HI readingmama, no all my glory hangs out, literally! they tape my gown down to my skin to cover my good boob, but other than that, waist up exposed.
Ducky, I'm going to buy my TODAY, cause I don't want to wait for rads....My surgeon called I have an afternoon appt today for the seroma....
-
I get a cover, but I think its more so for being kept warm since the room is so cold.........not sure it has anything to do with less exposure...........covred or not, I honestly don't feel funny at all.......the tech's are very descrite.............Honestly I think my boobs have been seen more in the past 2 1/2 months by strangers, then my poor husband saw them in the 35 years we were married (until he passed away)..................
The other day I passed a buy with a white jacket on going down the street and flashed him.......................just kidding.......hugs ladies.
-
Here's a visual for you - I just completed a phone call with the Pittsburgh home office while holding my left breast up so the aloe gel could dry on my "underboob." Thank God I am off the road and working from home. If they only knew what was going on here in Seattle!
-
I'm not covered at all! out in all my glory :-) in fact, they sometimes pull my gown down even lower if it is in the way when they go to the control room...
-
sagina, I had an egg-sized seroma in my armpit where I had a SNB. Hurt like he!!. They had to drain it and still were unable to get all the fluid. Hope it goes away quickly for you.
-
Hi everyone, saw the BS, apparently my RO was a bit freaked cause seromas generally aren't this hard....he didn't express that to me thank goodness, my wonderful BS got me in today, did an ultrasound to make sure we are only dealing with fluid and we are!!!!!!!!!!!!! He asked if I can tolerate the discomfort through radiation so he doesn't have to break the skin at this point in radiation. As full as it is, I don't think it can get any bigger! So it is now my official 3rd boob and back to radiation tomorrow! You'd think the "macrowave" would dry up the fluid! lol
-
Hmmmm, didn't know they COULD cover you up! They make this big deal about making sure the OTHER one is covered up but there she is, hanging out for all to see...All my rad techs are females - seems like there's at least a different one every day..they have all been sweeties...Always told to have a good "rest of the day"(my treatment is mid afternoon after work)...I had expected to be pretty red by now and I'm just fairly pink...Very, very pleased about that - considering the blue eyes and fair skin (almost clear)...I'm fanatical about putting on the cream in the am, right after treatment and at night...dunno if that's why or what...but it's certainly a surprise...Starting to get tired thou, I need to come home and just "sit for a bit" before I can get my act together to make dinner...
Gina - hope that seroma heals quickly - geeezzzz - if it isn't one thing, it's another, huh?
Ducky - scratched my ticket of the day when I got home - another dud...oh well, there's always tomorrow...
G'night peeps...
-
Ritaz I hear ya! My DD is on her way to ER at college for massive headache....guess I won't be sleeping tonight till I hear from her.
Ducky my rads are back on officially tomorrow so I'm buying my 33 tickets and scratching 6 tomorrow, wish me luck cause I just looked at an explanation of benefit from my insurance company and the rads doc isn't collecting my co-pay oh my!
-
Well, girls, I get a pillowcase to cover myself up with. They said gowns get all twisted anyway. Most of the time they do cover me back up after they have me aligned, but sometimes they forget. It was a beautiful day outside yesterday and today so I went to RADS wigless. The girls decided that some of my hair that is coming in is "colorless?" I have to agree. There are spots of hair that look like they have no pigment...lol. They also warned me about hair dye... A woman that was coming to RADS was so excited about her new hair that she colored it and the dye burned it all off... They said for me to talk to my Chemo ONC about hair dye and things like that. I see him tomorrow and I'm actually happy I'll be seeing him again. It made him happy that I was always upbeat and ready for the next round and whatever it brought.
Gina, I had to look up what a seroma is. I guess it's actually pretty common. I guess your lymph fluid decided to give you a third boob while mine gave me a mild case of lymphadema in my right arm. I hope your seroma doesn't cause much discomfort for you.
Rita, you and I have the same fair skin and blue eyes. Today I had 17/28 and my skin is still in good shape. I get a little pink and slap that 98% aloe gel on it before bed. I have begun getting a sensation below my nipple area that some have described as similar to when you're nursing. Oh, and I've been napping every afternoon after work for a couple hours myself except this week I'm on vacation and can sleep in and I DO sleep for 11-12 hours a night!
DuckyB, I'm glad you're feeling better about RADS. I think you would be a scream to hang out with. If you feel the need to flash a man, I say go for it!

Sagina, I feel so bad for you........I hope things get better..........Like you haven't been through enough.........Good Heavens.........Maybe when you buy your tickets you will get a big win, something good has to come out of all the mess
Aimee Mac........Having a visual here, and laughing like hell.......
Well Ladies headed to the hospital for my 4th Rad.......Waiting for my daughter.....then right from the Rads to a dexa scan..........guess they want to see how much Femara it will take to turn my bones to " swiss cheese".........Told my daughter I could do this myself, but like the "son", she won't take "no" for an answer either...........When I said to her "you don't have to go", "I'm fine, and I can do this myself".............She said "for 42 years you took care of me"........"Mom, I have 1 Mother who took care of 6 kids, those 6 kids, can surely take care of 1 Mother"......"See you in the morning"..............How lucky can one person get !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Can't wait to come home and scratch off another lottery ticket............So far $18.00 in 3 days...............
OOOOOOKKKKKKKK, its 8:15, and all I have heard about is the wedding bullshit from England...........I'm about ready to put my foot through the TV...................Did anyone hear, or really care about the poor people down " south" who are being torn apart by tornado's......That is who I care about............I could care less about this friggin wedding...........Worst thing is you can't get away from it...............its everywhere.................and "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn................Ok, I feel better now, off to the hospital to get fried again.....love you gals.
-
duckyb1, what your daughter said brought tears to my eyes! you are one lucky woman!
-
Ducky: getting tired of the wedding as well! like we all want to here about all the massive amounts of money they have available to frivously spend! and all the dolls and paraphanalia-you've got to be kidding me!
Anyway, still doing well here. Not tired yet this week. My boob is red but not as red as it has been, more freckles though. I guess it seems more maroon than bright red. Funny looking in the mirror though-half body white, half body red, like some weird sc-fi creature :-)
I don't get covered at all, ever, but it might be because I have the breath hold contraption that monitors the level of my chest when I hold my breath. Oh well, modesty has gone out the window these days
.
Have a great day all! Hope everyone is coping well...
Susan

DD cat scan was all clear of the brain, thank goodness. She suffered a huge concession freshman college year, wonder if that can be residual too....she had enough in her last night to crack a chemo head joke at me though! so she should be fine....she still had the headache at 3 am, but was on her way back to the dorm.
ducky you're children are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but the apples didn't fall far from the tree!
MIzchiz, the seroma only hurts when I drive over bumps, so I think I will drive with left hand and clutch boob two and three with the right, I can hear it now, "but officer, you don't understand...."lol
I have noticed my new tan lines already.....going in for 6 of 33 today, can't wait to buy scratch off tickets!
-
Hi Girls.........Thanks for the compliments about my daughter. She took me to Rads, then she went with me to get my Dexa Scan (a floor below Rads).. After Rads she took me to BJ's, Target, and to Trader Joe's for my pure Aloe Vera Gel. Then back to her house for lunch, and now I'm home, at put away what few things I bought while we were out......All she kept saying was "Mom is this too much for you, are you ok, can you keep going"...........I loved being out with her.........Tomorrow we will go to Rads again, then to a linen shop where she wants to buy place mats........Love this store too..............
OOOOHHHHHHH Ladies, and together her and I scratched off another lottery ticket....#4, and I won $ 3.00 more.............3 wins out of 4 tickets...............wow, I won $21.00 so far..........yowza yowza...............Damn I hope I 'm as lucky with Rads, as I am with the lottery tickets.
Susan, I thought I looked a little "pink" today, but maybe it is the pressure from the boob inside the bra........just a little though.....Sounds like your holding up pretty well Good point made Susan about the money being spent on this wedding.......it would suit them better to feed the poor in England, cut their taxes , give them better healthcare, rather the spend it on a damn wedding..........My feeling is when your the leader of a country, and all your people's needs have been met, then you start to squander the "peoples" money......amen
Sagina......Hope your daughter is ok, and the cop and boob story gave me a good laugh.......Hang in there girlfriend, your gonna be ok.
Hugs
-
Ducky: You are lucky with those tickets. I am saving my money for an overnight at Foxwoods, had to reschedule Rads for that day. Had 1st one today then had Reiki. It was a great Reiki session. What does the Radiation do? So short of a time at the machine. Who is up at 4:00 am EST for this wedding? I am at PT in the morning for my knee, then Rads, so I am sure I will see it on TV.
-
From what I was told Rads will get any left over cells that might have escaped the surgery..............I was told I didn't really need Rads because of my age, and getting it was an Insurance Policy...............Chose Insurance.................My RO, agreed too, it was the MO, who said I could opt out...............Decided to play it safe....
Maye once I get to the well done stage I might feel differently, but right now I'm gonna hang in there.
My daughter is getting up at 4am........I would have probably watched it at my home too,but I am all Royal Weddinged Out......................Sick of hearing about it, and then when i heard the money being spent it made me sick.............amen to that
-
Happy Friday All!! And enjoy the 2 day break!
I am 1/2 way done - 17/34 done yesterday!! I am definately feeling more tired this week, and my skin is pink to a light shade of red. No pain, other than the every so often twinge at the node dissection scar site. Almost 4 more weeks still seems like a long way to go, but it does feel good to get 1/2 through. Will get #18 later today.
I've been wearing the no underwire bra, haven't gone braless or tried the front hook athletic bras yet, so far the bra/clothes have not been a problem.
Gina - Hope your DD is feeling better and the seroma is not hurting too bad.
-
Oh yeah, and I'm going to the movies tonight with gals from my book club, I so rarely go out, I can't wait!! We are going to see Water for Elephants. And my dd and I will drive 2 hours tomorrow to my parents and go to my sister-in-laws baby shower on Sunday, all good things.
-
Oh my rads friends, what an evening I had last night....had a few minutes before rads, went to gas station, bought my 33 lotto tickets, didnt' know which ones to get so the clerk says the "bingo" ones are great. So I buy 33 bingo scratch offs. I get to the treatment center, in the car, excited to "scratch" off my six tickets, and darn if the scratch off doesn't have 4 bingo cards on it, then I have to scratch the caller's numbers, and then go and "play bingo" scratching every number from each card.....the quarter was too big had to switch to a dime, my hand was hurting after ward....I was cracking up thinking to myself, I just wanted to scratch and win....not work for it!!!! Well like cancer treatment , we have to work for it feel some pain, feel some burn!
I get my six treatment, the techs really don't like the hard as a rock third boob I'm growing, and take a while to line me up, re- mark me in a a couple of places, and told me I was due for x-rays. So I spent a little longer in the "I'm being held up hold your arms" position.
THEN, I head home to get out of the itchy camisole I'm wearing, as not to wear a bra, and the DH calls to see if I want to go for dinner, that sounded great. I get home before him, take the itchy cami off and decide, well, they said no bra so now's a good a time as any....got in his truck, pulled out of the bumpy drive way...and I must have registered on the Richter scale, I couldn't even hold on to my boobs with my two hands! I needed four! Needless to say the seroma causes pain but when the tissue is all sitting in a bra it doesn't hurt so bad, but when they were flailing in the wind in the truck....OUCHIE!!!! We hadn't gotten to the end of the street when I told him, I can't do this, take me the store, I"m buying a bra!
Two sizes and a cup size bigger, and friends, then I'm out of cup sizes.....and an explanation to the clerk - can I leave it on if it fits....and ahhhh I was ready for dinner, finally....
I got home so exhausted I didn't even turn on the computer. Maybe I should stress out more? I sleep really well....
-
Ok..ladies, I did #5 today, and have finished 1 week.................yowza..............and came home scratched off my ticket, and won another $3.00 so now I have 4 wins out of 5 tickets. Not bed. Do I have won $24.00 to date, and I have 28 tickets left........Not bad
I've been up since 5am...Swore I wouldn't watch that Royal Wedding, but there was really nothing else on TV at that time, but I must say, glad I did........She was a very pretty bride.......thought she would have been more Princesss like, but she is kind of a plain Jane anyway, but very pretty.I just hope she gets through this ok, its a lot of pressure, and after what happened to Diane, I worry about her..............Must admit I am tired, but that could be the early rising....
-
Ladies you can see I'm tired........check out the typo's on that last thread...good heavens......It should be..............Not bad.............and So I have one.....................Lord I am tired, I was making mistakes, correcting my mistakes..............ZZZZZZZZZ, oh sorry, I dozed off for a minute.............hahahahahaha
-
ducky, you crack me up!
-
Ducky, you have to tell me what kind of scratch off you got, so I can buy the same kind!
-
Ducky-I am so jealous! I was going to get those scratch offs, but keep forgetting. I just finished #15 today. Your posts keep me laughing.
Gina-what a great story! Glad you got to go out to dinner after all that. I'm jealous, but a friend of mine is taking me to see the musical Wicked tonight, so trying to conserve my energy to stay up past 9 pm. Quite a feat for me lately
.
-
I am also halfway done! #15 out of 30. 3 more weeks & I am DONE with treatment. Meeting w/my PS Monday (Yay!! Can't wait.) Hoping we can set a date for recon surgery while I am there.
Sorry for you ladies dealing with the discomfort of bras, etc. I had a BMX, so I only need a bra or yoga tank w/my foobs for work or going out in public.
Glad to see everyone hanging on to their sense of humor in this thread!
-
10/33 done today...starting to turn a little pink and get itchy, forgetting about it and then scratching....ouch! Loving my rads techs and where I'm at...feeling very grateful to be on this road to recovery!
-
Evenin Ladies!
Had #20/27 today. Starting to get kinda red under my arm - Yesterday I noticed it was annoying me so I kept my shirt tucked in my armpit lol - but didn't think to look at it . doh! So today doc looks at it as friday is my day to see him and he shows me how red it is. Switchin to Aquaphor and if it starts getting painful gonna start using the aloe gel with lidocaine they gave me. Bleh! aquaphor is gooey. Lookin forward to this weekend as I get to see my hubby play tomorrow night at a gig at a friends house. Supposed to make something to take with me like a pot luck item - prolly will make cake - it's the easiest.
Started physical therapy tonite for my weakness in my legs. Feels like it is gonna be awhile before I get my energy levels back - the Cymbalta seems to help but wears off by the afternoon.
thegood5 - I keep forgetting and scratch too! ouchie! Ya think we would learn lol.
Ducky - so glad you ended up with us in this thread - sad it had to be this way to meet - but you have brought such a breath of fresh air and sarcasm and laughter to us, thank you!
Sag - hope that seroma gets better soon!
One more week down for most of us. Hang in there girls! I have 7 more to go..... starting the countdown.......
As time goes by, I am learning I am still alive, and that I have things to do in this life.
-
Well said Sammolisa! Me too!
-
22/25 and i have developed blisters in my armpit...what did i do wrong?? The skin there is a deep cherry red. Suddenly i am grateful that the axillary dissection left me numb there or else i would be in agony. Anybody else have blisters? What did u do for it?
-
ouch letlet! Hope it heals quickly for you!
