Employers with zero compassion=anxiety

I am my mother's primary caregiver with her stage IV dx. We have been incredibly blessed so far. Barring a major complication during spine surgery when she had to be trached, she has done incredibly well with her only side effect being loss of taste buds. Her onc told her that she is her healthiest patient, and she is doing everyday activities. Way to go Mom!

However, her employer is utterly ridiculous. She taught for 36 years (K-5 special arts) and has been in the same two schools for 25 years. I was her sub for two years, and often subbed for other teachers in the building as well. I also am a product of the school district.

Our community is in an uproar due to the sloppy way they handled my mother. I was introduced as her long term sub to the staff, but when her dx got worse, I was removed from her position through a note thrown on her classroom floor from her principal telling me to go to the board office for an interview Monday and not to return until further notice.

I was replaced by a kid out of school, with a bad attitude towards the kids. When I found out I would not come back, my mom contacted her union rep and he went with me to take some personal stuff out of the room so he could log everything. I was terminated by her superintendent the following day, and then notified I would come back to three schools-the schools my mother has no students in. Apparently, I was terminated due to "stealing". I've never had a complaint against me. Also, her principal and superintendent tried to visit her in ICU when she was trached, and I did not okay it. They are "still angry" about that. Sorry, I don't think ICU is the place to talk business.

So the parents are outraged, going to the board meetings, and my brother and I cannot go around town without a parent talking to us. I went to three stores tonight, and had 17 people come up to me. This is mainly because the sub they hired is terrible, yelling and screaming at the kids. My mom had to take blood pressure meds for a short time, and I had to start seeing a counselor because of all the anxiety. It's awful.

Thanks for letting me vent :)
