I am scheduled for radiation as I finished chemo a week and a half ago.  However, my PS talked about me having the implant exchange before rads.  How long can one delay the radiation?

Thank you!

My last chemo was the end of Feb.  End of March I had a MX and I started Radiation in the middle of May.  So I guess a good little while.

Hi cat! My last chemo was feb 3, and my exchange was schduled 3 weeks after that with the intention of starting rads 4 weeks after the exchange. I ended up having shingles and my my exchange was march 10 and first dose of rads was march 29th and this was all ok with my rad onc.

I believe that I read somewhere that the window is about 12 weeks long.

When I asked my onc about the timeframe on starting rads, he seemed pretty flexible on it.  I didn't press too hard to determine exactly how flexible though.

Thanks everyone!  I met with the rad onc  and he said having the implant exchange first and delaying rads won't make a difference.  Hope I am doing the right thing.....these docs never seem to have alot of time to talk (I'm in Canada).
