Granny...I tell you...it's in the water...probably over at Gravesend Bay! Near the bridge! I drank a lot of it too!
What's the expression...that what doesn't break you makes you stronger??? I don't know. But I sure wish we could bottle some of our water....now wouldn't that be something!?
-
I love you to pieces Granny! I am a Virgo....controlling to a T...and I will cry at the drop of a hat or cut someone dead with a glance. Ah, the onlything that does not fit is I am supposed to be neat and while I am in my heart.....the rest of me is a little slob:)
-
-
That's a painting by William Merritt Chase of Gravesend Bay.... Most people recognize it when they see the Verrazano Narrows Bridge....
-
VR-I thought that was the Verrazano bridge.way way back when.Fab.pic.
yes when i go to brooklyn i bring lots of jugs and fill them up with the best H2o in the world.thats one place you dont have to drink filtered water.MEMORIES.LOL.
-
I have not been on over the weekend and you gals have me rolling on the floor laughing.
VR-I have never heard of them sending you home with a cathertor for you to remove. I would have been scared to death to do it.
-
SherryC... They only permit it if you've grown up in Brooklyn!
Nah! Actually, they're doing it more and more with other types of surgery as well. Don't be surprised if one day they offer you it. I had shoulder surgery 5 years ago in the other shoulder and boy oh boy, what a difference 5 years makes. I ONLY WISH they offered me the pain pump back then!

I want to throw in my assistant managers who decided to give me their resignation letter on a Sunday morning, before coffee. I want them to burn very slowly - found out they made the decision to leave and go back to Florida 10 months ago and just decided to tell us. I don't need this added stress right now. Discovering I don't have the stamina I once had and that is soooo frustrating. Will have to pace myself as I will be doing the work for 2 people.
-
This little aries wants to throw in the guilt she feels when asking for a day or two off....feel like I have to beg....all they have to do in my department is say "Can I take X and Y off?" and I say 'yep...just write it on my calendar so I know....' simple!!!! When I want a day or two off , it becomes a big song and dance....might only be in my head but.....don't think so
-
I know the feeling of that Sandee. I dont think its you. I am always the good one and go to work every dang day just like Im suppose to. Then ya have the ones who miss atleast 1 day a month and seem like they get away with murder. I've worked for this company for over 10 yrs and man did my superviser crap on me when I told him I had cancer. Even went so far as to lay my husband off knowing full well that I was facing 6 weeks off due to BMX. I know it wasnt because of my cancer but he really did a number on us, thats for sure. Thats just the begining of the way he junked all over my family. I rarely speak with him now and thats fine with me. Thats why Im so glad they have moved me out of his department. Do I think its in your head, heck no!!!!! You have nothing to feel guilty about. I know I stopped and does it ever feel so good to have that off my shoulders.
-
Sandee, no it's not just you. I actually have to contact the 2 PRN techs to find out who can work in my place. I only had 1 replacement after BMX and 4 weeks off. They had to call him in to do scans after his regular job at another hospital. The MO's office was asking me when I would be back at work to be able to scan their other patients. On one hand it's a great feeleing that you are wanted at work, but on the other it sucks that you are the only full-time person who can do the job at your hospital.

Just returned from having the stitches taken out of my shoulder. And STILL everything is running along smoothly. Imagine that! Only, tiny winy bit of a problem. The gal at the ortho's office...couldn't locate the referral. They saw me anyway. No delay, at all. And after my internist's wonderful gal called them back, Voila! referral WAS in the system, since April 1! April Fool's joke on them!
That fire is working! I'm feeling sooo much better thanks to all the sitting I did down there!
Let that fire roar!

I want to throw in a so-called friend who I met at the beginning of this journey. She was always very supportive and an excellent listener. There has been so much going on in my life lately, I just needed a sensitive ear. I went to see her today and was basically told she did not want to have anything to do with me - that all I do is whine and I need to grow up. Also said that playing the pity cancer card is really old. I was so shocked, I did not know what to say.
The last week has been really overwhelming - all the crap happens at once.
1. Our maintenance guy fell off a roof while working at a second job and can't come back to work. Just hired a new guy - still training him.
2. On Sunday morning before coffee, our assistant managers presented us with their resignation letter. I want to add that they made the decision to leave 10 months ago and just told us of their intentions.
3. I am supposed to have carpet installed next week in my office and now much of my help will be gone.. I can't do too much with an aching back.
4. Scrambling to hire new help. I now have to do the work of 2 until I do.
Gosh, I am whining and ranting right now.
By throwing her and the rest of this crap in the fire, I am supposed to feel better - huh? But, I don't - not yet. I have to come up with a better plan of attack and also just get that insensitive b&^ch out of my life forever.
Right now I just want to curl up in a ball and have a good cry. Haven't had to do that in a long time. Been trying to live by the 24 hour rule but it is not working at the moment.
Thanks for listening.
-
Jo... Now that my shoulder is better, come sit by the fire and you can lean on me.
-
voraciousreader - Thanks, I think I will. I will bring lots of tissues to - I really do need that good cry.
-
oH jo jo..you can cry.its ok.we are here for you.always.just stay a way from the fire.there is a big one comin for that nurse.i see her heading straight into it.one by one they will all burn...im with you sista.stokin the fire.back up everyone....its blazin.
gosh jo jo she is ugly....and gettin worst.dont look now but she is cryin.feel better now????i sure hope so..i got your back now honey...xoxoxoK
-
Granny - I knew I could count on you to help me out. I do remember you are from Brooklyn and she made the mistake of messing with you. I am feeling a little better and hope tomorrow is a much better day.
-
i think we need marshmallows, to sing camp songs in rounds and then dance around howling at the fire....works for me in the summers when work and life are insane
-
Sandee - Is this what you had in mind?
-
nerida - Love the Pic!
-
nerida -----I'd say the pic comes as close as anything we've seen as to how we feel. Can you imagine if this were the symbol for bc vs a pink ribbon.
-
sas - I think that would be a much better symbol than a pink ribbon. The picture says volumes.
Edited to ask Nerida - where did you find the pic - I would like to put it at the top of the thread.
-
Granny is hell on them nurses, she loves throwing them in the fire. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Sherry - In this case, I needed her help.
-
Jo I know granny takes care of them. My nurse escaped and granny had to catch her and throw her back in. maybe yours won't get out.
-
I smelled the stench of human flesh coming from this thread. Can't toast a marshmallow in that.
-
Jo/Nerida- EXCELLENT !!!EXactly what I was thinking
-
Sandee - Let's make some of these!
-
This is my first time for the bonfire. I finished chemo one week ago. I have alot of stuff to throw in. I will start with my bottle of Biotene. Next everything pink that people have sent me. I will be back soon with my wig and headcoverings, keep that fire hot. When my taste buds recover some, I want a marshmellow.
