radiation question

Hi Ladies, my mom was diagnosed in February with stage I (less than 1 cm big tumor), grade 3, no nodules involved out of 3 they took infiltrative left breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy with clean margins. From what I gathered it was not the genetic type (?) and progesteron/estrogen negative. She is 64.  I'm in Nebraska and she is in Argentina. She had her surgery on 2/22 and I went down for that.

She had her first appointment with the radiologist oncologist today and she was told she has to get a full body CAT scan before they start the 25 radiotherapy treatment. Is that standard? Or is her doctor thinking there may be something else?. She has been a heavy smoker for 50 years and was diagnosed with COPD 5 years ago.

I am traveling to Argentina again next week to be there with her.
