Gina...our pinkest of pink pals...please know we are here for you!  I'm very glad your getting the other breast removed...I don't know if you're on tamoxifen or if your tumor is even estrogen positive but I hope moving forward they will treat you chemically as well as surgically attempt to arrest this intruder in it's tracks!

You're very strong and brave Gina!  You can do it!   We love you!  And I'm very glad that Robin is there for you (Thank you Robin!)

Sending you positive thoughts from Team January (Team May just doesn't sound right!)

Gina, I can't even begin to imagine the emotions you must be feeling right now.  You seem to have the right attitude though and things are moving very quickly.. So good that you like your surgeon and were able to get in to see both him and the oncologist so soon. We are all here for you cheering you on.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

You ladies are just wonderful....I can feel your love and support for Gina just busting through this computer screen.  Hope Gina doesn't mind - I don't think I'm stealing her thunder here, but she reports to the hospital this coming Tuesday at 10, gets the SN prep/dyes done at 11, and surgery is scheduled for 2pm.  (As some background, she had an MRI done six months ago, and NOTHING showed up at all...this time a small IDC did show up, so we're hoping and praying that it was caught early enough that it hasn't affected her nodes!  She stopped taking tamoxifen after a couple of months last year because of how TERRIBLE it made her feel!!)   I'm so glad she was able to get in to the BS right away this afternoon....and already get this surgery scheduled.  AND I'm glad we didn't know about this this past Friday while we were celebrating survivring at the Oaks....but Gina said her gut feeling told her something wasn't right.

And aren't our gut feelings right most of the time?

Anyway, if it's ok with her, I'll keep you all updated until she's able to get back on .....

love and prayers to each of you.....blessings...robin

Gina-I'm heartbroken that you are having to go through this again.  But I'm also confident that you and the doctors have made the best decision to remove your other breast.

You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I will be saying an extra prayer for you and your surgeon on Tuesday.

Hi! {{{{{Gina}}}}} Thinkibng of you and hope all goes well. Liking your surgeon iss the best part... ou will be in my prayers with all our other sisters.

Well just came back from my MRi on both breast... Yes I know it's friday the 13th.. I don't care about that, nothing is more worst then being diagnosed on Christmas Eve. So  I'm on the table for about 1 hour and they tell me that the machine broke. Something with fatstats... The compression part of the test... I have to go back on Thursday when the GE rep is there... WTF.....Now I'm pissed....My back went into spasm after being on the table that long...I want to cry... It was bad enough that I had to do this. Now i have to do it again..I'm sorry that I am ranting. There are others that have more to worry about. To all my sisters, You are in my pray from morning to night.. Talk to you soon... Going to take a pell or a glass of wine.

    Donna

P.S. Any of my others sisters have their MRI's yet? Please inform what I need to know. Thanks.

Oh, for Pete's sake. (highly edited as first several reactions needed to be toned down for posterity's sake.) So glad that you have a place to have a mini-rant. There are moments when it just it too frustrating to imagine.

Hate for the delay in your 'back to regular life' and that you have to spend more time in the waiting zone -- where our imaginations can get over-used.

    ((((((((((((((((((Gina)))))))))))))))))))

I hated so many of the 'well meaning' sentiments that were expressed when I was forced to go back to the drawing board -- so to speak. The second time around is not easier in any way what-so-ever, just because you've been down that road earlier.

I don't know what I wanted anyone to say.... that there ever was any 'right' thing -- that anyone could possibly have said. I guess I just wanted the occasional listening ear and the periodic rant. I did get tired of people telling me that I was "so brave" and equally tired of hearing, "you did it once, you can do it again."

I think for me the hardest part was from folks I barely knew who said, "but, I prayed for you -- how could it be back?" I really felt like I had "failed" by having it return. Bizarre of course, but that's how I felt at the time.

In any case, Gina & Donna..... we are all so very mortal. All the feelings we have are so genuine and need to be expressed and felt and then "dismissed."

    Now I'm just rambling.

It just feels like time for a big Jan-group-hug.

    xx00xx00xx00xx

Sally we are up in Cleveland with my hubby's extended family.... our last chance to be with them for a l-o-n-g time. Tomorrow's the first Columbus Komen I've missed in years. Odd. Hope the weather is gorgeous and your family has a great day celebrating YOU!!!!

Well, it's been a long time, but I'm glad I've checked in, though not for any good news...

Gina, I'm so sorry you're having to go through this again. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I, too, don't know what to say in situations like this. I received a note from someone not all that close to me just after my diagnosis. She said, "this sucks and I'm sorry it's happening to you." Not delicate, just straight to the point. It hit home for me, and it's exactly how I feel about what is happening to you. Yes, you are strong, as evidenced by what you've been through, but it's still terrible that you have to go through it again. You should get a pass on all future garbage with what you've been through...End of rant. I wish you all the strength in the world to face this and beat it.

    Donna,

I had an MRI in December. It wasn't horrible, and the results were reassuring. The only fly in the ointment was the uncomfortable position on the table. I ended up with costochondritis. I hope I spelled it right. It's an inflammation of the cartilage that connects the ribs and breastbone. Ouch! No long-term damage, but painful for a few weeks. My PS said it's not uncommon when placed in the breast forms on the MRI and being asked to stay in place for an extended period. Oh, joy. I got it in the front, and you got the back pain. I guess you can't win in this game.

I hope everyone is continuing to move forward as we are all able. I think of you often and wish you all nothing but happiness.

Dear Sweet Gina...good luck tomorrow!  I am praying and sending healing thoughts your way!

We won't feel cheated on if you go to May Mastectomy...you might even be able to help those women over there.  Having been through this perhaps you can give them a calming presence and infinite wisdom of 'the other side' and what to expect. (drains, incision lines, fills etc)  Sometimes God has this plan for us and you have to look hard to see what exactly that plan is.   I look at Debbie and see how she was our cheerleader and teacher and guide.  Maybe that was God's plan for her recurrence too.

You never know what will happen next...you just have to stop and smell the roses and enjoy every breath you're taking.  Most of my facebook friends know my husband had an acute MI over the weekend (heart attack) 100% occlusion of his LAD (the "widow maker")  egads.  He's out of ICU and doing very well.  They put a stent in him and hopefully he'll be hone tomorrow.  I get to be his home health nurse...so we'll see how that goes.  Maybe this was his wake up call...it certainly woke me up (again)

In any event, I didn't want to make this thread about me but rather to give you encouragement and know we are thinking of you.  I read this little affirmation that a gal has her children recite every night before they go to bed:

I am grateful, I am kind, I create what's in my mind.  Perfect health, prosperity, the world can see the change in me.

I've been saying it myself every day too!

Go look beautiful in that pink lipstick Gina!  I will say extra prayers in the morning.
    xoxo

Hi everyone! Haven't been on for a while -working a lot and just living life.

Gina-I will be praying for you tomorrow and I am so sorry you are having to deal with this again. I will pray for good results and for strength for you to get through this again!

Kat- I am so glad your husband is doing good.  That is the artery that my dad had a clot in while having an operation (prostate) 2 years ago and he wasn't so lucky and he was already at the hospital and yet they couldn't save him so it is a real blessing that your husband is alive!

Paula- Hope your summer is better. You sure have had a lot of stressful events to deal with.

I am seeing a plastic surgeon in Birmingham on next Tues due to the continued pain I have on the left side since my plastic surgeon here is not interested in hearing about any problems and I can't even get anyone in this area to agree to see me. Please pray for me that this will be the answer I need. I am at the point where I would even consider having the implants removed if that would help but I hope that he will have a better answer.

Have a good week and everyone say a prayer for GIna tomorrow.

Gina you have been on my mind these past days. I will be sending you good thoughts prayers tomorrow.  Here's hoping for good results from your surgery and no node involvement!  I never did see that movie or read the book, I guess I should though.

Get R Done! Gina, when you are feeling up to it, let us know how you are doing.

Kat hope your husband is able to come home tomorrow and is on the road to recovery.  Very lucky to have someone like you for his nurse.
