"Last Login" feature is not working

This isn't a huge issue, but I noticed a few days ago that the discussion board's "Last Login" feature is not working properly.  If I go to certain BCO members' profile pages, the dates listed as their most recent login dates are not correct.  Here are 3 examples:

"kira" posted today (May 15) at approximately 7 a.m., but her "Last Login" is shown as May 12, 2011.

"CoolBreeze" posted 5 minutes ago, 10 minutes ago, and 5 hours ago -- all on the afternoon and evening of May 15; but her most recent login was supposedly May 8, 2011.

"apple" posted 6 hours ago -- at approximately 1 p.m. this afternoon (May 15); but according to her profile page, she has not logged in since April 16, 2011.

I'm assuming that members still have to login before they can post on the Boards. I'll also admit that not having the "Last Login" be correct doesn't affect the function of the Boards.  But, I use that "Last Login" to check up on my friends here -- to find out if they're okay, and learn what's going on in their lives.  I worry when it looks as if someone hasn't logged in for quite awhile.  Others do, too, as was clear from the "We Miss Beesie" posts a few weeks ago.

Anybody know why the "Last Login" might not be working properly?

I think it's because we are not being logged out when we leave the board, go offline or even shutdown our computers.

I don't know about anybody else but I keep forgetting to log out ... so I probably show as last logged in several days ago too?  I'm going to go look.

Edited to add:  yep I haven't logged out for awhile.  There is a 'last seen' column to the far right though if you use the Member List Search feature that will tell you when somebody was here last.

Hmmmm... Will need to look into this. Thanks WhiteRabbit for the help.

    I think WhiteRabbit is right.

I'd forgotten that the BCO system no longer logs us out when we leave the site, close our browser, or turn off our computers, like it used to do.  Now I guess it's possible to stay logged in forever ... so the "Last Login" date is correct even if it seems to be several weeks old.

Thanks, WR -- I keep forgetting about the Member List search function.  I think it provides even better information than what I was trying to find when I checked "Last Login" on the member profile pages.

Moderators, the "Last Login" does seem to be working correctly after all, so I'll retract my concern.

I clean my cookies every night before I shut down and have to log on every day.

Well, Blue, I try to eat my cookies every night, right before I go to bed.  I usually have a glass of milk with 'em, too.

[Edited to add:  At the end of the day, I do log out of BCO and FB and everywhere else I've been, just to keep the countryside nice and tidy.  Then I have a cookie.]

LOL!  I eat one too but I have a cup of camomile tea with it.

Otter, download Ccleaner and it will clean all the junk one accumulates while surfing the web.  It will also log you off any sites you visited unless you add them to the safe list.  It's free!
