I came across this site and thought to post here.  Maybe someone may know about it or has more information about it to help others.

I am a long term survivor and have been a cancer insurance advocate for many years.  I've gotten a few patients on the PCIP program in California so far.  However, you cannot have had insurance during the last 6 months - that includes MediCaid, MediCal.  Most cancer patients are not going to be able to go without insurance for six months.  The full program will be in place in 2014.  I would expect that there will be no 6 months wait for that program.  This is just an interim program.

Also, I investigated the PCIP program in another state for a cancer patient who wanted to move.  The other state refused the PCIP program funds from the government.  So, they don't have a program there.  If your state doesn't have the PCIP program, you can apply through the national program.  It isn't as affordable as I had hoped - even with the subsidy.
