edited June 2014 in Stage III Breast Cancer

This will be my fourth in 5 years - this time it's for (hopefully) arthritis pain in my right hip, which I've been dealing with on & off since even before my diagnosis. After we take care of this "formality" my radiologist will be referring me to an orthopedic specialist. I just can't get past the nagging feeling that at any time I could be boarding the Stage IV train...

...hope the wait for results isn't too long...!

Julie

Julie, we all have those aches and pins as we get older. Hips and knees are the most common areas for it to settle in, but I also have it in my feet and hands. That gives me some thing to compare my pain to...if it's like those spots, I'm pretty sure it's just another spot of arthritis.

And let's NOT get started on what the anti-estrogen meds do to our joints.

Still, you have my prayers it's not mets!

As always, thank you guys so much for propping me up...just got back from Portland a few hours ago & was disappointed that the kindly technician we had the last 2 times didn't appear afterwards & reassure us. Trying not to obsess on what THAT might mean - wonder if arthritis looks anything like bone mets on a scan??

Anyway - radiologist wants me to call him if I haven't heard by Tuesday...maybe I can NOT be at work when that happens...

It seems weird to say that I hope it's arthritis.  It's not that I'm wishing that on you but I don't want you to have the alternative.  Once upon a time I would have thought that after 5 years the anxiety would get better.  Now I'm understanding that it make lessen some but we never lose it.  I'm hoping you can forget about it for a little while and enjoy the weekend.  As much as possible in this ridiculous winter we are having in the Northwest that just doesn't want to go away!

Julie - sorry you're going the anxiety of waiting for scan results.  I have heard that arthritis can resemble mets on scans, and of course we're prone to arthritis in the soggy Northwest.

Thanks again for watching over me....still playing the waiting game but I intend to call them right before 5:00 if I haven't heard anything. I did get out last year's bone scan & it said "per previous scan, uptake in the right hip suggestive of arthritis/arthrosis".....

....I think I'm going to go with that :)

I'm having alot of arthritis issues as well and was told chemo and meds just make it worse.  So, I agree...let's go with that. Smile

    YAY....GOOD NEWS!

My dear sweet radiologist called me at quarter to six last night (guess he works late!). Bone scan shows NO METS - however as we suspected there is increased "activity" in the right hip, which accounts for my (arthritis?) pain. I have an appt with an ortho next month to begin addressing THAT issue.

Thanks again to all of my wonderful supportive sisters! My next stop: the 5-year check-in thread - I'm hitting that milestone next Thursday!

    Still dodging those bullets...Julie
