Anyone adopted a child after BC?

I'm still in treatment, but the hope of adopting a child after being NED for year is keeping me positive. However, I have been researching adoption agencies and all seem to specify "healthy" as criteria for adoption. So is being a stage III survivor considered "healthy"? I know this could vary from agency to agency, just wondering if anyone else here has been in a similar situation and what their experience has been. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Our third child was adopted from China but we adopted her years before bc.  I would call a few agencies and find out what the criteria is.  It might be a letter from your doctor stating you are in good health or it might be some other criteria.  We used Holt and loved them.  Hopefully someone will come along and answer your questions.

BTW- adopting our daughter was the best thing we have ever done.  :)

I can't believe I'm mentioning this but Sheryl Crow adopted two boys after her BC.  Maybe you can call her and ask for advice. ;)   I wonder if caaclark is right. Maybe they need to know that you have completed active treatment. Can you ask a lawyer or a third-party group that's not one of the agencies? i.e. are there consumer-advocacy groups or gov't agencies related to this?
