pxsunshine....wonderful pic and what a beautiful way to look at it!!! we are still here!!!1 love it!!!
-
Jules ~ my heart aches for you. I too have a 16 year old daughter. I cannot imagine your worry and stress. I have a feeling all will be fine. Hopefully it is just a b9 cyst. Prayers for you both.
JO ~ love the picture, you look beautiful and what a fine looking couple you make !!! Were you on the Valor? We were at one of the ports at the same time with that ship.
Phxsunshine ~ what a beautiful picture of your daughter's special day.
I love the sharing of photos.
TB exposure, YUCK ! Hang in there ~
my mind is mush can't remember anything else. Not sure if I told you girls, I was in the ER the day before our cruise. Felt awful again. Had an ekg, BRAIN SCAN, LUNG CT scan ~ all clear. Again dismissed me with anxiety. I cannot wait to see my oncologist in mid-May. I will go back on my tamoxifen next week after my surgery this Friday. I don't feel much better off of it so might as well go back on and hope it helps fight recurrance. I bought melatonin today I am going to try it at night after my surgery. I need to learn how to relax, I am so tense.......... worrying about worrying. I was in such a better place a few months ago. I think it is the upcoming surgery, daughter's 3 prom dates ~ and my 6 month checks coming up with the oncologist. I also am looking forward to the kids being home from school for the summer and having a calmer schedule.
Sorry for the venting. WHEW I feel better.HUGS !
-
Alicia - This is the place to vent if and when you need to. I know this whole BC think sucks. Lots to worry about. And then all the medical appts and the dreaded waiting game.
We were on the Conquest. We parked right beside the Valor when we were in Cozumel. We had a balconey on the port side and we talked to a couple on the other ship. They were going back to Florida. We left about an hour after them and headed back to Galveston.
-
Alicia sorry you are not feeling much better off of tamox. Have you every tried yoga. I started yoga right before I was diagnosed. I have to say it has been really good for me both physically and emotionally. It has really helped me learn how to calm myself plus the physical benefits have been great. I have lost weight and am in better shape than I have been in in 20 years. I also started walking about 2 weeks after my surgery.
-
Alicia vent away... I have been havong terrile anxiety and dizzness where I cant drive. Called Onc today and aslked if I could take a little 2 week break so my body could settle down from all that has happened.....it all started back up right around the time of her sdmission so I know its related. She said no she wants me to come in tomorrow... so a friend is kind enough to drive me up to Arlington to go see her ugh!!1. I hate this feeling!!!!!!
so vent away girlfriends I just did
Love to you all!!!!!!
Maria
-
Tink - Let us know what the Onc has to say. I worry about you girlfriend.
-
Tink so glad you have someone that can drive you to see your daughter. Keep us posted on what the Onco says.
-
Picked my sister up from airport today. She is visiting from the UK.
Drinks are on me this evening. She brought over Tequila, Baileys and Grand Marnier for the top shelf margarita's. Bottums up!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone for your support. Hoping we know what is going on with my daughter by the end of tomorrow. Then onto my mammo on Thursday. This is never ending. Grrrr
Jules
-
Thanks girls ! And Tink that is what happens to me too. Dizzy, heart races and I feel like I can't breathe ~ It's awful. Hope you get some answers.
-
Jules - I think I will join you and your sister for a drink - I sure could use one right about now.
Wishing the best for your daughter and B9 results on your mammo. It seems like it never ending, doesn't it?
-
ok so am I a super-wimp if I am weeping as I read these posts? WTH??? think I am tired...or was at work too long for one shot today...but yes...very grateful..
-
Alicia/Tink- check out your cardiac rehab clinic in your city...see if they do stress classes like the one I am taking or call the local hospital and see if someone in the community puts them on...they talk about physical symptoms, emotional triggers...ways to calm yourself etc...might help...these are scary times. How did you feelw hen you were away for the week? The exact same thing happens to my sister when she gets stressed out..heart pounds, she gets dizzy, fels like he is going to pass out...panic attack....deep breathing through one nostril is what she says she does to calm herself and slow her heartbeat down...
Jules- how did it go??
swansea...enjoy the time with your sister!
-
Jo and Alicia, where in 2013? I am cruising one day next month and have 2012. If all goes well may jump on another one day in Sept. What ship were you on? I love cruising, wish I would have been with you.
-
Jules and Alicia that is a great idea that Sandee has about the stress class. After my son died and I was so depressed and having horrible anxiety attacks. The therapist that I was seeing taught me stress coping mechanisms. I still use them today. When i get stress I know what to do to calm myself down.

Also update on my Dad. He had surgery yesterday and they removed about 8 inches of his colon and were able to reattach it without a colostomy. He did great and is on the Surgical ward and did not have to go to ICU. He was in alot of pain last night and my mom stayed at the hospital with him. We have a large family so 1/2 way there yesterday and the other 1/2 will be there today. I will go back on Thursday and see him after my RO follow up. My Dad is so funny and very hard of hearing and I asked him "Do you hurt really bad?" and he said "My back is fine but my stomach is killing me".
Thanks for all your prayers!

greytcruise - We were on the Carnival Conquest out of Galveston. There are no definite plans yet for 2013. I want to find something that takes us to different ports. We have been to Jamaica and Cayman Islands so many things, I am tired of them. I can always go to Cozmel as they have great snorkeling there.
Sherry - So glad your father made it through surgery and did not have to spend time in the ICU. Good news about him not having a colostomy. Wishes for a speedy recovery. This is a stressful time for you - take care of yourself. Sending HUGS to you.
Hi Nancy - Haven't seen you on here in awhile. Hope you are well.
-
You all seem like such lovely ladies. I'm glad I've found you. Jules, I have you and your daughter in my prayers. SherryC, glad you've got such a nice supportive family; wishing your Dad well.
Could I hit you guys up for a bit of cheering up? I am having a down day. I had to have so many blood tests today it took the tech 20 mins to look up all the codes. I joked that I was going to have no blood left. Then I spent my 7th consecutive Weds at the dentist. (I take Zometa IV 2x a year and need clean dental bill of health in order to get it. And I have terrible teeth...) This may not sound like that much, and actually it isn't in the big scheme of things, but medical tests, any medical tests now, make me terribly anxious. My BC was found in a routine mammogram. No lump, no symptoms. I pranced in there expecting my 11th normal mammogram in a long life full of boring but dutiful mammograms. Having anything wrong was honestly the last thing on my mind. I even brought cookies for the staff!
Until that day I don't think I'd ever had an abnormal test result if you can believe that. (OK I have mild adult asthma... and a little bit of hip bursitis. Oh, and allergic to chocolate!) When things began to spin out of control ("We see something suspicious," then US, then immediate biopsy on the table...) I was so ill-equipped. I began to shake and in retrospect I think I was in real physical shock.Things moved very quickly for me (my husband is a surgeon on staff where I had the mammogram, and you should see how shaken up a breast center staff gets when the wife of one of their surgeons suddenly has a positive read,) and I didn't have more than 10 days between dx and mastectomy. I am not complaining about this, and it was my choice, but there was little time to absorb anything.
I find I am ok more and more of the time, doing ok basically on tamoxifen and the zometa. But medical tests throw me, even the simplest blood tests. Once one has gone haywire, out of the blue, I guess anything can happen. I am going for a colonoscopy soon (and a few other tests) and think I will bring a truckload of Xanax with me.
Thanks for allowing me to vent. I feel better knowing you're listening.

Shari sorry you are having a down day. I always get nervous when I have to see the MO and have all the blood drawn as well and then I think I have obsessive compulsive behaviors in getting my results and see if anything changed from the last time. We each process things differently and you are safe to vent here.
-
Shari - Things do tend to move very fast sometimes. My story is very similar to yours. Always had normal mammos until last year. Then it was a second mammo, US and biospy. From date of dx to lumpectomy was 10 days. No time to think about anything. Never thought of BC throughout the mammos and US - no family history. It was a total shock to hear the words.
I don't know if any of us are equipped to deal with the initial process. Somehow we find the strength to get through it and we all do. This is such a good place to come and vent - you do that anytime you need to.
Sending HUGS to you.

Hi My Tami Train Buddies,
I haven't posted here for a while as I've been adjusting to bein on the Tami Train...I've been on it for 4 months and seems that most of my side effects are what I would get going through menopause anyway. Chemo bumped me into menopause and with Tami I have hot flashes, trouble sleeping and a few hot episodes at night where I have to throw the covers off or I think I will go insane, more emotional than usual it would be easy to put on weight so I'm keeping an eye on calories and keeping a regular exercise routine.
One weird thing that happened this week, though, is that I got a rash on my lower back that goes to the sides of my hips and on the insides of my knees and a teeny bit on the insides of my wrists. I don't know if this is a Tami SE or just a heat rash or maybe from an insect or spider bite, as spring has brought the bugs out. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a rash, looks like heat rash and that most wonderful Aloe Vera is so soothing! Any advice would be so welcome!
Hope you gals are doing well and it's fun to check in with you!!
Big hugs to you all and a wink to Jo!

Dear Beanius, I'm kind of new here, but funny you should mention the rash! I've had a rash on the tops of both feet and my shoulders (weird places) on and off since I started Tam. It starts out all red and very itchy and then turns white and scaly. (Very attractive.) I happened to be at my GP's office today and I showed it to him and he said, 'Very nice, a rash,' in brilliant diagnostic fashion. He doesn't think it's an allergy to T. If you read up on SEs dry skin and rashes are mentioned, as rare but possible. I've found that putting moisturizer on it helps and while unusual, it's really not that bad.
Nice to meet you. Don't scratch!
Shari

Shari ~ Hoping you are able to find some calm in your day of testing. BC surely changes us in so many ways. Glad to have you hear. This is a fine bunch of ladies, I don't know how I could of made it through all of this without you all !
Beans ~ nice to see you ! No idea on the rash. One side effect that missed me.
Jo ~ so true, somehow we just find the strength to get through it all ! Some days are harder than others.
Hope everyone is having a good day. I am nesting trying to get everything in order for my nip surgery on Friday. I am having skin grafts done off my hips, I say from hips to nips. And my daughter's Junior Prom is Saturday ~ I will have about 80 kids on my lawn for photos pre-prom. Lord help me.
-
Helloooooo sgreenarch,
Thanks for the info, my, that does sound like such helpful diagnostic work from your GP, and your rash does sound lovely. So far mine is little red dots and bigger red welts on my knees, these go good with vericose veins - ha ha ha! I had also read that a rash is a rare Tami SE, so who knows, yet another fun adventure. Never had a rash before, but heck, after all I have beeeeeen thru this past year, a few itchy dots should be a breeze. I will take your advice and use moisturizer and no scratchy-itchy!

Beans - So good to have you back on the train and you are adjusting to the Tami. It has been such a long time since we have heard from you and you have been missed very much. I can't help you with the rash - perhaps someone else will chime in with some suggestions.
Don't stay away so long next time.
Love & Hugs
Jo
-
beanius and Shari-can't help you on the rash either as I somehow how managed to miss that SE. I think I was lucky enough not to get every other SE.
-
Alicia - sorry I must have been typing when you posted and I missed you. Best wishes to you for an easy surgery Friday and wow, Saturday sounds busy, 80 kids!
Jo - thanks so much for the welcome, this is a fun train!
Sherry - I'm so glad you didn't get a rash SE!
Maybe it's fleas! Just kidding, I don't have any pets - LOL!
-
Shari.... so sorry you are having a rough day hang in there we are here for you to vent always..
Sherry so glad all went well with your dad prayers will keep coming.....
Onc said today she didnt think the dizzness was a "cancer" concern that it was stress but she said I could back down to 10mg a day for 2 weeks and see how that goes but if I still felt that way then to call them and maybe go to a neurologist.... i am almost certain it is stress... but will take the bump down for 2 weeks.
Jules thinking about you and your daughter today hugs and hope all is well
hI Jo and June hug
-
Sherry so glad things are looking a little better with your Dad and thanks for keeping us in the loop.
