5 years - made it!!!
Here I am - and well I remember that Friday after work when I clung to the phone absorbing the words "we have a problem" and "carcinoma." How little I really knew about what I could - and did - endure as the rollercoaster of treatments continued (actually it was neither as hard or as easy as others experienced). Now 5 years have passed....I'm older, achy-er, wrinklier, but living virtually the same life as I did before (with a few notable exceptions, the most serious: sleep deprivation!).
Thanks to all my BC sisters who walk, limp, or stagger this journey with me - you continually help me refocus on GRATITUDE...
Julie

Congrats on your 5 years. You made my day! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story. Would mind also posting it out on the Stage III 5 years out thread above? It's my go to thread when I'm starting to freak out.
I'm stage IIIC with the same hormonal status so this is so encouraging. Do you do anything special with diet and exercise? Take a magical supplement?

I'm truly happy for you.
How was your experience with the hormone blockers, if you don't mind me asking? I'm interested because I'm thinking about not doing hormonotherapy.
Best,
C.

Julie, 5 years is so fantastic. Your post reminded me of my own "phone call". Who would have thought we'd be glad to be wrinklier, achy-er, and older? Go figure. We are also stronger, but in ways that don't show so much. Is the sleep deprivation caused by hot flashes? Meds? Take good care of yourself!!! Hugs, G.

Wow - thanks to ALL my posters! In answer to clariceak, I do take a mushroom supplement (think it's called Host Defense) in addition to my Centrum Silver, calcium chews and Vitamin D. I walk my mini-poodle at least 1/2 hour daily, and do 1/2 hour of Denise Austin light weights 4 times/week. And to Carola30, I've been on Arimidex since 12/06 - it does make my joints stiff & achy, and I've developed arthrosis in my right hip which has been inhibiting my movement (have an appt. with an ortho next week to see what can be done). The Arimidex compromised my bone density so I'm now reversing that with annual Reclast infusions. Other than that, no side effects whatsoever (ha ha!)
