hey all-- they came out yesterday, along with a polyp in my uterus. I'm sore but not too miserable. Started taking tamoxifen again last night. If anyone has any tips for a speedy recovery let me know-- I really have to back at work tomorrow-- (and on a plane next week!)

I was sore for two or three days (had laproscopical total hysterectomy) but was back at work three days later and walking 2 plus miles (slowly) at 2 weeks.  Rest when you can!

Tips for a speedy recovery?  Don't get sick.  I had the flu a few days after surgery which knocked me down.  Otherwise I would have been ok for work.  I started walking 2 miles within 4 days and hiking within a week.  Like Mary said, try and rest as much as possible and you'll be fine.

Glad to hear everything went well, this is next on my list also.  I hope you continue to improve so you'll have no problems on the flight.

Actually, the biggest trouble I had was finding clothes that were comfy, as the incisions were at waistband height, and I was bloated from the gas for a while. I also was a bit slow getting up and down. But recovery was pretty fast and painfree.

    Glad the Surgery went well!

Take your pain meds around the clock the first 24 hrs.  Getting behind on pain is the pitts. I really think that If you stay up on them the first 24, in the long run you'll take less and be off of them sooner.  Some surgeons dont let you take any ibuprofen, mine doesn't, but, if they do and there isn't any in the pain meds you are taking add a little in.  If you're like me pain meds surgery travel  = megaconstipation. Take some stool softener  with you and hydrate like heck.

Good luck, thanks for posting, I'm really nervous about doing this, your post helps

Here's hoping TSA is quick and kindly, the skies smooth and lovely, the food healthy, your room clean and quiet, and especially, your talk outstanding

Christine, sorry to say but it did last a while. It was the most bothersome thing for me, not pain.

I had a long loose dress that I slopped around in for about a week or so, as I wasn't comfortable wearing anything else. Hope you have something in your wardrobe that will look professional as well as comfortable!

Wish I had something helpful to say that helped for me, but it just took time.

This is probably not what you want to hear. I had a friend who had similar surgery and her surgeon said it can take months for the puffiness to completely disappear.  My surgeon was fond of calling the ooph, "major surgery through a small hole".

I can't tell if I'm bloated from surgery or if it's my normal "flub" as my girls call it.
