What Does This Mean?

So I've had a lot of blood taken and my calcium is very high.  So is my phosphorus.

What does high calcium indicate?  And doesn't phosphorus usually go lower when the calcium is high?  What does high phosphorus mean?

Where can I find some information on this to help explain it?

    As far as I know, and please don't panic, a really high calcium can mean a thiroid related problem, but in some case can be elevated with bone mets.

    Hi 37antiques, high calcium and high phosphorus can mean that your calcitrol (active form of D3) level is down.  Your body needs the D3 to stimulate the absorbsion of both calcium and phosphrus both in your GI tract and your renal organs.  You may also need your PTH (parathriod) levels checked as well.  All of these work together.

    Thank you girls, all the info I can get is helpful.  I had a boatload of blood taken, kidneys and thyroid are fine.  Don't worry Nikki, I don't panic about having anything, it's the unknown I struggle with.  Everything else must have looked ok, the doctor asked me if I drank a real lot of milk, but I don't touch it if I can help it (yuk!). I do take vitamin D when I remember to, just because the sun doesn't shine where I am.
