Easter Sunday morning anxiety
Please help me. Since my diagnoses on April 5th I have been haveing bad anxiety in the morning. I don't want to take lorazapm right now because it makes me tired, but I might have to. This cominng week is all my big tests, pet scan, bone scan and I am terrified. What helped you? Things are not looking so good for me and I am sad and scared. ANd I have to go be social today, thank goodness with only a small group of family.

(((bkj66))), I'm so sorry you're feeling sad and scared today, and I just wanted to send you a cyber hug as a way of bumping your question for maybe some more practical input. I will also pray that your scans are totally clear! Thinking of you ~ Deanna

I take the Ativan (Lorazapam) at night and it helps during the day. I want to say that I know it is hard to control your mind right now but I'm a big believer in trying to not worry about anything before it's time - plenty of time to do that if you need to.
Things will probably be OK but try to live in the here and now and enjoy that - worrying will not help. Tell yourself everything will be OK - you're just as likely to be right - they probably will be with the tests.
I have these tests constantly and I used to sometimes overly fixate on what the technicians did and would say during the tests. If they reshot something, I would be concerned. During the bone scan, they might ask about my hip or neck. These turned out to mean nothing - I have osteoarthritis in my neck and hip.
Stay calm and enjoy your Easter!

Today turned out enjoyable, I was a bit anxious but was able to enjoy the company of my great niece and great nephew. Nobody brought up the c word and I was very happy with that. I did feel just slightly anxious, and actually felt better when I got home. I get to see a psychiatrist tomorrow. I hope this helps...

If you're feeling extra anxious in the morning, take a half tablet instead. It may be just enough to take the edge off without making you to drowsy. If you have a cancer center with support group, a visit might be good for you. Patients and counselor will listen to your axieties and fears and will amaze you with their support and you won't feel so alone. I have built great relationships through this venue. Wished I'd done it at the beginning of my journey. There is much knowledge to be gained in these groups because we share the physical, mental, stress, anxiety, and even some good laughs. The center may also provide you with some great reading material that may help to ease some of your anxiousness as you prepare for all that you're going into.

I see a psychologist who works with cancer patients and he's been a big help to me.

Thank you, I have an appointment today with a psychiatrist, I guess she is suppose to be really good. I woke up again today with anxiety and uncontrollable crying. My husband was home all weekend and had to work today. I do feel so alone, even when hubby is home or around people. I feel like they just don't get it, and they really don't. They are so nice and supportive and I do appreciate that. I need to be able to realize that there is still more to my life than this cancer, but I just can't seem to be able to enjoy the good all around me, as I am too scared.

I believe that anxiety meds at night would really help you a lot and don't usually leave you tired or dopey during the day. Also, there are very predicable stages and emotions associated with learning you have BC. I think the psychiatrist will help you to understand and move through these stages or emotions and be a good source of info about anxiety meds.
