Roll call: TCH for 6 cycles (every three weeks). Completed 2 so far. Herceptin for 1 year

Sudzinvermont - mine too felt as if I had in a too tight ponytail for too long! That's a great description!

Ginger - I have been working every day, but usually 2 days after chemo, I find myself putting down my head on my desk from total exhaustion. I think working and keeping my mind going helps me through it.

jackifp -yes! Hearing loss - so weird! I find myself saying, "what? huh?" What is it??!!

pawprint - I love tha tyou work with furry creatures! I lost my 18 year old cat right before I was diagnosed, but I am getting another kitty end of June - can't wait!!

Neulasta pain - use claritin! It works! Take one a day beginning on the day of the shot, then for a few more days. Helps me so very much!

Anyone try Metromint? I feel like I am drinking mouthwash! I hate this disgusting taste in my mouth. Anyone find something that works?

Ok I am doing my shopping for Monday post chemo.  I hate the metallic taste.

What is Metromint?  Also the coconut water?

    Thanks

I like metro mint -9. Feels good on the  hot belly. I keep it in the bathroom and when I go I replenish with 10 gulps each time. Metro mint is mint water, it comes in flavors as well as degrees of  coolness. Malox sipping is helping with the  metal mouth for me.

    Hi all you amazing women,

I am in the post chemo #2 funk. I feel so bloated anything out there that helps with that? My belly feels like it could burst. LOTs of gas. The emend did work very well, along with more decadron pills on day 3 and 4 and pepcid pills. No vomiting this time but still very nauseaus. I'm hoping to work tomorrow. Today at church, very obvious with my scarf on my head that I'm in chemo, a greeter told me she was a 12 year survior and proceeded to tell me she never go sick because she didn't have anyone to whine to. The things people say are unbelievable. I do hope I remember when I am a survior that I don't talk about my story, but remember to listen and ask questions on how that person is feeling. Its not about them. Does anyone else know what I mean. I just nod my head and smile because I know their intentions are good. But a lesson I will take with me if and when I do speak to someone going through this after I'm on the other side. It happens to me all the time, people want to go on and on about what they went through, not really too interested in what I'm going through,

Also, here's a super week for all of us. We are strong warrior women and fighting the very good fight. also, down and want to share today my  son left for germany, then soon to Afganistan. 1LSt in the army infantry. I know he's doing what he was trained to do and wants to do but the thought of not seeing him again for quite some time breaks my heart. Please keep him and our soldiers in your daily prayers. thank you

RANGERMOM: I will for sure put your son in my prayers. I can also relate with you all on having frustrating days.Today has been one of those.I have four sisters that live out of state. When I first told them I had cancer they called all the time now they just ask my Mom how I am when they call her. I don't know about the rest of you but money is a big issue since Ive gotten sick. Lack of it that is. ha. It seems we can barely keep above water since gas prices have risen. I know one day when this is over and I get hair again one thing I do intend is when I see a woman without hair Not to look at her like I feel so sorry for her like everyone does me everywhere I go. Hope all you ladies who have treatments this week do okay I go wed. again for #4 of 12 taxol/ herceptin. If my feet and legs would quit hurting I would feel a little blessed today. ha.Okay enough of my bitching for today.

Rangermom, my heart goes out to you, my son returned from Afg. in Feb. it was such a difficult time for me as a mom. I pray for all our military everyday, and your son as well. We appreciate the sacrafice they make for us!

Pawprint, unfortunately I know what you mean about the friend thing, sad to say.

Chemo week for me, and best wishes and big hugs for all you girls, be strong, we are warriors!!!

Ranger mom,  hugs to you. I am holding the image of your son in the light of this beautiful full moon we are experiencing.

Also,  Phazime is working for the bloating for me and you can buy it over the counter. I have been on it all week as a preventative because last treatment went so badly with gas and bloating.

I also can not believe the dumb things people say sometimes. There is is  whole forum on BCO. The one I hate the most is " Oh, I lost my .....to BC" Really? Do I want to hear that? How the hell is that a helpful statement to anyone going through treatment? UG!

Anyone reading this that wants to know what to say: How about " Well, I  am here for you, and will help in any way I can." that is when we feel the love. Am I right ladies?

I stop them now, and say if it is not a happy ending, I don't want to hear it.

And yes, you will find out who loves you, who will step up and  gives more than lip service.

Wow, I've missed a lot!  Welcome to the new folks!  Sorry to hear about the problems some of you have been having.  I didn't get my treatment this week.  I have been having palpitations (which I have off and on normally due to mitral valve prolapse).  The weekend before I was scheduled for chemo I was having them frequently and didn't feel well at all.  Of course I felt fine when I was sent to the cardiologist.  However to be on the safe side they are putting me on a Holter moniter this Wed and then follow up with a echo a couple days later.  If everything checks out ok, which hopefully it will I will resume the chemo.  I'm also wishing I never clipped my hair off because my stubble is still hanging in there!

Rangermom -- My son is a US Marine and in the "STAN" right now. This is his 3rd deployment and his final deployment. He comes home in the fall and then his time is up a month later.

I still have some of my stubble too but noticed this morning, 5 days post tx 2 that when I rubbed my head after my shower, there were lots of little stubble pieces on my microfiber towel.  Yuck!  Scalp is sore again, too.

Woke up today to fingertips that look like they've been soaking in water all night.  Anyone have any suggestions?  No amount of hand cream seems to help.  They are so ugly!

Axtella, RangerMom and Ginger - congratulations for raising such fine young men!  Glad one is home safe and will pray the other two will soon be as well.

    Carylc

I  have a  hot wax machine that I have been using for my fingers a few times a day. First I slather on coconut oil then I dunk my hands and let the wax set on for 5 minutes or so. It really seems to help for me. Also the hand sanitizer I use is Gold Bond and it has a nice moisturizer in it. For washing I have Jergens hand soap in a pump at the the sinks. It has a moisturizer in it. Good luck, and hugs, this stuff requires bring self care way up. Which is something I plan to continue after treatment, we deserve it after this.

I've been using the Gold Bond sanitizer too, which also seems to help me. The skin on my hands and nails has been peeling off in sheets. I also use Gold Bond Ultimate, it's a really thick lotion that stays on for a while.

Atrie, Geo and Axtella, I have the stubble too!  It seems like it is growing back. You can say that again Axtella- what the heck??

Has anyone had problems with dry eyes? My eyes have been bugging me the last few days. I tried GenTeal eye drops, but they aren't helping. Any suggestions?

Well the off balance thing got me this morning and I took a fall on the cement steps. Gave myself a fat lip. Lovely...I hope my face does not bruise. I put Ice on for an hour and it seems to have helped. Other than that just a skinned knee.  Now I feel the need to dress in all pink today Just to feel feminine lol. Sheesh!

God bless all you moms with sons in the service. I appreciate the kind words. My week after chemo has really sucked! No vomiting, well except once, with Emend but not good either. I feel like I'm going to crash at my desk. Went home early from work yesterday and slept through the night till morning. Merilee - sending you mega healing to your body. So sorry about the fall. We are all off our balance arent we. Everyone please try to get an extra hour of sleep tonight. Love to all
