Looking for new oncologist
Does anyone know open-minded good oncologist in St. Louis area?

You might want to work backward and find a cancer center that has an active integrative section and find an oncologist there.

MOC, ha, ha, this is St. Louis
. There is no such thing. Thank you for suggestion anyway.
-
Are you sure? St. Louis isn't Mayberry. I would be surprised if none of the cancer centers have integrative sections. How about medical schools?

There is a nationally recognized cancer center affilitated with Washington University hospital in St. Louis. I had always heard, long before my cancer diagnosis, that Washington University Medical Center is really excellent.
-
Yes but they are all about western medicine, no one seams to be interested about talking about any treatment including alternative/ complementary ways. That is my main issue.
-
Interesting . . . I looked over the website and didn't find any references to complimentary care. Guess it is different in St. Louis.
-
Exactly! I just would like to find someone open-minded. I cannot effort to travel, out of the question for me. Anyway, thank you.

Simon Yu, MD, is in St. Louis. He isn't an oncologist but he will work with you on an integrative basis. Very well respected.

Did you try anyone at Washington University? Did you inquire whether any MOs there refer to integrative MDs. I know people irl who go to regular treatment centers and see integrative mds that work with MOs but who do not work at the same facility as the MO or try to take the place of the MO in the treatment plan.

I know people who go to this MD

Thank you ladies.

Just joined and saw your post. I used conventional treatment combined with an outside integrative doc - and many, many mind, body, spirit modalities. How about contacting the Wellness Community in St. Louis? Also, I used Dr. O.Carl Simonton's book "Getting Well Again" as my "bible." Also using Ave - American Biosciences - google them. David Wales/the president of the company there helped my find a local integrative practicioner. I've survived advanced breast cancer for 10 years now and still use most of these modalities daily.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. i gave my onco second try and it is working out much better. He actually ...listen! Anyway, I did so much of research that I feel well "equipped" for now. Best to all,
Agnieszka
