Jules, hopefully sun is on it's way. We had Rain, Hail and a sprinkle earlier and it looked like it was headed your way. We've had sun and a bit of wind ever since....the wind was pushing the clouds your way when the sun came out here.

HI girls, the nurse from my oncologists office called and spoke with me. She went through my episode of anxiety that sent me to the er. Asked what all my tests that were done were and what the results were. Told her they gave me ativan she said good. Discussed the not taking the tamoxifen ~ she sounded a bit taken back...but they know I am stubborn. I said I need to feel better and enjoy my vacation, then I have surgery so I will re-visit it when I see my ONC on 5/10. I told her I cannot help but think what I have been feeling is tamoxifen related. I told her I just wasn't feeling good and blame some of it on the upcoming 6 month tests. She said that is normal. She wants a copy of my echo and caratoid artery results when they come back. Told me to have a good vacation and I will see them in May. She will discuss our conversation with my onco and if she has any concerns she will call me if not May it is.
So I guess I am off the hook and tamoxifen for now. I haven't takne it since Sunday.
Sun is shining here now but I hear it is to be short lived !
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Jules I think most people are on a yearly schedule. I have to have a yearly mammo and yearly MRI alternating every six months, but I know this is not normal for most people. I finished rads three months ago and go for my first mammo next Monday. Not looking forward to it because my boob has been so sore and achey, but I know I have to do it.
-
Jules - I am way down by Brownsville close to the Mexican border. I am scheduled for my first mammo since dx on June 3rd. It will be 11 months since my screening mammo last year which I had in July and diagnostic/US in Aug. My MO told me a yearly schedule would be fine.
Alicia - Good for you for standing up for yourself and holding your ground on not taking the Tamox. We have to be our own advocates - no one else is going to do it for us.
Sherry - Hang in there - you have been through so much and you will get through the mammo. I won't be here Monday but hopefully will be here when you get the B9 results.
-
Jo it is funny because I am not at all worried about this because my tumor never showed on any of my mammo's over the last 14 years so I figure why should it show anything now. I guess my calcification's could change(which is what started the looking last time) which would not be a good thing. I think I will feel differently about the MRI, but by then I may already do my MX so I won't have to do it unless they require me to do it before hand. Just with being sore I am not looking forward to getting squeezed. So I will say the mammo is going to be fine, we will see how my poor boob holds up to it.
-
Sherry - I am not really looking forward to the annual squeeze. My lump scar is on the bottom side of my boob and it is probably going to cause some discomfort. Since I will have a diagnostic, that is more squeezes than the screening. I will have them do the bc boob last and then I know I will be done. Not going to worry about it until the time comes. Having this done once a year is kind of a relief - don't know if I would want to have this to look forward to 2X a year. Never had a MRI for anything and won't insist on one less I think it is absolutely necessary.
Here's to B9 results for both of us.

June...beside the cereal box? taped to the bag of wholesome bread? big sign on the bathroom mirror????so hard to remember!!!!
Swansea...I finished rads December 17h...and they are eithe rbooking me for May or June...the radiology nurse said they like to book their gals in 5 or 6 months after rads end...I want MAY...git 'er done so I can get on with things..whatever those things may be!
-
Chabba, you sent me the hail
. No likey. If we wait until warmer weather to hook up, we'll never meet. LOL
Sherry & Jo, thanks for the update. I had a mammo on the dx'd breast right before rads, but my annual base line mammo is in May. Guess I was expecting a mammo every 3-6 months. Not that I'm looking forward to my rads/lymphedema breast getting slammed between two steel plates
Jo, it must be soooooo warm with you down south? DH is interviewing with a company in Austin. The weather is so extreme between the PNW and TX.
OK, I didn't have a single hot flash in the day and only a few at night in southern CA. Since being in WA I'm getting them so bad at night and having quite a few in the day. Anyone explain how I get more in cold weather than I do in warmer weather? I'm boggled.
Jo I'm ready for the cruise.

Sherry/Jo- I am also very achey..sore boobish..not sure if it is from the radiologist doing his check last week or the heart event or just scar tissue healing...but it hurts...having a heck of a time finding an attracive bra that fits and does not have wire...have checked a whole bunch of different sites....any ideas ladies? Jo/Sherry...what are you doing to alleviate the sore boob? My left arm is also tight sinc eI have not been able to go to the gym this month...plan on rectifying that when I meet the cardio folks on Wednesday and get a plan!
-
Sandee, sorry I missed your post.
I just bought 3 new bra's (playtex) to help with the support/lymphedema situation. I can honestly say they are the most god awful things. Nothing flattering about them. However, other than me not being able to wear a low or sleeveless t shirt, they are doing the trick. I certainly kept the ladies in place whilst hurtling down a Disney ride.
I'd give anything to find a some what attractive bra that does the job. Victoria Secret days are gone.
Good luck bra shopping.

Hey Sandee, regarding a comfortable bra.. i have always hated underwire,.. and it is hard to find a decent one without. (hated wearing bra's in general) . however, after searching for many years, i finally found my answer.. the Warners style nbr 02044.. so comfy and not even ugly! I was trying to find it on the web, with that model number , this is the closest i found, looks about the same , perhaps it's the newer model. If you search for : Warner's Elements of Bliss Contour Wire-Free Bra 2003 you'll find it. Take it from someone who is very picky about a comfort, this is the best one i've come across... definately worth a try.
-
I just bought two from JC Penney, without underwires and they were not costly and they are very comfy, too. You might wish to give them a try. I bought them online and I am in Canada. the fit is perfect!
take good care and just breathe. . .

-
Chili- ok..just cheked the sie..this is the exact bra I tried on tonight at the BAY!!! Yowsers...but they don't do DD's..only D and that caused a lot of spillage...so...I will keep checkin gbut this is th eexact type I amlooking for ! thanks again
-
ahh, too bad.. I'm barely a B girl myself.
the search goes on....good luck!
-
yep but I apprecaite the ideas and info:)
-
Sandee - I don't have the achy boob now - I know I will have one after my mammo in June. My lump scar is close to my bra line - in the same place those damn squeezers go. I had a burning sensation for about 2 1/2 months and it just one day went away on its own.
I can't help you with the bra shopping. I am a 36B and never have worn underwire. I know you don't want that. I do buy mine online at Amerimark. I get 2 for less than $20.00. The ones I get have good back support and a front closure which worked great for surgery recovery and rads.
-
Amerimark? Thanks Jo...I am on it now before bed!!! My breast is very sore these days but again..can't tell if it is heart stent related or scar tssue or what....knowing which it is might help me to feel more secure in some way....ah well. start with the bra and go form there:) thanks!
-
Sandee - I think they have bras in larger sizes. You will have to search the website. I love the ones I got. Let me know if you are able to find anything there.
-
Sandee, here's to us with the DD's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Jules, Do you have breast/truncal LE? What type of Playtex bra did you buy that gives you relief? Thanks. Becky
-
Good Morning Tammibabes! The timed release Melatonin is working great. I forgot what it was like to get good sleep. I have 4 days left until I walk on that cruise ship and sail into the sunset.
-
sorry I forgot to mention that the JC Penney bra was a Bali bra. One I bought in gray in cotton and the other in nude in polyester.
take good care and just breathe. . .

Sandee hope you find a bra that feels right and is pretty. I have had the sore achey breast with burning sensations from my SNB down into my breast and behind my nipple I will have horrible stabbing pains. My RO put me on Celebrex and ice pacs for the swelling and achiness. This has helped. I am still swollen but it has taken away enough of it to help. I was still having the burning and stabbing pains so I went to the BS and she says that I have nerve damage. She put me on amitriptyline which is an old anti depressant that works well for chronic pain. I have been on it two weeks now and it is working. I am still having some breakthrough burning but for the most part it is better. My scar is on the opposide from the burning and it has so much scar tissue from my lumpectomy 14 years ago and now this one that the whole scar area is very sore to the touch. So not looking forward to this mammo at all. Think I will do like Jo and request they do my good boob first.
Jules would the job your DH is interview for require you guys to move to Austin? I live 1 hour south of Austin
-
Sherry - I figure if I have to good boob done first then when they get to the other side I know I am done. The way they contort you around for these things, I don't want to be in any additional pain if I have the BC boob done first.
-
Jo I had not thought of that and glad you mentioned it. I would rather have the painful one done last.
-
Ladies, I also had concerns about my first mammogram after surgery, which is coming up with in a couple weeks. Because I am also doing MRI, alternating with mammograms, and my mammograms never showed the BC, I expressed my concerns to my MO. I asked her why I even needed to get a mammogram and was considering not having it done because of the continued pain in my breast. She told me that one of the mammogram technologists was especially good with postsurgical patients, being very gentle and attentive, and she specifically requested that technologist for my appointment. So I am going. Just thought I would throw this in so that you might actually request a technologist who has lots of experience with postsurgical patients as opposed to screening only.
-
n3ypb-I am in the same situation as you and when I asked my BS about why I had to have mammo's she explained that I have lots of calcifications in my breast and calcifications do not show up well on MRI's and they need to be able to track what they can see. The area around my scar tissue they are not able to see very well so the MRI takes care of looking at this area.
-
OK on this issue, I had my first post-op mammo along with ultrasound in February (5 mos after surgery) and it showed calcifications that were of some concern so they went back for a spot diagnostic and were satisfied it was no biggie. In August I will have MRI and alternate every 6 mos MRI and mammo. I figure though why not just get a PET scan and see if you light up, wouldn't that be a lot easier?
-
I, too, have some considerable breast pain some of it from the rads while some is from the shingles. I called the mammo folks and re-scheduled for a month later (at my nurse's) suggestion. They were wonderful and said no one should have to feel this kind of discomfort and they would do anything to prevent it! Yay!!
Thanks ladies,
Teklya
