My BS office just called to schedule my MX date.  First let me say that my biopsy was done on April Fool's day. I was not laughing though told everyone they could tell me this was all a big joke and I would be much happier.

Anyways, BS office just called, my MX date is 5/13. Yep that is Friday the 13th.  I think someone upstairs is having a very good laugh at my expense.  I laughed so hard at the date, that I cried.  Really what are the odds?  Biopsy done on April's Fool and MX Friday the 13th.

I've decided to look at it this way, they are removing the evil boob on the evil day, so they cancel each other out and I can only have a good result Laughing

One lady at work told me she would change dates, would you?

    no, I wouldn't change dates, your way of thinking is good.  Take whatever humor you can in this trip.  good luck.

    What a laugh - those dates!  Anyhow I don't think it's a big deal and they will leave you with the story to tell.  It's always someone's holiday out there anyway.  My MX surgery was done on a Jewish holiday, day of the dead.  I am not Jewish but my friend is and she told me this.  She told me she could never do a surgery on that day.  Well I did and it went excellent. So don't worry. Smile

    Hell no, Friday the 13th is a lucky day.........My daughter was married on Friday the 13th back in 1994, and has a fantastic marriage...............Go for it.

    Italians  consider 13 a lucky number and my mom always told me this growing up. As long as your suregons are good, that's all that matters.--Julie

    I married an Italian, and his family was good doing the maloikes............and they weren't kidding

    I was married to an Italian...............have you ever had the maloikes put on you.............or as Medigans would call it "the evil eye".

    I had an aunt who used to remove the "evil eye" for us. I once had a student who said , "I hope bad things will happen to you" (she was failing the class), so my mom had  Aunt Plora remove the curse. This was 15 years ago. I wish my aunt was still alive--maybe I would have avoided cancer (now almost 3 yrs ago)-- propbably not!  But seriously, once the medical team is in place and surgery is scheduled, it's really a hassle to change the date, and the best thing to do is to get it out of your body ASAP.--Julie

    I'd have no problems with the date. Along with getting rid of the cancer, you'll have a good story to tell and that in itself is worth its weight in four leaf clovers.

    However, if you're wheeled into the OR and find your doctor clutching a rabbit foot, wearing a horseshoe around her neck and throwing salt over her shoulder, I'd be a little nervous. Of course, if she whips out a wishbone to see who gets to make the first cut, that too would be a hint that perhaps your doctor is Friday the 13th phobic.

    I didn't know there was a Day of the Dead in Judaism, I thought that was just Halloween in Mexico!

    Nah, don't change the date.  I agree, it's all unfolding with the sense of humor necessary to get through this.

    I think this "Day of the Dead" she is referring to is the 9th of Av. It's not actually the "Day of the Dead" but the day that the first and second Holy Temples in Jerusalem were destroyed. It is a day of national (religious)fasting and mourning. It is also a remembrance day for those who have died if we don't know the date they died (otherwise their remembrance is on that date). In general, it's not considered an good day for Jews, which is why Beacon's friend said she wouldn't have surgery on that day. I have to tell you, neither would I. However, it was not a problem for Beacon since she's not Jewish so it wouldn't affect her.

    On the other hand, I had my mx in operating room #13 and wasn't worried since 13 is not an unlucky number for Jews.

    You ladies are so awesome! I'm so glad others are laughing with me :)  I had to see my regular doctor tonight, because shock of shock, my blood pressure is through the roof. When I told him my surgery was scheduled for Friday the 13th, I could tell he wanted to laugh but didn't know how I would take it, so once I started laughing, he did.

    I would never change the date. I work in health care (okay billing but still...) I know it is just another day to them. I should check the moon though....working in a nursing home I can say, it does affect people. Then again, I truly do not believe my doctors suffer from dementia, so I should be good ;)

    Though I agree, if I get wheeled in and my doctor is clutching a rabbits foot and throwing salt over his shoulder, I'm running out the door, I don't care if my fanny or boobs are showing!

    Definitely keep the date (I always think of Friday the 13th as an especially lucky date, personally). . . and keep your wonderful sense of humor!  Best wishes and smooth sailing from here on out.
