Mint water helped with the mouth. There is a nice  one on the market called Metromint

Thanks for the advice on Metromint, Merilee.  Is it in the flavored water section or where do you find it?  I'll have to see if I can find that because I have that constant yucky taste in my mouth, too.  I wouldn't call it metalic, just yucky.  Makes me want to constantly brush my teeth, which doesn't help.

At Kroger it is where the have the chilled juices that are good for you. Like the Boathous, and some of the smart waters, and high density juice that requires refrigeration,

Also most health food stores carry it. Good luck and check the labels as it comes in various degrees of cold -3 to -9 which is the one I get. Also helps cool a hot feeling belly.

Hi all, my back pain was very bad this week.  I don't know if it is from the Nuelasta or what but it was agonizing and the pain pills didn't help.  Just laying down relieved it.  A little better today.  I am getting ANOTHER cold!  I seem to get sick every two weeks.  I go for a blood draw on Thursday but I will call the Dr. office and let them know.  Maybe it is allergies but usually I get itchy eyes with that.  I hate chemo, hate it, hate it hate it!  I have one scheduled in June on my daughters field trip day but I want to go so will see if I can put it off one day.

Well I took a shower last night and most of my hair in the back was in one big ball. I now feel how a matted dog feels...poor babies. I grabed my scissors and started chopping it off. I know am the proud owner of a 2 inch hair cut. My hubby and daughter said I look like a pixie fairy....gee thanks! lol

Oh my gosh my scalp is so tender!! I have worn my wig all day. I got a lot of did you do something to your hair? I simply said yes I got it cut LOL!

Round 2 Day 2 and I lost a ton of hair this morning.  I'd definitely describe my look as comparable to a dog with mange.  But I'm getting good with scarves. Had my neulasta this afternoon and already feeling like I'm going down hill.  I plan to stay home tomorrow and thursday and take it easy.  I did get a script to help with the heart burn, but forgot to drop it off.  Redefining chemo brain, I am.

Sending all my good thoughts to you ladies.  We're doing it, even if we hate it.

yes, we are hating it, but doing it.

today is better than the last two days...this is going to sound yuck, but I gargle Coke for the bad mouth taste. seems to work.  How disgusting.

on a positive, hubby picked up new patio furniture! Can't wait for it to be warm enough to sit out there.

    HAIR LOSS QUESTION

After thinking yesterday that nothing was happening ... today I started shedding.

I was thinking I should get it shaved on Saturday but I am taking my daughter to a Katy Perry concert Saturday night and very unsure about doing it in a wig or hat.

Should I shave Saturday or will it hang in there until Monday?  4 days?

Hello to all my April Chemo Buddies, I have been off line for a few days, but loved reading and catching up on everyone.  I am headed for round #2 tomorrow.  I have been feeling really great.  Took my son and daughter to florida for the weekend.  Hoped to see the shuttle, but it was postponed.  My hair is coming out more and more, but i still have  a very thin covering.  I have my wig, but have not tried to wear it out yet.  I hope you all continue to do well.  Before surgery, I went to a lady who practices Reiki, which really  helped me relax, and gave me some positive feelings about healing.  I went back today, and am really fired up about getting through this and being cancer free and healthy.  Good luck to all of you .

artiecat--i was sure i was doing something wrong, but called our nurseline and sure enough carbonated beverages (coke included) is on their help list for the yicki taste...hey, i figure if coke rots away at rust, then it's sure got to be able to tackle this bad mouth taste...dont get me wrong I still brush my teeth with baking soda and water, and rinse with that as well, and floss...so trying to take care of my mouth, but the coke works for me....hope it helps you too...it's not a permanent change, I have to keep sipping/gargling....

Well its Wed. morning, I woke up at about 3 something this morning.  I have pain across my chest a little bit in my wing area, I do not have shortness of breath or any swelling anywhere, everything seems to be ok, could this still be from Neulesta???? I had the shot Friday?

How long do the on and off pains last?  anyone know???  First time with all this, and not being sure always makes for a little anxiety.

I am guessing I will take the Claritin again?

Well it is one week post red devil aka A/C # 2 and I feel normal again. I actually felt ok yesterday. I really dislike how my head itches with this wig. I wonder if I just shave my head bald if that would make the itch go away.

Kiwi -- mine started hsedding ore and more everyday this past Friday. By Monday night after I took a shower the back was in a big knot like matted fur. If I tried to comb it out I would have pulled out so much hair that I just decided to cut it.

Once it really starts it really STARTS day after day.

Carla - remember crying is just a way to let go of emotions - it is a good thing!

TAC #2 today - my wonderful dtr went with me.  After we went to Chili's for lunch ( taste buds are as good as they will get I think!) and then walked the Oceanside pier (about 1.75 miles!)!  Beautiful day here on the Pacific coast.  Wanted to enjoy the good things I have around me today!

Carla - hope you are feeling better!

Kiwi - I started shedding this morning and was wondering the same thing.  I didn't want it to just start falling out at work and be bald by the end of the day or something.  It's nice to know we've got a couple of days.

Annie, I don't wear my wig in fact the day I was supposed to get it trimmed I was in so much pain I went to bed and slept past my appt.  Completely forgot it!  I have been wearing scarfs and hats and have gotten used to that.  I saw one bald and beautiful lady today at chemo!  I had someone approach me today at Walmart and she owns a day spa in town and told me to stop by and she has some Cooling Gel for when I get radiation!  Isn't that nice!

Thanks for the hair tips everyone. I've decided to just get it over with and shave it Saturday. I'm not keen on looking like a stray dog! I'm going to rock the bald or hat look at Katy Perry.

My party trick at work today has been to say to people, "look at this". And then pull a handful of hair out. Stupid I know!

Carla I hope you are feeling better. We are all definitely entitled to have a pity party.

Hello all, i have round 2 next wednesday.  Head very sore, kept me awake most of the night.  Found cuddle bear in my jack russells - Ben - bed, under his blanket.  Normally he tears everything to pieces.  Just shows we all need a cuddle sometime.  When i'm feeling down, he curls up beside me and growls if anyone comes near.

Hang in there. I start chemo tmw and cant sleep, cant eat, one big crying mess. But, I am convinced that I will be so much less anxious after the first treatment. I am not a fan of sleeping pills but I have tried Lunesta, which worked great. No groggy feeling in the am but on the downside, there is a metallic taste. We can do this.

Hey patriotic! I think and hope u will feel more leveled out when u get started with treatment. I didn't sleep the night before cause I was hopped up on steroids. The steroids have some fun aspects to them. We will be there with you !

My coping is to picture the chemo as a vicious dog running through my veins tearing up any intruders AKA cancer. The dog is my friend and hero. May seem Corny to some but works for me.

Also my head is "raining' Hair to prepare for the new an babylike hair that will come after treatment. I am thinking of ways to embrace the bald and short hair. I am tending to add very feminine things to my wardrobe. Pulled out my sundresses today,

and am looking for ankle braclets and pretty hat pins

I had my head shaved yesterday and it feels sooooooooooo good. The pain is gone! Now I fully understand why men like to do this. It is so airy and cooling. I didn't tell hubby I was doing this and whipped off my wig and his eyes got so big...I was cracking up. He rubbed my head and said you have a sexy head hahaha.

Linda -- that was really nice of the spa owner! The lady at the cancer centers salon said to wet a wash cloth and then stick it in the freeze, then put it on my head for the pain. It really did work!

Patriotic -- you'll be fine. When you are done with the first you'll it really was not as bad as what you thought :)
