Prayer sought for 19 yr old...

I really thank God for this forum and the women here.  It helped me through my dx and treatment, and continues to help me.  I try to give back what I've gained and pray for each person on here, though I don't know every name, God does.

I have a request for prayer... for those prayer warriors across the world in every language.  I know a young lady who is friends with my daughter.  Her name is Victoria Woodall.  She is 19, has diabetes type 1, and has been in the hospital 3 times in the last month.  Her symptoms.. pain, distended stomach, nausea, vomiting, unable to keep food down, severe constipation.  She no doubt has anxiety too.  She has issues with family too, and some of the problems are severe, so prayer needed there too.  Right now, so far, they've determined she has gastroparesis at the least, and it appears to be a more severe case at the moment.  Her stomach is quite bloated, and constipation is severe.  They're trying to figure out what dosage of insulin she should have, and she hasn't kept much food down.  When they monitored eating a sandwich, after 2 1/2 hours, it still had not made it to the stomach.  Her doc has told her it is taking her stomach 8 hrs to digest food.  Today, they said they want to do another GI series with barium... because they believe there may be a lump in her colon.  Cancer was mentioned.  It makes me very angry that they said the word Cancer when they have no idea what it is and, of course, this is extremely frightening to her.  She's had tons of pain meds... strong ones... which doesn't help with stomach issues or constipation.  They're also talking about a stomach pacemaker to help with digestion if she doesn't improve.  Please pray for this young lady.  She's trying to change her life and live for God.  Will update when I know something.  Thank you.... So much...

Colace, lactulose, and ducolax supp last night.... still nothing.  They are trying to get the GI series this am with barium, but nothing has moved so not sure if they'll be able to get what they need.  If she doesn't move things soon, surgery has been mentioned.  It's been 14 days.  In October, she had a normal gastric emptying so she didn't have the gastroparesis then, but they tell us it can happen very quickly with type 1 diabetics.  Praise God... in good weather and in bad... always Praise.

    Update...

This young lady is still in the hospital.  Her Diabetes has caused gastroparesis as a result of neuropathy.  Tomorrow they will try injecting Botox in the stomach to help this (yes, Botox).  It will be done via endoscopy.  She is now on a liquid diet and they want her to stay on almost a complete liquid diet until... well... we don't know.  A very long time.  Whatever actual food she gets will have to be very well chewed or mechanical soft/pureed.  At 19, this is really devastating to her.  This condition can become fatal and I'm not certain she is out of the woods even now.  There has been nothing else found so far, but then, she's been backed up too.

Update:  She would have had Botox today... but she became upset and scared yesterday and signed herself out.  This is a pretty scary situation.  She needs more care.  Hopefully things will settle and she will get back in to the doctor Monday.  Praying for God to watch over her condition until she gets the medical help she needs.

    Thanks for the prayers.

mmm5:  This came on so quickly for her.  It is baffling to try to figure out exactly what happened.  I know neuropathy can get somewhat better, and God is in control of it.  I just pray she gets the medical attention she needs quickly because I am not as educated about these severe conditions arising from Diabetes.

Thanks guys.  My daughter (age 20) is completely exhausted.  She's been trying to take care of Victoria and has had almost no sleep this week.  They are both here at the moment.  I pureed a small amount of food for Victoria but it doesn't digest quick at all and honeslty she's supposed to be on almost all liquids.  But my fear is she won't get adequate nutrition so there's a fine line.  She may need some Boost Glucose Control liquid nutrition.  She wants to go to church tomorrow!

Update:  Sorry I didn't update sooner, but my son decided to swallow a penny so just got back from hospital last night.  Victoria is still on the mostly liquid diet, and she is feeling better.  I know God is answering prayers for her.  The family issues she also was facing are being resolved slowly, with legal help.  She has been living in fear for several years and now, with God's help, she is strong enough to realize that she is worth more than the treatment she has received from certain individuals.  We can see God working in this, but we are also praying for the family she loves.  Sometimes, even if you love someone, you can't allow them to do hurtful things.  I hadn't really emphasized the family issues because it is a very sensitive situation and I don't want to jeopardize her safety. Regarding her medical issues, again she is feeling better but she still has medical appointments to assess and hopefully resolve the problems.  One appointment was today.  She still must have the endoscopy which hasn't been done yet.  So we're kind of in a holding pattern... praying and taking one step at a time.  My daughter has gotten caught up on sleep, but hadn't been eating right either with all the stress so now is catching up on that.  These two friends decided to rescue a kitten yesterday, just 5 weeks old.  Animals help with recovery, whether it be physical or mental, and I believe this kitten is yet another way God is helping by allowing her to help one of the tiniest creatures He created.. giving her a sense of value.

Update:  Victoria had an upper endoscopy today, finally, after several weeks of trying to get it done.  Her diabetes prevented it from being done the first time around.  She has been continuing to feel better than she had, and I know that's a God thing.  Her preliminary test results have found a nice sized ulcer (which I thought she might have and glad that's it so far).  They are doing additional tests but so far, it appears her Diabetes got out of control and the stress from the other family issues going on has caused her to have an ulcer.  They've put her on Nexium...

Update:  Ahh... Nexium... her insurance won't cover it and she has no job because she isn't stable enough for her doc to ok her to work.  What a catch 22!  She landed in the ER again last Sunday.  Her stomach was distended and hard.  Her blood sugar was in the 500's upon arrival.  She is really not as stable as we'd like.  I did see pics from her endoscopy and am a bit concerned over a blackened area.  They took a sample for biopsy.  As far as her stomach goes, her doc is now saying they think something burst??  I haven't gone to any recent appointments with her so I'm afraid she may not be asking the right questions.  Meanwhile, my own daughter who has been trying to look after her was given an rx for birth control because she is BRCA2+ and it's been making her sick.  Just keep our family in prayer.  Satan is working overtime because his time is running out...

I haven't posted but this young lady is still not well. She's been in and out of the hospital at least a half dozen times now. She is now 20. The dr did an upper endo and took samples. Her liver tests were irratic so they also did a biopsy. He says the dr got results from endo and found cancer cells from liver. I pray this isn't true. Diabetes is linked to liver cancer. We are awaiting biopsy results....

I have a just-turned-20-year old son and can imagine the fear and uncertainty her parents are feeling.

Praying that she,and those who love her, find comfort, healing and peace.
