Just Diagnosed IDC...What Now?

Hi Everyone,

I'm Karen and new to this site. I was told last Monday by my primary care physician that I have IDC. Don't know anything more, not even what stage.  My appointment at the cancer center is Wed. I've had DCIS back in 2003 so this is not a complete shock. Still, I don't know how to feel about all this. I seem to vacillate between fatalism and optimism.

Hi Karen, I had IDC,  What did you do for your DCIS, what was your course of treatment? I think in order to tell you what to expect would need to know More about the stage, grade, lymph node involvement. Until then stay positive BC is beatable...sending hugs your ways...stay positive

    Hi Karen-

The beginning of this is the hardest part. Not knowing exactly what you are up against leaves you thinking the worst. Once you know your stage and hormone status you can come up with a game plan. It gets a lot easier then.

Good luck. I wish you strength in your fight.

Take someone with you to the appointment. That extra set of ears is very helpful.

Until then write down what questions you have. The other ladies are right, once you know more about the characteristics of your BC, things will make more sense. You and your doc will get a game plan. You know these boards have a lot of info, some applies, some doesn't. The members are so supportive. Post your questions, read other forums, but remember everyone is unique. You'll have some answers soon.

    Take care of you.

Until you know the specs, don't throw yourself off a bridge. The world needs you, because you are a great person who deserves to live. Don't listen to everything you hear about IDC, ok? Most breast cancer patients have good prognosis'. IDC is the most common BC. We are here for you, so don't give up, at least just yet, it's always darkest before dawn.
