats Aimee!!! I know just how you feel.
Feels weird not to have to get up every morning and get zapped.
I am 1 week and 2 days post rads and my underam looks a little better, not much but a little. My collarbone burned too like kal_1865's did. That spot doesn't want to heal yet. Sigh.
Anybody else dealing with a weird rash? 2 days ago I came down with a rash that looks like a heat rash above the rads area and below the rads area. It doesn't itch, I put some hydrocortizone cream on it for the last 2 days and it doesn't affect it.
So glad to hear you had so much fun Ducky. We all need to have some fun!
Hubby and I went to the Y today to join up. Will be fun to go together and get some exercize in and do some water aerobics.
Also went to the recording studio today and watched my dh record some of his songs. Fun to watch it all transform into a song.
Well, been a long day so far girls - night all. HUGS!!!!

Yaaaaaaayyy, Aimee!!!! Thank you for sharing your good news! And sagina, I have decided to give myself permission to be blue one night a week. Thanks for the suggestion and understanding.
-
angel baby and the good 5: me too! I am a vegetarian, but have cheated a few times (once with prime rib and then with chicken a couple times). Definitely think it's the protein and maybe the iron as well.
-
Aimee: I am so, so happy for you! I'm almost there, and seeing your reaction to your last tx made me wonder how I will fair. I've made so many connections and bonds there, I don't want to leave
I won't mind not getting zapped, but I will miss everyone! One thing i am trying to keep in mind is that treatment doesn't end for those of us who are triple negative, we just have to go the natural route and try to eat healthy and get in shape. I'm seeing that as my next round of treatment!
#30 done, 6 more to go!
-
walley you asked about the "burns" my RO prescribed a cream for the last week of my treatments.Clobetasol it is a corticosteriod, i used it daily for the last 3 weeks. the only product my RO would let me use up until then was Lansinoh, a 100% lanolin and i have to admit the 2 spots that i was not applying were the ones where i had problems and needed the clobetasol. during treatments i also bought t-shirts, my local CVS had short sleeve fruit of the looms in colors 5/$10-the lansinoh was very goopy, but did absorb pretty quickly.
just let me say to everyone, that i feel physically better every day...
-
Thank you, Kim! That is really good to know. I feel I've hit rock bottom today #30/36 :-(
-
Gina: Glad you were strong and went for the salmon. Salmon actually helps me when I am feeling drained. Trying to stay away from the meat and not give in to the cravings...
-
Happy Friday everyone!! and enjoy the 2 days off. This week has gone very slowly for me, I think it is because I am near the end and where before I would only count how many left at the end of the week, this week, I seem to be counting every day. Still very tired. Only 3 left, including later today.
Have a busy weekend also, Girl Scout dinner dance with dd tonight, tomorrow into NYC to pick up our bridesmaids dresses and tomorrow night DH is taking me out to dinner to celebrate the end of Rads (early). thow in a couple baseball games and church and I don't think my fatigue will get better this weekend, he he.

Kal1865
Thanks for the reply.I got a script from the doctor, hope it works.I am glad for the weekend break from treatment.I start boosts today.Five of them. Then I am done......:)Have good weekend everyone! Hugs to all!
-
have a great weekend everyone...off to the woods camping!!
-
Sammolisa~ I'm noticing if I start to get a little warm, just simple stuff like cleaning the kitchen floor - not really breaking a huge sweat, I"m getting a weird rash on my arms, but it itches. I also have the one on my back that the RO said is unrelated to treatment.....I don't thinky so.
-
Hang in there, April ladies! The boosts are definitely easier to tolerate & the fatigue seems to be lessening.
I am now officially DONE with rads & DONE with active treatment. (WooHoo!) Tamoxifen is next & I have my first stage of recon surgery booked for 2 months from now, port removal is also scheduled. My skin held up except for under my arm, which is very red, tough & weepy. Doesn't hurt, though.
Best wishes & hope you all are done soon too!!
