Now What? Anyone else experience this?

I have posted this on another forum a few weeks ago, but wondering if maybe anyone else has experienced this. For the last 2 weeks I have experienced a weird pain under my arm and side of breast. It is on the side of my original cancer. It feels like a mild bruising or maybe like I am being poked by my underwire bra except I feel it when my bra is not on too. On a scale of 1-10 pain is maybe a 1 and I only notice it if I press my arm next to my side or push myself up with my left arm. I do have mild LE in my arm and wonder if that may be something that I am experiencing going on. I also notice that the sensation is around scars from surgery in areas taht were previously numb. There are absolutely no lumps or bumps under my arm or on my breast, no redness, warmth, etc. Occassionally, it might itch, but my breast has itched off and on since rads were done 2 1/2 years ago and I attribute that to nerve damage. So What could this be? Is my LE spreading? Are my nerves just waking up after 2 1/2 years and now scar tissue is causing discomfort. Is that even possible? How long can you continue to experience breast changes after rads. I know they say two years but I am wondering if it can be longer than that. Can anyone relate to this. I am always fearful of a recurrence. How likely is it that I could develop IBC after IDC? Can scar tissue cause discomfort? Any ideas anyone?!

My mom had the same exact thing happen. Of course I panicked and called her radiologist for more info. He said that most of us have "spots" or abnormalities that show up on scans, the majority of the population have "normal abnormals" that we would never know about until there is reason to be scanned. My uncle had the same thing. He was having flank pain so the did a CT scan and found spots. They were completely benign and he was told that he probably always had them but we were just now seeing them. I have heard that radiologist have a very high number of law suits brought against them so they are extra cautious with reporting so they cover all their bases. I hope this brings you some peace- sleep tight!-Jenny

    Hi Kd,

I'd get it checked out.  There are so many changes that happen, take to the expert hands of your doc for a CBE.  I wouldn't think scar tissue after this time, possibly slow nerves.  Possibly a clip has been pushed to the surface of the skin if it feels like a wire.  Please get it checked out, just for peace of mind, and let them take a good look to find out what it is, and at the very least you can avoid an infection or something.  Let's not fear the worst yet, and please keep me updated.
