Friend just hit 5 years!
Ran into an old friend of mine today. She was dx 5 years ago end of March with Her+ breast cancer. She had went into her physician's office complaining of a swollen sore neck. Well, it was IDC breast cancer. She doesn't know how many nodes she had positive because they were so many and they were so clumped together.Nodes positive all the way up into the neck. Well, she just made 5 years with ned. She looks great and feels great. She is still on femara since she was also E+. Thought some of you would like to hear her success story. Also know of an IBC Her+ who also had many nodes who was just in our clinics news letter for celebrating 6 years.

You made our day with such heartening news. How long was your friend on herceptin? Did she have to go through repeat cycles?
-
My friend did some herceptin before her surgery since she wanted a lumpectomy. She was able to get the lumpectomy so the tumor had shrunk greatly. I believe she did one year of the herceptin. It never came back so she never had to do any repeat. They kept her port in for the fist 3 years, I believe they wanted to be ready if needed. The lady who had the IBC goes to my hair salon with the same gal I use. She said the lady was the first at the clinic to get herceptin since it was 2005 when they just approved it. Quess she and the doctor both cried as they started the IV. I believe she also only did one year and I know she never had a repeat.
