My BRCA test was neg --- but, Dr requested the BART test as precautionary ....

    What is a BART test?

Here is my understanding.  In general, BRCA testing catches about 96% of those who might test positive, but there is about 4% whose genetic mutations are not covered (i.e caught).  BART testing catches another percentage of those (Not 100%).  My genetic counselor and I decided together not to pursue the BART testing as I had no family history and was BRCA negative.  I guess if my cancer recurs, I might think about it if it might impact my treatment.

jakaba - my mom was tested for BRCA, but with the genetic counselor we also decided not to test for BART - insurance wouldn't cover it, but did cover the BRCA.  Even though she came back negative they think there is something genetic going on because of family history - but they just haven't found the mutation yet....

Not exactly answering your question, but I had both types of testing and tested negative on both.  Still have a pretty strong family history of brreast cancer though, was also triple negative in one breast and multi-focal, multi-centric all grades and all tumor types dcis,  plus alh and lcis in good breast (all very tiny with nothing invasive).
