    Pawprint- So happy to hear the headache went away! I hope you have a wonderful night.

    I agree- have some fun with a wig- this is one time you don't have to worry about color coming out, and if you don't like one wig that morning, put on another one! I am usually a brunette, and my wigs are redheads.

    Just got home from my port surgery. This was done under a full anesthetic and I'm feeling good.



    Surgery was at 8am and I was discharged at 11.30am. It was way easier than my mastectomy 4 weeks ago. Apart from having to be careful on that side for a few days and the odd pulling feeling in my neck, all good.



    Now this step is done I'm ready to get started with chemo. The sooner we start the sooner we finish!



    Next week I'm planning on going wig shopping. I'm taking my daughters (aged 6 & 9) with me and letting them have input. Hopefully they don't try and get mummy into something radical!!

    i want to do a wig but not sure where to go..we have a store shhh it a wig but wasn't sure if they had good stuff or bad??

    KiwiMum - I am glad to hear that you had a good port experience. I got mine in last Friday. The port made the whole thing feel more definite for me. This is really going to happen now. The pulling goes away after a couple of days. The tendons in my neck feel bruised, but it's not too bad. Sleeping that first night was a little tricky. I had a hard time lifting my head up from the laying down position, it felt weak. Tylenol worked well the first two days. Hope you get a good night's sleep!

    pawprintgirl24---that is wonderful news!!!!  I am counting down now - I have my first tx on Wednesday!  My local daughter stopped by my house earlier - she had her hair cut short like I did - in my honor!!!!  I am lucky!

    Kiwimum, glad to hear you are ok from the hospital and doing good.  It's so nice that you daughters are participating selecting your new do! 

     Artiecat, your Daughter is lovely for being so supportive. 

    I feel so teary tonight reading all the nice emails.  I keep thinking I am pmsing yet nothing arrives. I'm never off schedule, and now with the looming meds that cause menopause, I just stopped.  bizarre how the body works.  Last week I had another CAT and Bone scans, all day at the Dr and today I get a call, they forgot to draw blood.  Its so funny, but my heart doesn't skip a beat anymore when I see that "phone number"...

    I am so happy you are all doing well!  Smile

    woke up red the is morning from the steriod i do believe going to get my shot at 9.took anti nausa meds last night because i wasn't sure if it was chemo or the steriod i think it was the steroid becuase i felt the same way this morning when i took it it went away pretty quickley once i got up and drink plenty of water.

    and on a funny note...lets just see if i actually start tomorrow!! my luck i will be dealing with the side effets from the shot and the cramps!! ugh...maybe not :) lol

    glad to here everyone seems to be doing well...alot have tomorrow start date and i will be thinking of you all!! hugs to all

    Soon2--I'm sure it's just stress, but you're SURE you're not preggers, right?  At 39, last summer, I totally had a "surprise" pregnancy...I miscarried, and it probably saved my life b/c I would have been due last month and never would have found my bc....well, at least not likely for another year.  I got a Mirena IUD and my doc convinced me to keep in it during chemo.  I'm ER positive and PR negative (Mirena is PR only), and the IUD has very little hormone in it.  I just can't deal with an unwanted pregnancy in the middle of this whole thing too!  I hope I'm not adding another stress, but I was just SHOCKED last summer that I was pregnant.  Like, "How did THAT happen?" shocked.  :)  

    Yesterday was my long work day.  I did fine.  My legs have some pain...like achey, but other than that and exhaustion, I'm doing pretty well.  I just curled up with my 4 year old and we went to sleep together last night!

    I have been "trying" to get pregnant for years with no luck.  If it happened now,  I think it would be the "new Savior"!  Wink I hope that sounded like I was being funny.  My sex life has been like a rollercoaster these days.  Not to say that my Husband is not ready willing and able. Its me not feeling very sexy.  This weekend was a bit better.  I think your right, perhaps stress. 

    ProfBee, I'm glad your work day went ok.

    soon2 be you crack me up..my husband is scared of me since alll of this started and sometimes that is a problem for me feeling lonely we had a talk but i think he still thanks he gonna hurt me. we will see since the chemo if i'm too fragile!! lol he better come around soon cause a girl has needs!!!lol i can't  believe i just posted that!

    Got my port put in today and it was easy and no pain at all.  Just vaguely aware of people moving around me.  I am a little sore 6 hours after surgery, expecting to be sorer but if this is as sore as I get I'm not complaining!  I'm a little bruised too.  Was sleepy and tried to sleep when I got home, but it was too noisy in the house as usual..  sigh...

    Pawprint24 I am going to call my local branch of the American Cancer society and see if I can get in next week for a wig fitting.  I understand they will give you a free wig and other nice things for a chemo patient.  I can't afford to buy a wig and hope they have one I like!

    I'm a bit sore today after the port surgery. The area is sore and there is an odd pulling feeling in my neck. I wonder if I'm sore because they put the port in the mast side, now I have a port and incision quite close to where my mast scar from 4 weeks ago is healing.

    Glad your port surgery went well Geocachelina. 

    About to leave to see radiation onc and then off to work. I'm supposed to be going to a drinks function tonight for someone in the industry who is leaving. I might see how I'm feeling later.

    Hello April ladies. I am really with the Jan, thread. But I also have been following the Feb and March. Thought I would jump on in and tell you how chemo has been for me. I just finished ne free gaila scarf it is really pretty and free. NEVER be afraid to speak your mind with your doc, no matter hwat you feel you need, noone should have th suffer any side effects. I opted no port they said Its our choice and so glad I did not get it. The day before scheduled I called and cancelled it myself. Told onc, I didnt want it. No problems. jUST ALWAYS ASK FOR BUTTERFLY NEEDLE MUCH SMALLER AND EASIER. mY SEX LIFW WITH D H HAS NOT BEEN GREAT EITHER. yES EXPECT TO BE DRY. kY JELLY HELPS ALOT. I have done it like 3 times since Jan bit dh very understanding. You lady that lost your husband hes a jerk and you deserve better. I did not change any face creams. I use serious skincare onc said no you dont need special things were putting poison juice in your body so why spend money for extra things like that. It seems sometimes a new perfume or purse or bathstuff will lift your spirits since you dont need shampoo. ha. I wish you lades the best any unanswered questions please feel free t private message me. also biotene toothpaste hhelps with dry mouth or listerine if you get mouth sores. Yes ladies its scary but very doable. I promise.the adrimyacan 3/18. Next Monday 4 rounds once week of taxol and herceptin than June masectomy than 9 more months of herceptin. It hasn't been easy but doable. I already do not work due to a disability but praise you that can. Make sure if you can ask onc, for amend for nausea also zophran and comaz. I needed it all. Take a stool softner if you feel the need. You may want to get something like ativan as my nerves kill me and you will sleep better. Maybe need a couple tylenol pm as well. After ny 5th or so day here would come the achiness also the anusea would not hit bad until after day 3. No puking just sick. I eat like 2salads a day plus regular food. DH means dear husband. SE means side feffects. Istarted losing hair week 2 so I shaved it and helped they recommend it so your head does not get sore. I have a wig but hate wearing it. Usually wear a toboggan or scarf.     Sorry ladies seems my last post I confused it. I finished adrimyacin 3/18. start taxol plus herceptin 4/18 masectomy june herceptin 9 months after. gaila.com gives every lady a beautiful scarf free. they mail it to you and so pretty. best of luck.

    Hi every one. Glad to hear that those who are on the chemo-ride are doing so well. Two more days until I get started. My anxiety has gotten the best of my memory, I hate to see what happens when I get chemo-brain! Best wishes to all of you!

    Shoema, I undertsand Anxiety.  It's my alter ego.   If there was a Nobel Prize on managing anxiety, I would win hands down.  I have come down with almost every chemo symptom, and I haven't even started yet!  Its crazy, I suppose I am a control freak of nature!  But I am trying to find humor and laugh through this "life experience" as much as possible.  I had a consult with a crazy cosmetic surgeon (for my reconstruction) tell me that laughter is the key to a healthy mind, body and soul. Then he recommended a book... Of course, I didn't use him,  too preachy, but he did make sense in his annoying way.  And laughing has curbed my anxieties, and I will keep laughing everyday and every chance I get!

    Me too, Articat,  I am starting at 830 in the morning with my 1st round of T/C .  This whole BC thing is the hurry up and wait game.  I have been waiting, and now the Chemo chapter is finally here.  I hope things go well for you tomorrow.

    My Dr tells me for mouth sores the best thing is buttermilk. Sounds weird I know but he says when you start to get the blisters or mouth sore swish with buttermilk and swallow it down. The enzymes are replaced in your mouth by the buttermilk. He swears by it and he said the next day you will see a difference! My port goes in tomorrow morning and then I get my first treat of the red devil (A/C). I of course am so tired now and achey due to pms...I wonder if the chemo will put a kabash on that even though I am a week away from my cycle. Would be nice!!

    Axtella, that sounds interesting about the buttermilk, I've just woken up day 6 after my first chemo with mouth sores mainly on the outside of the mouth in the corners like cold sores, I have been using the mouth wash the hospital gave me but does not seem too be working, any other recommendations for mouth sores?

    Axtella, there's a mouthwash called Biotine I've heard of--or water with baking soda.  Whoa!  How'd it get so late?  Gotta run!

    my thoughts are with all of you today! i'm leaving now to go get my BRAC testing results!!! kinda scary but not gonna worry about that now... i have a weird reaction that i have to call dr about but it looks like a sun burn but it only bothers me when i get hot so we will see??? anyone heard of this??

    Good luck everyone!

    I awoke today able to breathe for the first time in days. The awful cold I caught appears to be subsiding. I'm not sure whether to thank the Neulasta shot, the turmeric, or the immune-boosting mushroom extract my husband ordered for me. Whatever did the trick, I may be coming out of the woods.

    Goodmorning,  by the time you see this you may already be on your way to TAC#1.  I have now completed my fifth round of six.  I started in Jan.  They say this is a tough regime, it has not been fun, but it is doable.  May ladies get AC then T, looks like outcomes are the same.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Good Luck to you today.

    dr said my reaction was from the steriod so hopefully it will go away in a few days.. its already getting hot down here in the south so i guess i will be freezing the husband out of the bedroom all summer!! lol i signed up for a look good feel better class that is offered here for chemo patients, i just hope i can go tomorrow.

     BRAC test is neg!!! thank god!!
