Soy and cancer?

I been reading posts and I was wanting more info on soy in the diet for bc patients? Are we suppose to stay away from it and what are the reasons for it? I been trying to stay away from it but just realized my bread, cooking oil ,butter ,and salad dressings all contain soy .Is this why my doc said to mostly just eat veggies,fruit and lean meat because of all the soy in products?Thx for any info im so confused on the subject.

    My mom's doctor told us soy contains plant hormones, so should try to stay away from soy milk.

    But in general, it's fine to eat moderate amounts of soy foods as part of a balanced diet. One to 3 servings of soy a day (a serving is about a half cup) is similar to an average Japanese woman's daily soy intake.

    The article does end by saying that foods with soy in them eaten in moderation are fine.  It warns mainly against supplements, especially for women who are on hormone therapy like tamoxifen.

    I talked to my onc and he said that there is no scientific proof, only opinions about the soy theory.  He also reminded me that as a triple negative patient, my cancer isn't driven by estrogen so it shouldn't be a problem.  However, I do believe that everything should be had in moderation, as mentioned above.

    Thx everyone for the info. I been looking at all the food lately and never really knew how much had soy in it in some form or another .I know its not 100% verified its bad but im leaning on the side of caution and cutting back just in case cause I was eating it in everything I made.Again thx for giving me an idea of what it was all about:)
