Turmeric receipe - how much to use

Options

Hi.  I try to get curcurim through cooking.  I have a book of low fat Indian receipes and try to go a vege a day with tumeric, garlic, ginger, and pepper.  Does anyone know how much tumeric is recommended through diet and how the interaction of all the spices work.  Also interested in exchanging recipes.

We have made up a shaker with 1/3 each of turmeric, garlic and black pepper.  I liberally sprinkle it on my veggies every night.  We also put it in all soups and sauces.

Yum! Ruth's recipe sounds delicious. I usually add about 1/3 tsp in a lot of things I cook. I add it to almost everything I heat up on the stove, along with black pepper. I personally have found that it doesn't seem to change the taste much, it just seems to add color to the dish. Or perhaps I am immune to the flavor of it??  I always make sure to add black pepper, as it is supposed to increase the effectiveness by a large percentage.

My go to dish? Chicken (either tenders--hormone/organic, or drumsticks from WF), cooked on stovetop in olive oil, turmeric, black pepper, salt.I brown the chicken for a few mins, then add water and organic chicken broth (sometimes wine), set on med/low and cook for about 20 more mins.

I am very experimental with this, and will sometimes add garlic, lemon, lemon pepper seasoning, dried cranberries, any frozen veggies I have. I just cook the chicken first, then add up to 3 colors of vegetables, like carrots, bell peppers, etc. My recipe changes from week to week, but I usually serve this up at least 1X per week. I serve it on brown rice, as I am gluten intolerant. Just add things that you like to see what type of dish you come up with.  Just remember to get as many colored veggies in there as possible!!

    Good luck and happy eating!
