***How's the weather, on your neck of the woods?!***

We've got rain, rain and more rain.  Truly depressing, although I was down the cape (Cod) from Sunday to Wednesday and the sun did come out from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.  It is a little warmer - low seventies but with 100% humidity, it's not very comfortable.  Sorry for all the severe weather folks are having - if a tornado were coming, I would not have any idea what to do.

Sheila, we east coasters are gonna be blasted, big time.   All the stations here say 8 to 15 inches.  So far, it is only cloudy and cold, but they say this could be a record storm.    

The weather man had it pretty accurate, they said that we would start seeing snow/sleet around 9:00 am, it started at 8:30 and has been on again and off again with my car window completly covered at this time. The weather men are saying that my area will get 4-6 inches by Saturday, the stuff coming down now is a mix of snow, sleet and rain. temps are hovering around 33. My boss gave me the go-ahead when he left at 11 (usual time for him on Friday) that if I didn't feel comfortable staying all day to go home .  I am going home for lunch and not returning .

Pickle, how in the world do you keep warm?  BRRR, I like cold weather, but your weather is beyond cold!  Our Canadian friends must be much tougher than we are in the US!

In our big snow storm here in the western North Carolina mountains, we ended up with 15 inches of snow and everything is pretty much shut down, with lots of power outtages in the region.  Not sure how we've been so lucky at our house, but we're still on the grid.  Stay warm, everyone! 

I measured 20 inches of snow in a little less than 24 hours here in northern Virginia, across the river from Washington, DC.    The sun came out today and the melting has started.    My young, male (and handsome)  neighbor shoveled my driveway and we had never met before.   I am in an apartment complex with attached private garages.   I opened the garage door to see how bad it was and he was almost finished.   Otherwise I would have never known who did it.   

The snow removal team at this complex does not have snow shovels, so they were using one foot wide garden shovels.   There are 19 buildings and over 400 apartments....   All the sidewalks have a one foot wide path, which is better than nothing,  I guess.    It was a major storm, state wide emergency declared and they asked that no one go on the roads except medical, fire and police or get a $250 fine if a 4 wheel drive vehicle or $ 500 fine if not.   All 3 airports were closed.   

A white Christmas is nice, but by Friday it will probably be ugly, dirty, slushy and oh well, it is winter officially tomorrow.   Keep warm and safe,   Hugs,    Nancy 

cold here this morning, temp at my house was 18 degrees at 6:00 am. had bad winds last night.

Sheila, you are probably in an area like I am where people have no idea what "real snow and winter" is like.  Although snow is not unusual, they go about with blinders on and are amazed when it happens. Admittedly, 20 inches is a STORM and it was a novelty for many to get out and make snow balls and trudge around in it.  

I recall my childhood when we made snow forts by digging OUT snow piles, not piling the snow up - there was that much snow.  You never saw the ground from Halloween till Easter and some Easters there was snowfall.   Forget those pretty easter bonnets and new spring clothes...  

A friend from England told me that we, Americans, talk more about the weather than anything else.  "They" gossip about people, and have the Royal Family to thank for a lot of input.   Get out the long johns, bundle up, make a pot of stew or soup and keep warm.   Nancy 

Sheila, when snow is forecast, many workers have the option NOT to go in to work.   I forget what they call it.  The first snowfall after I moved here, everyone was stocking up at the grocery store and worried.  A total of 2 inches fell and (like you) we did not even get out our boots for 2 inches...

Tornadoes  in the Northeast are NOT typical!  This Spring has just been CRAZY everywhere!!!

We've been HOT here in Upstate NY for the last few days!  Not complaining though because we went through that reallt horrid spell a couple weeks back!

Hoping for safety for you and all of our sisters down in the Philly area! 

Strangely, we had some pretty nasty storms come through Sunday night (the kind that the thunder shakes your windows) but, the last couple of days, while HOT have been calm!  Hoping it's not the calm before the storm!!
