Anyone know how to upload a photo? How did you do yours Carla?
-
Had the big shave today. Happy to get it over and done with!
Not sure if this photo will show up.
-
KiwiMum: I haven't figured how to "upload" a photo, only how to link to one that's already online. (By clicking the green photo icon above, next to the smiley.)
If anyone else knows how, I'd love to learn!

GeocacheLinda:
You know what might be really helpful? A "roll call" for our group like we had with the February 2011 Mastectomy group. You could edit your original post to include all of our names and treatment protocols. That would save us having to go back and see who is getting which therapy (TCH vs. AC, with or without Neulasta, etc.) to see if people's side effects match ours and where our advice would be of help.
If you're game, I'll start:
Date chemo began, Name, #ofTreatments(x)ChemoDrug@Frequency // Add'l chemo(s) planned
4/6 Windlass 4xAC@2wks // 4xTDM1@3wks // 4xTaxotere@2wks // 13xTDM1@3wks

Windlass & KiwiMum, I linked to a photo that was already hosted on line (in my google picture album). I don't know how to add a photo that is not associated with a url.
Thanks for helping me keep my chin up during my cry-fest last week Wednesday! I really think it was 50:50 emotional:physical how I was coming down from the steroids. But I gave in, let myself cry and eventually it ended. This time, my most prominent side-effect is bone pain, or at least I think that's what it is. I feel like a creaky 150 year old lady and just moving around the way I'm accustomed to is hard. I feel tired and I want to rest, but I think that if I'm not mobile the creakiness, the pain when I do move is going to get worse. Nausea is low, but so is my appetite. Yesterday was our 9th wedding anniversary and I was in bed at 7pm. I struggled to hold out to 7pm since I felt kind of embarrassed to go to bed before 7. It was a nice day (even if I did go to work) and Iwe did our annual routine of looking through our wedding album together. Now, we can look forward to a trip, or heck dinner out, for the big #10 next year!
Love the idea of a roll call. Here are my details.
Date chemo began, Name, #ofTreatments(x)ChemoDrug@Frequency // Add'l chemo(s) planned
4/11/11, CarlaB // 4xAC@3wks // 12xT@1wk with Neulasta
I'm sending wonderful Mother's Day greetings to you all. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Roll call
I am doing 4x tc 3 weeks apart. My #2 is Wed the 11th
Had a bilateral, no regrets there with the new news about implants being linked to lymphoma.
My motto" Flat is were it's at" LOL. The big perk, no bra needed YIPPY!
Side effects: You name it I had it. I have an arsenal of preventive meds for round #2
Hair: Half gone, and starting to enjoy the idea of having fun with hair pieces, hats, scarves and hat pins ( gotta do something, and we might as well do this in style).

Day 3 #2 - just stayed in bed till 8:30...having trouble getting the water down this time. Thank heaven no benadryl this time so I am at least aware! Dozing a lot during the day. Walking around the block at least 2x daily, which seems to be a good thing No bone pain at this point!
Carla, congrats! sounds like you weathered a storm well! And went to work - I am hoping to go next week!

Hey y'all:
Roll call:
4/14/11, Kg1234, 4 A/C Dose Dense (every two weeks) and 4 Taxol DD, plus neupogen.
Today is day 8 after the my 2nd treatment. I finally feel okay. This round wiped me out. It's a marathon!! I can't believe I go back for another round this coming friday...it's all just very fast...and yucky. I wanted to have more "good days", but I don't think Dose Dense helps that at all.
I'm particularly worried about Taxol DD, as I see lots of ladies are getting it weekly for 12 weeks. Mine will be done in 8 weeks, but still........
Ugh! that just sums up how I feel. Ugh!

Carla :
Next year is our big 10 year too, and I plan on not only going away, but getting married again!! After this shitty 2011 (beginning on Jan 1st, the day I found the LUMP) , I can't wait for 2012!!!!
Haven't told hubby, but I plan on it soon...I've been concocting a plan for awhile now in my mind. We both deserve a better year than this one and I can't think of a better way that getting remarried with our 3 beautiful children and our families with us this time. We eloped 2002 and told no-one we were getting married and we went to Jamaica. It WAS BLISS!!!!!
Ahhhh memories!!!
Thanks for the uplift and reminding me that instead of UGH!, there's something else waiting around the corner.

Roll call"
4/8, Teckler2, 6x TCH (taxotere, carboplatin, herceptin) every 3 wks//herceptin x1 yr, rad tx after chemo

I lost it today. I finally went back home to live with my husband. He ordered a dishwasher to help keep things clean, and I broke down crying trying to unscrew a bolt. I've had horrible heartburn, still dealing with the big D, keep going back to the cancer center for fluids, everything tastes awful, and my skin in breaking down. I have more breakouts now than I did when i was a teenager. haha. And my skin rips so easy! I have yet to find a lotion that keeps my skin soft, and not flaky. On top of that, I haven't been able to go back to work to be able to distract myself. My doc put me on leave until I am done with chemo. Plus, my job told me that I may not have a position to go back to since i will be off for so long. Ugh!
Isn't this fun?? oh joy
-
so sorry teckler
i feel bad even asking this but here goes.. what is everyone doing for heartburn??? tums was working for me until today!! not sure what to buy when i go buy something since this is driving me crazy!!!it even makes me nauseas when i smell foods like morning sickness!!

Gosh it posted quite big!
Windlass. The moderators sent me a message with this link and instructions to include a picture. I did have to go and set up a photobucket account and link to it.
OK ... can't get the link to insert. Go to the Help section and find "How do I add an image to my message".

Roll call
4/15, jackifp, 6 TCH (taxotere, carboplatin, herceptin) every 3 wks//herceptin weekly n x1 yr, rad tx after chemo
Just had #2TCH yesterday. All's well right now, some heartburn. I get Aloxi antinausea in the infusion, and so far so good. I feel for those of us having more severe reactions. I keep waiting for the boot to drop. Neulasta again on Monday, and see if it gives me fever again. I'm doing Claritin for allergies, and now fear it might do less with the Neulasta cuz I'm taking it daily.
The couch has black and brown hairs from the dogs...and my grey...heehee...
Hang in there, all. -
Hi Ladies and Happy Mother's Day! I hope today is a great day for everyone. My experiences so far. The Emend worked great! I have teary eyes. I had a problem with hemmroids and I am saving my hair to send to Locks of Love! My stubble is falling out more and more. I haven't had to shave my pits or legs! I have been having bouts of depression. Feeling pretty bad about my lot in life but I have to stay positive and realize I'm not the only one and there are people in this world a lot worse off than I am!
-
Roll call:
Caryl 4/20 6 TCH (taxotere, carboplatin, herceptin) every 3 wks, herceptin weekly x1 yr, rad tx after chemo. Hair came off last night, I was shedding too bad and head HURT. It's cold without hair!
-
Hi Profbee
My rash is pretty bad also. Go in tomorrow (Monday) for blood work and Wed for treatment #2 and not looking foward to it. Already shaved my head.
Windlass, love your story about putting the hair out for the birds.
-
Roll call --- 4 AC every two weeks...4 Taxol every two weeks...possible 5 years of Tamoxifin depending if Chemo throws me into menopause.
I'll have treatment #3 of AC on Wednesday...woohoo more then half way through the "Red Devil".
No heartburn this time I take Prilosec faithfully now. My Benadryl will be cut in half this time...maybe I will ask to not take it at all. Round 2 made me very fatigued...Day 3 and 4 I slept most the day.
I take chemo on Wednesday so the low days hit me on the weekend and I don't miss work. Teckler2 --- have you check to see if you can use FMLA at work???
KiwiMum -- you wear shaved marvelously!!!
Happy Mother's Day!!!
-
Hi KiwiMum
You look beautiful without hair. Happy Mother's Day.
-
Happy day to all!
-

-
Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I had a great time at Katy Perry thanks. My daughter was quite blown away and delighted . It was lovely to watch her!
I'm due for AC #2 tomorrow and just had a call from the nurse about my blood test this morning. My white blood count isn't high enough and unless it comes up over night I can't be treated and have to wait a week. Back for another blood test first thing tomorrow. I feel very disappointed. Even though I hate the chemo I want it done. We've also scheduled any away work trips my husband has to do around my chemo- now that it may move it's a problem. Fingers crossed for a miracle overnight!
Bummer you got your period Pawprint. I thought we were supposed to go into chemopause. I was also hoping to get skinny from the chemo, instead I think I'm putting on weight! -
Did anyone else feel that loosing the hair was very freeing? A few thoughts. First it really made me realize that my beauty comes from inside, which I know but never felt it the way I do now.
Second, yesterday as I was watching my hair fly out one by one outside in the breeze I started thinking how nice it would be if each little hair represented a resentment or hurt that I was letting go so that when my new hair comes in, by soul will be cleansed of anything negative and the new hairs can each represent new love, new hope, new energy and such. This was my spiritual twist on the hair thing. It was amazingly healing in a strange and unexpected way.
-
Merilee, I love your thoughts on the the loss of hair being representative of the release of the negatives only to be replaced by new things! Such a positive way to look at our new situation. Thanks for sharing! Tonight will be my first night wearing my wig and being dressed up. I would love to go without, but my sparse whispy few hairs give me the look of a mad scientist. LOL Hope everyone has a great start to the week.
-
LOL mad scientist! Mine looked like a baby orangatan. I tried to snap a pic of myself because, it really was funny, but the flash kept going off and blocking my face,
-
I couldn't take the shedding or the sore scalp anymore so I shaved my head and I have to say, I can understand why men like having little to no hair. 1 minute in the shower, no conditioner, no waiting, no blow drying, no product, no deciding which way to wear it today, no worrying about a bad hair day - it is totally freeing! I wore a scarf to lunch with DD who came to visit me for Mom's Day because I didn't do a very good job with it, but when we got home, she cleaned me up nicely and then we jumped on my motorcycle with me "topless" and went to Starbucks for coffee and it didn't bother me a bit. Nor did I notice anyone staring either. My kids say it's because I just look like a bad-ass biker chick and I did it on purpose, but I'm going to enjoy this time of not having to worry about hair!
-
All you ladies that have lost your hair, can you tell me, did your scalp feel weird or anything before it came out? Any kind of symptom leading up to the falling out? I would appreciate any insight. I too love the idea of out with the old and in with the new things, very good outlook. Thanks and hugs to all.
