Here's a little friend we met during our Anniversary getaway a while ago:

it is gorgeous - I love ice coated trees, especially in the sunlight when I can sometimes see rainbows! Please take a picture of it when it is green, and if it's a maple - WOW - colors galore in the fall. I'll bet everyone at the Cancer Center would sppreciate seeing the "Tree Study" of how we all change and HEAL! Thank you for posting it.
I have a Canon SLR Digital I bought when I was diagnosed - as my committment to surviving. Well, I'm here, but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to work all those buttons. I am notoriously untechie - can easily be defeated by a digital clock. And, before anybody suggests it, yes I DID take a class to learn how to use it - never used it - was too heavy for my Arimidex numb fingers to hold! Then, of course CRS (can't remember stuff) and I forgot anything I learned...
I am so impatient about learning how to use ANYTHING technical, but all of you have inspired me to at least charge the battery on this one. I owned an Olympus OM2 SLR since 1978. Now that was a camera I could use ;-)))))

Ho DARE bc.org put an ad on top of your beautiful seagull!!!! I can absolutely feel those feet holding on to the rock....noisy creatures, but lovely to look at! thank you...
-
Sandy, who knew diamonds grew on trees? Beautiful!
-
Sandymess and SoCalLisa: I love the photos! I used to do a lot of photography, but haven't taken my cameras out in years.
One love, Jackie
-
Thank you so much, guys! I really appreciate the compliments.
-
Sandy, love your pix..we want to see more...
Jackie, time to break out the cameras!!

Here's a pic of the sunset in Waikiki, HI, that I took last May while visiting our son:
-
Uh oh! Hope I didn't kill this thread. It's my favorite!
-
Good morning everyone! I was absent for a while there....SE's have been kinda rough this last go round...but it was the last of the AC for me!!
Great news....I started making a banket for my oldest ... she'll be 19 this month and she loves the Brewers! Should have that done by the end of the weekend. I also got my photo book in the mail...I took pictures everyday to show expression of Chemotherapy. It's really good and I am giving it to my youngest...she loves my written and expressive gestures.
I am so happy we are discussing photography....LisaSoCal: Thank you for the information that you provided on your shots. I will be taking pictures today and trying them out! I also use Picasa!! LOOOOOVE that!! I'll try to post a few pics that I have used with Picasa ....
Thank you for letting me share these...I really do love photography and would love your thoughts on them!!!
HUGS!!
-
Your photographs are evocative, FuzzyLemon. Each one implies a whole dramatic scene, while leaving it to the viewer to fill in the "story." Beautiful.
-
Love your Waikiki sky, too, sandymess. Isn't it amazing, sometimes, how colors are so beautiful it's hard to believe they're real? I also love the black silhouette against the sky. Thanks!
-
WOW! Thank you Mary! I've never been told anything like that before!! Everyone on this thread has amazing talent...thanks again for starting it Caerus-Sunflowers! It has helped so much!

what a scene - it really helps to see something as gorgeous as that. I've never been to Hawaii, but now that I've seen a sunset, and learned that Plumeria ( frangiapani) grows wild - oh, so, so tempting. Thank goodness we're getting Spring in western MA - only a few spots of snow still on the ground - many are noticing buds of crocus, and some friends even have daffodils. Mine are just wee little green sprouts - but they're GREEN and growing - just like us!
Fuzzylemon - I hope you're thinking of publishing your photographs, words, in some format. Inspiring.

What a lovely thread! In the past,my creative efforts were gourmet cooking and baking and photography. After my illness,I had this overwhelming urge to do something more.My "art" is a little different,I started making my own soaps, which spilled over to my own beauty products. The strange thing was,my hair was giving me fits, still dry and lifeless and refusing to grow. One night I decided I would use a foaming bath butter I had made instead of shampoo..after only one wash,my hair felt soft again. It is growing and looking like my old hair!Right now I am working to create the right blend to make an eye serum and eye wrinkle cream(I am 57 and always looked young, until after chemo)I give my creations as gifts and make little cards to go with it.I cannot draw, but I use adorable rubber stamps and then color them as my fancy strikes me.I have been amazed at how well they turn out.Maybe our treatments have stirred our creative genes??If anyone wants to know how to make the foaming bath butter for their hair(or skin) let me know.My plan is to make up little baskets of my products and leave them at the chemo center for the patients and those angel nurses!
-
Panda - I would loooove to know how to make the Bath Butter! Sounds wonderful!
-
PandaZ, for some reason your post made me cry. I think it's because my nurses were also angels. I was thinking this week -- though I'm glad to not need them -- how much I miss them. Now you've got me thinking what I could take to the hospital. Love your creative efforts with soap. Thanks for sharing.
-
Panda: I would also LOVE to know how to make the bath butter. Your soaps, serums, and creams sound wonderful and so creative!
Fuzzy: Your photos are absolutely fabulous. You're really talented! And I have to also say that those last pics of you--stunning. You are beautiful!
Thank you so much for the encouraging comments, guys. Our son lives in Hawaii, which is great for him, but I miss him so very much. We've been to visit a couple of times and it's amazing how unique and beautiful it is. I couldn't believe the colors in that sunset. I have another from the Big Island that is in shades of gold. I'll have to post that, too.
-
Fuzzy: How did you get your pics that size? I'd love to post smaller photos.
-
Hello Sandy! I can't imagine how much you must miss your boy...thank goodness for internet and all of the ways we can connect...and I can't wait to see more pics of Hawaii!!! I've never been but the photos are amazing!
When you have photos in the Picasa Web Albums (super simple and free), all I do is right click and copy/paste to this thread. They copy the same size that they are in the album! I was super happy to see that...I hope that helps! And thank you so much for your kind words...those are two of my daughters favorite photos in the book I had made (I made the book from Shutterfly.com and was able to transfer the picasa edits right to it...it really is a fabulous tool for anyone who loves photos...and it's sponsored by Google!)

You've convinced me I can do it
So, I downloaded Picasa, and will now charge the battery for my Canon SLR Digital monster (it's so big compared to my old fashioned Olympus OM2!!) - and see if I can manage to get a few pictures.
PandaZ, I too would love to learn how to make anything that might make my hair soft
It is still so dry, luckily thick & curly - but dry. And the regular conditioners make it lank...which is hard to believe. You reminded me of those oncology nurses - they truly were Angels. I used to carry these pewter pocket angels, and give them to all the nurses. Some of them rembere me when I go for check ups, and they see me, and take the angel out of their pocket! Hard to imagine having the loving patience they have - and with all pain, and sadly death, they have to deal with. I can imagine they are SO cheered by your gifts. Such a generous and thoughtful idea.

I can across this thread today and wanted to chime in to let everyone know that there is a thread for quilters and crafters called "Stitching The Pieces Together." There are some beautiful pictures posted of knitting projects, quilts and some crocheting. The person who started that thread inspired me to get back to my quilting which I dearly love to do. I had not touched a piece of fabric for almost six months and did not realize I much I missed it or how much it relaxed me.

YEA CAERUS SUNFLOWERS...if you have any questions or troubles with it, just let us know!!
You're going to have soooooo much fun with it!

Here is the recipe for the Foaming Bath Butter.I hesitate to recommend a place to buy the ingredients,I buy mine in bulk for the best price and shipping costs. If you do a search for Foaming Bath Butter or Foaming Bath Whip, the places that carry it will come up. I use One Pound of the Foaming Bath Butter.Cut it into chunks and beat it with a regular mixer. It will start to get frothy.Very Slowly add Two Ounces of Oil(Avocado,Coconut,Emu,Jojoba,Carrotseed..any of the oils you see listed on the sites will work,I use a combination of different ones)Keep beating until it is about double,it will look and feel like whipped cream. You can then add color and scent,or leave it plain. You only need to use a small amount. You can add exfoliants if you want for use on your face and skin. When you wash your hair,it will not feel squeaky clean like it does after regular shampoo, which is good.I do use a conditioner after.I hope it works for you,it did for me.About the onc nurses,I was so lucky,my chemo was done at a satelite office and I had the same nurse every week.I was so sick during chemo,I was in the hospital for ten days, she came to see me while I was there.I could never have made it through without her.
-
Thanks for the tips, Fuzzy. Let's see if it works for me.Here's another Hawaii shot, on the Big Island this time:
-
OH WOW!!!! That is a great shot!!
-
Except it's still rather large for posting. I use Firefox and it won't let me copy and paste. Grrr...!
-
But it fits perfectly on the computer screen
-
Here's that other Hawaiian sunset pic I took. This one is on the Big Island:
