Do I have Bone Mets? Can they spread this fast?

I've been having pretty severe pelvic pain for about a year and was diagnosed with ovarian cysts (likely caused by the tamoxifen).  I've also had on/off upper leg pain since chemo and radiation (done in 8/09) I've had a couple of bone scans and mammograms that have come back clean, but now the pain in my pelvis is much worse, so onco ordered a bone scan on Friday.  That was yesterday and already today I'm having SERIOUS pain in my tailbone (that actually started a few days ago), collarbone (near where I had breast cancer), and even the bones in my hands and one foot.  I've also been having bad chills, shivering, and much worse pain when I go to bed at night.  I don't think it's arthritis, as I'm only 41.  Is it possible for bone mets to spread this quickly?  When I had the bone scan, I looked over at the screen and my skeleton was lit up like an airstrip.  Not good?  I see the onco for results on Monday.

Newslady, I am so sorry you are going through this.  I can identify, you seem to share my pains as well as my age, my bone scan is Monday.  Hang on tight and we'll find out together.  Lots of ladies will be by soon, you'll have a bunch of good thoughts and prayers heading your way. (((HUGS)))

Bone mets can spread quickly, but I've never heard of it showing up in hands or feet.  Everything looks bad to me in a scan so I don't try to interpret them anymore.  I know it's hard to wait, but your onc will have all the answers to you soon.  And I hope they're all good.  Hugs,

I have worked for an orthopedic surgeon for the last five years, and I will tell you, arthritis does show up lighter on Xrays and scans.  Also, I am only 35, and I have been getting treated for osteoarthritis in my knees and feet for years.  Also, I had a really bright white spot show up on my back t-11/t-12 and it was just degenerative changes.  The doctor asked me if I ever did gymnastics or running in school.  I did, and apparently it caught up to my knees and feet.  I know it is easier said than done, but try to keep in mind it could very well be arthritis.  Also, I have ovarian cysts that have gotten worse on the Tamoxifen as well, and I know it has caused me alot of pelvic and back pain, so that could contribute as well.  Did they do any sort of bloodwork to rule out infection of some kind?  Good luck and keep us posted.  Take Care.  Allison

I had a 2 cm tumor removed in Aug., 2010, and a bone scan later that same month.  It was clear.  My PET scan in Nov. 2010, showed bone mets from my neck down my spine to the long bones, and ribs.  That was actually less than 2 months later.  By the way, I have never really had any pain at all.  I haven't needed even a tylenol.
