I am wearing a sample of j'adore or something like that. Very floral. I like Light Bkue for men! I like scent a lot too. I think I will wear samples only bs getting into my scents that I lOVE while going through chemo.
-
I'm presently using Avons Fergie scent. LOVE it!!! I tend to use a muskier floral scent, no citrus for me.
I'm wearing lip gloss on my big pic on the previous page; I'm 53. (I dare any of my peers to post such a close-up! hehehehehehhe) Am I too old for it? I thought it looked more natural. I'm finding that regular lipsticks bleed as well and I do use foundation and powder around my lips! I remember the first time I saw the bleed. I almost passed out! I was walking around all day talking to customers with feathery lips!!
-
Barbe...First off, great picture! I wouldn't have the courage to go THAT close up! YOU GO GIRL!!!!
Regarding the gloss...first off, your lipstick color choice is BEAUTIFUL! Whatever it is that you do, gloss or not,...don't stop!! It works for YOU. That's the bottom line...ya gotta do what floats YOUR boat!
I guess because I have an adult daughter, I gauge myself by both of us. I've become very critical of mother/daughter combos. You see what I mean when you see the Richards mother/daughter. The daughter got her mother's appearance gene....but she's not a clone of her mother. Whereas Ann Richards did the "Everything is bigger in Texas" hairstyle, it looks like her daughter is happy with a pixie.
In the orbit that I live in, the gripe I have with mother/daughers...is that too many moms IMMITATE their daughters' styles. Interestingly though, my daughter and I both choose more classic clothes than anything else...an eclectic scarf or piece of costume jewelry is usually all we need. I'm contridicting myself here, I know. But my point is, my daughter STILL gets to enjoy stuff, that I think is way too youthful to me. She can pull off a spaghetti string strap shoulder. Me? Forget it! I still enjoy an occasional halter top...but I'd prefer to see her in it. Light jeans....Forget that too! My daughter put me in dark jeans or white jeans and that's all. And all of them have to have some forgiving SPANDEX...my new best friend. Blouses and T shirts too....ALL have to have SPANDEX!
Now finally, back to the gloss. The DD wears it well and with a little shimmer too. Looks divine on her. On me? Not so much. I feel blessed to have a daughter. Thankfully, just one, who happens to be more BRUTALLY honest with me than I've ever been with her....and I thank my lucky stars every, single day that she is brutally honest with me AND that she's my daughter!
I rely on her judgment when I choose what I wear and we both agree, lipstain and sheer lipsticks float MY boat!

Calyx by Prescriptives.

VR got it about the mother/daughter looks. Here's my DD with Zach:
She gets away with eyeliner, which I can't do and doesn't use a coloured lip gloss at all. No blush, just heavy on the eyes. My other step-DD does the same thing with the eyes. I just can't do that! I look like a hooker when I try that look. Both DDs have long hair too, and I look better in short hair.

Perfume??? I have alot of Floral sents by Escada. My favorite is Moon Sparkle. All the Escada scents are perfect for the summer weather. My seconds favorite is Daisy by Marc Jacobs, and Dior Addict. Another nice floral is Lovely by SJP. Perfume and Gel Nails were my indulgences all through my treatment year.My gel nails never came off but i have a really careful manicurist who I hve been going to for years. This is how I keep my nails.Matches any outfit you wear.

Why does the bride have her ring on the wrong hand?
-
Lol Too funny I never even noticed.
-
Details Mum!! It's all in the details!!!!
-
Wow-wee...Barbe! What a beautiful family. Looks like your daughter got the good genes....and Zach is one lucky fella!
Ladies...regarding perfumes....do you change your scents in the summer, as well as, in the evening?
I've smelled the Marc Jacobs, Daisy...I'm going to go back and have another whiff.
-
I use a bottle until it's gone and rarely buy the same scent twice. I've done that twice and the second time the bottle jut sits there. It's like I'm "over it".
I wear the same scent night or day. Whenever my son hugs me he always says "you smell good!" I LOVE that he even notices!! hehehehehehehh
-
I wish I were like you Barbe...It takes me years to find a scent...and then I wear it for decades...I've only worn a handful of scents.
My favorite scent in the whole wide world is Casaque by Jean D'Albret. I wore Chanel's Cristalle for many years. I've been thinking of switching to the new Chanel Cristalle Eau Verte...but I'm not sure.
I bought Light Blue when it first hit the market. Loved it. Still wear it in the Summer. My go to perfume is Bvlgari's Extreme Au The Vert. It's been discontinued, so it's impossible to find a fresh bottle. Oy.
-
My winter fragrance is Lauren by Ralph Lauren.I like to change for the season. When I used to go out at night I was Chanel #5 girl. Sigh!! Thoses days seem to be gone.
-
Mumayan...Oy...if you ONLY knew what Chanel #5 smelled like on me...You'd never wear it again! Oy!
Meanwhile, has anyone ever worn Jean Nate? Really? I once bought a bottle. I don't remember if I liked it or not. What's the deal with it?
-
Its quite funny how our body chemistry can change a scent. My daughters favorite scent smells great in the bottle but not on me.I think its by Armani. She also wears the newest Chanel scent I forget the name but it is too sweet smelling for me.
-
Beautiful daughter, Barbe and darling grandson. I think the last perfume I really liked and wore was Ambush....tells you how long ago that was. If I buy it, I don't wear it as they all seem to make me sneeze. I really like Clinique's Aromatics....one of my good friends wears that and whenever I smell it, I think of her.
-
Voracious, if you like green scents, you won't like Euphoria (I like sweet florals). I know Philosophy has a new Grace scent that is green - I think it's called Eternal Grace.
Ladies, if you go to Basenotes.net, you can read fragrance reviews.

Cute DD and baby !!!!
-
Adorable DD & grandbaby, Barbe! DD looks so much like you!
And if the wedding photo is from a European mag, then I believe the right hand would be correct.
Perfumes... rarely wear them, but when I do, Jo Malone Amber & Lavendar, and Armani Elle (it's a hydrating body mist) if I want something lighter. (Did this conversation start re. safe perfumes, or just out of curiosity??? I have no idea if mine would pass re. safety, but I don't use them enough to be concerned.) Deanna

Barb, u r sooooo lucky to be a grandma !!!!
Aromatics by Clinique has patchouli. Most any
perfume with some patchouli makes me weak
in the knees, love it, if only I could bathe in it !
just came across a good tip: spray some perfume
on body lotion before applying, i thought that
was smart -
Mumayan, is that your groom ? Cause he,s also
Wearing ring in right hand))
-
Annick Goutal makes an incredible line of fresh, soft smells. I'm crazy for gardenia-inspired things.
I've been scared off of perfume from the reports that it might not be good for ER+ cancers. I might get back on it, especially with some of these recommendations. I certainly do love smart perfume, on men, too! My colleague wears Hermes, it's unbelievable.
-
Hey ladies ! Thanks for the info on bronzer ! How to use bronzer has always been one of life's little mysteries !
-
My favourite perfumes are J'Dore by Dior and Allure by Chanel, love them both equally! The Allure i particularly like in the body lotion as it seems to last forever in and out of the container.
-
I wear Intuition in the winter and Pleasure Intense in the spring and summer both by Este Lauder. It is funny how your body chemical changes the smell. I have two really good friends that love how I smell wearing both of these. They both bought them and can't stand the way they smell on them. Oh well at least I get compliments when I wear them.
Barb-addorable family you have.
-
Sherry, why don't you lighten your friends loads by taking their perfumes?
I don't see HOW my DD looks like me!! That's why I posted it. She is beautiful!! Has a gorgeous smile!!
If Cliniques new perfume has patchoulli, I, too, will have to check it out!!
-
Hadley... Fresh Laundry by Clean. I know how Coco Chanel came up with the name #5... butFresh Laundry? .....Brilliant name for a perfume!!! I am definitely going to check out that scent!
-
Reading the New York Times this morning, came across reporter and author, Diana B. Henriques. I always wondered what she looked like. Wouldn't you say, beauty and brains? Notice the salt and pepper hair, pixie cut, and the lipstick that makes her whole face and smile pop! Now that's how I want to look in a couple of more years....now if I only had the brains...
-
OMy Voracious Reader- Your are a very smart women- yeah brilliant from reading your posts.
Hold you head high! Have a good day.
Chocolate

Thanks Chocolate...but I have to do a lot of reading to be smart. There's another planet out there of REALLY smart gals....that are really out of this world! Honestly, there's a lot of women out there whose brains and accomplishments take my breath away. And then, I've got one dear friend who NEVER even went to college and I think she's the smartest person I know when it comes to street smarts and I trust her judgment more than anyone else's!
