    HAPPY MONDAY  EVERYONE!!!!

Well I started the boosts today! 6 more left YIKES!  Hate to say this but glad to read others are having skin problems.  I guess misery loves company!  The underside of my breast has peeled completely.  Just last Monday I had a tiny bit of peeling there (less than 1/4 inch) Yuck.  While at the hotel this weekend I knelt over the air conditioner while hoding up my breast.  Oh how silly I looked, but how good it felt!

Also I could have sworn they said that they would not radiate the scar where I had the SNB.  So I never put lotion there.  It is a horrible deep red and hurts like a *beep*.  Now part of my boosts extend to that area.  Hope I can hold out.

Hope everyone has a great week.  Here is to the finish line.  Love to you all!!!

24/33 OUCH that's all i have to say. It hurts so bad under my arm. Oh btw i don't have any hair under my arm that gets the rads and very little under the other one. Saw the RO and he gave me a rx for silver sulfadiazine cream and some pain meds, hopefully i can sleep tonight. Today was the first day i went without my wig, i felt kindof  funny but kindof  free too. I think i will still wear it to work, but not for anything else.

Marjie- i hope your skin doesn't open up, just keep putting stuff on it. Good Luck your almost done!

I just finished #14 today..I guess thats almost halfway done.  I'm sorry so many of you are having a terrible time with your skin.  I'm starting to be pink, bumpy and very itchy. The spot on my back were the beam goes thru is the worst!  I guess I wasn't getting the aloe back there in the right area.

Is anyone not having boosts?  I don't know yet about getting boosts because my BS never marked my tumor bed area and the Rad Onc can't see it from the CT they did for planning. She's talking about doing an ultrasound to try to find it and then have clips put in to mark the correct area.  I'm not sure I want to go thru that...it sounds about the same procedure as my first biopsy. Anyone else have this happen?

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone!  My fingers are crossed too. I was thinking this morning that I can start a real countdown - today was 10.....tomorrow 9......wednesday 8......Laughing

Marjie,  Lets do it! The countdown today was #10 for me too and tomorrow will be #9 and so on. I just hope i can make it. My underarm is hurting so bad right now and it's not going to get any better until they stop. Don't know if i should even try to work tomorrow. I'm a bartender so my arm is in constant motion. Oh well i will figure it out tomorrow. Have a good night everyone.

    Hey Ladies,

Pumela - Yea on the wiggless.  I ditched my wig a week ago and I have to say I really do like my ultra short do better.

My Ro gave me an Rx for hydrocort. cream and also asked me to make a saline soak ( homemade saline soaked in a towel) applied 4x each day for 15 min. at a time.  Now that is going to be interesting.  Kids hold down the fort while I go lay topless on my bed.  Hello!

Definately noticing a little more soreness but all in all things are still very managable.   I was giving Herceptin credit for my achy joints.

20/33 still too far out to start the countdown but I am getting there.  Hope everyone has a good week.

I finished chemo last week and am starting radiation in about 3 weeks.  I'm scared!  I had a left mx plus te so I know this may ruin my reconstruction too.  I don't know how to prepare for it.  Thanks to everyone for their info on this thread!

pumela and marjie - I wish I were still in your count, but once again I'm off for three days. The good news working at home for two days and I'm using my new phone's hot spot for my internet connection and it's so much faster than my broadband card. I'll take the good where I can find it these days.

Texas I still have some numbness after the lumpectomy in Jan.

Off to the radium spa today for number 20. As a reward (thrill) it is doctor day. Yesterday there was a student in the machine room. He was extremely fine and very nice and polite.

My RO nurse told me the key is to keep the skin moisturized. Fingers crossed, so far the radiaplex gel is working.

I want to ask Dr Cute today if they will reCT before the boosts. The technician seems to think they will. She did tell me no more tattoos, just drawing. Libraylil

Yay for countdowns!   12 more plus 3 boosts for me!  Only problem for me is that my RO said I'll need to go thru another simulation before my boosts because my hematoma from my lumpectomy might have shrunk in size and that would make a difference in the amount of rads in those boosts.  Darn...

Saw my RO yesterday and, after 2 weeks of telling me my rash was an allergic reaction, she finally agreed that my its due to the radiation.  She told me it will get worse and there's nothing I can do for it. When I told her I was worried it might become infected she said it wouldn't.   She said I shold just continue with hydrocortisone cream and that I could use aloe from the plant too.   We'll see how this progresses.

Last night I took a Benadryl tablet, as she'd suggested, to help me fall asleep.  Not only did it not help me fall asleep but around midnight I woke up with tingly fingers ... when it must have kicked in!  Probably took me another hour before I finally dozed off again.   Won't do a repeat on that one.

A dear friend gave me her potted aloe plant, so last night I smeared some of its juice over my hydrocortisoned breast.  My rash is looking less angry this morning so I'm going to continue with that (but I'll put the aloe on first so it can be absorbed better into my skin) and see if that's the magic potion I needed.

    Have a good one, everyone!

Libraylil: Had CT scan for my boosts last week. Boosts start tomorrow- today is last day of regular tx. yippee   BTW the CT scan/boosts went very quickly. RO came in and drew the field and then the tech did her CT thing. No tattoos. Oh, and the tech traced the field on sheet of something clear. Really wasn't paying much attention at that point.

Good luck. Keep on doing the Radioplex- the more the better, esp. at this point. You are almost there!!

illinoisNancy-I have delayed SE's. In fact I am right now. I had my last chemo on March 8. I had a lot of stomach distention and it feels like my food doesn't move through my stomach. It was better and every now and then it happens again. I started taking probiotics yesterday to see if that helps. I also get achy from time to time to.  I guess it takes a while for things to settle down after chemo. I guess its the gift that keeps on giving....

marjie:  My skin is going to give out too :(...After rads this morning it looked totally different.  I guess I reached my maximum tolerance!  I put the benadryll cream on what ever is itchy, and I just gave in and purchase Aquaphor, so I put that on over the other cream.

gingerstx:  The rash is caused by the rads...it's the hair follicls giving one last angry scream before they die...The rash does behave like an allergy too.  I take benadryll at 8, am usually asleep by 930, and then I snore the rest of the night until 430am. But the alarm goes off at 5am.

texasrose361:  I was just thinking about you this morning!  I'm glad you are doing well!

lee7:  My tumor bed is clear so it's already been marked...not drawing on me anymore, they lined me up last Friday, and I start on Thursday.  Part of it will nuke the top of my nipple which it terribly sore...not looking forward to more rads on it!

    27/33...Boosts start on Thursday!

    Countdown = 9!!

Ok, my boosts start tomorrow.  Gotta say, I'm feeling like a big piece of poop today and that kind of sucks since I have Herceptin tomorrow.  Oh well, I just think of that fish in the movie Finding Nemo who sings "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming....".  I don't know how I got it in my head, but now it's my new rads song.

Skin is still itchy and the rash is feeling really rough and dry.  I have some little scabs and the techs told me not to put any cortisone cream on broken skin.  I think this afternoon I will relax in an Epson salt bath and seen what that does.  If anything it will help these achy bones!!

So much for me whining especially when I see that some of you ladies are working through your treatments.  My hat (scarf) goes off to you Wink

8/21 down and I am going for similation for boosts tomorrow. Skin holding up well, although I wasn't getting enough moisterizer far enough towards the back, so it's a little pink. Going double on all the lubes in that area now.

I started getting a weird pain Sunday night. At first I thought it might be the nipple getting sensitive and rubbing against the bra. At weekly check yesterday, RO told me to take tylenol. Since then it has happened every couple of hours and actually in the boob and not the skin. It's a brief sharp jabbing pain that sometimes happens when I reach for something with my arm on the same side and sometimes while I'm just sitting and doing nothing. Any suggestions? I'm debating whether it's a big enough deal to call the RO or wait for next Monday's check.

Otherwise all is well. I was lucky enough to snag a morning rads time so I make it to work without usuing up too much sick time.

Teal3Pink1 - I was told that those sharp pains are normal.  Mine lasted on and off for about a week and has stopped.  I would still check with your RO though.

Double yeah for countdowns! I have three more boosts and I am done!! woo-hoo. Saw the RO today and he said I was healing "great,"---not how I feel. Cuz it hurts, and its red and angry and it itches and wah-wah-wah!! He said I was lucky it was "dry" healing and not "wet" healing--not raw and oozing. Seems raw to me!! My skin has turned this deep scarlety red and has pealed under my arm to leave behind this 1 1/2 inch round super pink baby skin. Looked at it a few minutes ago, and saw two new blisters on that fresh baby skin. So now I am walking around with my arm extended so I don't rub my arm there. Fun stuff!!

Also asked him about arthritis and achy joints that have just started in the last few weeks--he said that was a delayed reaction to chemo--but not rads. He then said with his cute little smile(he is a cutie) that it just could  be cause I am getting older. OOWWWCCHH!!! I let him get away with that one cause he is sooo cute!!

    Down to 5!

    Love the countdowns!

texasrose- got the exact same sore spot.  Aleve gel caps really help with the soreness.  I asked thePA today.  He said just get through these last 5.  Mine started hurting with about  9 left. He also said that it would heal in about two weeks since I am already on my boosts.

Cat123-  can't tell yoou anything about reconstruction or chemo, but hopefully won't bother it.  Have heard it is hard to reconstruct a radiated breast. (((HUGS))))

Add me to the countdown party! Today was last regular tx and tomorrow is the start of 8 boosts. Saw the PA and she explained the process- sounds soooo much easier than what I've been through (both sides and having to do gated respiratory breathing). I get to just lay there, breath normally and they do 2 "shoots". No weekly films and not long in the dreaded "position". yippee

My skin has really flared up over the last say 5 days. PA thinks it all looks great, so can not imagine some of you other gals with blisters. Ouch- you are the real troupers! I have really ugly looking dark red places under my arms, kind of on the outside. She said to expect that to peel. I am just going to continue to really lube up. PA said I can go with extra creme on my chest to tx since that area will not be in the field for boosts. I always lube up after tx and forgot my bag today. I was like a crazy woman trying to hurry home to lube up.   nutty life these days...

Love, love all these countdowns! Go girls!!

Congrats to all of you with your countdowns! Whoo-hoo!!

13/33 for me today. The RO checked my skin and said it looks a little pink in a couple of places. I saw it when he looked, but it is not there now. I'm hoping it was from one of my many hot flashes and not from the Rads. Either that, or I am living in the land of D'nile. hehehe

Ok, my RO is not eye candy, she is a she, and not eye candy at that.  I think I am cuter than she is.  HAA!  How is that for a reversion to high school.  JK all, she is very nice.

I feel for you ladies with bossums.  I think this is the one and only time I have thus far said I am glad to be flat.  I had a recon, that became a decon, but that is another story.

I hope and pray for good days for all here.

I was somewhat pinker today.  I think I swear by Miaderm and I have been using a diaper rash cream from the health food store.  I hestiate to using it during the week though because the white film it leaves stays put.  Not sure that is good.

    hang in there ladies.

Well i feel like such a baby today. Woke up with a really bad headache and my underarm hurt so much, i just couldn't imagine holding it up for rads and then having it cook tonight. So i fall behind one. You ladies that have blisters and you keep going are so tuff, i feel like such a whiner :( So i just stayed home and laid on the couch and had a pity party. I think i'm done now and i can continue tomorrow, but only because i come to these boards and read all your posts, so i want to say Thanks to everyone, you inspire me!!!!

Finished rads today, yeay! I gave the techs activity books and markers since they love to draw (on me) so much, and brought the staff Krispy Kreme doughnuts from this crispy critter.

Boosts have given the rest of the breast time to heal, peel, and be a bit less red. There's a marked difference between it and the boost area, so I'm hopeful that it's done it's worst and now will just keep getting better. I'm still pretty itchy and have been using oral benadryl pretty successfully.... gotta go take some more now.

Hang in there, and healthy wishes for all of you :-)
