Worst Thing Someone Said To You?

DH doesnt understand because he is a man if they get a headache they think they are going to die and a man I worked with told me I felt bad because the doctors told me I would after each chemo funny he wouldnt like to take it to prove he didnt feel bad...MEN
-
Just been told by another threader that I had a "serious persecution complex"......probably one of the worst thing I've ever been told besides F..U...
-
Luan----if you will share i'll go and rip the person ----you can send a pm.,I don't think peopke that are bullies should be protected in any fashion. I can rip them without getting myself in trouble. Besides then we know not to go to that thread.. Couldd be one person but nasties attract other nasties. Like a fire ant hill.
-
Luan- all I can say my friend, is consider the source. That was the most inane backpedaling when you called them on it. Ah well, let them continue with the party in their mind. Big hugs girlfriend:)
-
Luan----------I found the thread---------way to much information. And way to many people who can't reasonably get into a discussion without a negative. Ain't going there again, made my brain hurt. Of course with aberrant sleep patterns, nothing digests well.
Ativan and bed

I got the at least you got new boobs and I said there was nothing wrong with the ones I had they feed my kids they shut up and another thing you can say is if you think its a great idea just drink after me and you can catch it and get new boobs you wont have to speak to that dummy again ha

recently: "you only had breast cancer."
-
I am amazed about how many people tell you stories about people they know that had BC and who died from it..I always think its going to be some uplifting story..and then it ends up that way.. I see why my breast surgeons assistant, who is a 17 year survivor said once someone starts to tell you a story stop them and tell them you dont want to hear it unless it has a positive outcome.
The worst thing was a couple days ago as my husband and I were walking out of our gym, someone we knew came up to me and said :"its ok if you die early"..
Left us speachless.. I dont think I am ready at 43 thank you!
-
Marial-------It' okay if you die early--------Okay everyone we need a comeback for that one. I am also speechless. That is about as brainless as it comes. But maybe---"-AND the point of you saying such an unbelievably hurtful thing would be______? ". how about "Your brain is so obliterated on what drug that you would say such an unbelievably stupid thing" or how about touching her arm and saying "Tag you now have it" . Duh ---------------Mariel --suffering fools.
-
Every time I read a thread like this one it confirms my choice to only tell about 6 people close to me. No one I work with knows about my BC. Once lady in our benefits department knows, but she is bound my HIPAA and would never speak out of turn anyway. Brother, people can be thougthless. And, I really do want to believe it really is that they are truly just not thinking.
-
sas-scgatzu next time anyone says that tell them Oh I didnt know you had a brain tumor and of course she will say no I dont tell her oh you figured she did because no one with out a sick brain would say something so dumb but in a way that is not saying nice things to people that have a brain tumor I gues yu could say I had no idea you can see into the future becasue my doctor cant ... or say no younger than you dum ass.. oh that makes me so mad how dumb people shit out thier mouth..........

Hadley, I've read enough comments where people actually thought that it's --catchy-----
My husband and I dx'd 3 months apart. I have to admit my first comment was between us ---and it was what the f(&^k did we live on a landfil. Two of us with Ca at the same time, we actually lost two friends because of it------screw them.
What i suggest though ----even though tag now you have it would be so fun for the brainless heartless people. That can be considered and assault and battery and cause of mental distress. -------SO, preface the comment with do I have permission to touch you----with a witness -------Then tag now you have it. Once they give you permission to touch them it's not assault and battery. mental distress--preface it with we used to play this game as a kid can I play it with you?-------------All bases are then covered because they gave permission. ----------sounds way technical , BUT those negative words if we wanted to follow up on them could be considered and assault. Battery occurs with the touching.

I wore one of my hats to the office one day, instead of my wig. One of the realtors told me "I guess if they don't want to work with you, then, they don't have to work with you." ?????
-
RJ -------and their point was ?
-
Marial, Sas, Jaclie, my brain's working overtime, i can see smoke coming out of my ears !!
-
Now this one should boil your water.
Was at a track meet yesterday, to watch mygrandaugher, and something there said "how are you doing"............I said "good, the radiation makes you a little tired, but that is about it"..............Then he said "are you going to lose your hair from radiation".................I said "no not really".......................Are you ready for this.
He then said "oh, well in case you were I was gonna tell you to save it for me, I could use it".......He was bald..................and then the asshole laughed.
I said "well if you ever lose your b-lls to cancer.......save them for me, so I can hang them on my xmas tree..................then everyone in the stands laughed..............Paybacks are a bitch.
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA my DH and I had a great laugh at that one ducky!!!

My sister came up to see me shortly after I was diagnosed. She was supportive in many ways, but one of the first things that she wanted me to speak with me about was the BRACA test so for her daughters' case. She went on to say that her insurance wouldn't cover it. I said that mine would either since I do not have biological children. She said that she would pay half of this $3.000 dollar test. I don't know. I was so bummed. It was immediatly about her and I was still in a state of shock. Would have this bothered you?
-
Cyborg, I don't get it. Why should you test? She can test her own daughter!! If you have it, it doesn't mean her daughter does. I'm not getting tested and I have 2 kids (boy/girl). They will be extra vigilant (in their 30's now) but not let cancer rule thier lives. Perhaps your sister is more worried about HERSELF?
-
That's what I was getting from the whole situation. It was about her and her's and not about me. Not saying she isn't super supportive supportive in other ways-- Just the whole timing was wrong to me. I don't think it would be helpful to me unless it some how tests for likelihood for distant mets which I am at risk anyway cause of ILC.
-
Tell her you don't need the test because you already HAVE cancer. The only reason you'd get it is if you needed to know if you should get your ovaries out.
-
I just found this thread. I love you all already. I was offered bcra testing in Feb. shortly after I was diagnosed because of the TN status. (There is a waiting list of almost a year to have bcra testing done). When trying to ease my family into my diagnosis I mentioned this fact (along with the fact I had BC and would need a years worth of treatment). It was like bees swarming to honey. My sister hasn't called in 5 months to see how I'm doing because she is only interested in the results from the tests I haven't even had yet and my mother just thought I should know that I'm in this mess because I made poor lifestyle choices and its certainly not because of any bad genes.
-
Since being dx with my BC, my sis and nephew were dx with lymphoma. My older sister told my mom "she is sick of hearing about cancer and doesn't want to hear anymore about it". She tested neg for BRCA1, so now she is too high and mighty to hear about cancer??? I have stopped talking about my situation, only because it is nearing the end of treatments/surgeries and I feel ready to put cancer at rest (even though it still lurks in the back of my mind). But the other family members have to undergo chemo/radiation and this is all too real for them.
-
I think one of the worst things for me has been people that have literally said "nothing". DH's family has not even acknowledged that I have cancer, sent a card, called or email....I saw them at a BBQ this weekend and his SIL asked "how ARE you?". I wanted to say "perhaps you should have asked that question 6 months ago".....I had to refrain........I SOOOO wanted to say it though. I had a BLMX and chemo and have a young son...no offer to help, no phone calls, no nothing from his family here in town. His brother and wife that live several states away were wonderful though (sent a care package, organized meals through email with my local friends, etc...). I told DH if they were that uncaring and rude I should not have to spend much time around them anymore...it's torture. I hope I don't have to see them again anytime soon....I don't plan to.
-
Mdg, I got the same response from my brother-in-law. Not a peep....oh, he did bring my husband a pink cancer shirt "to support your wife". And I was under the impression he liked me!
