Spots on x-rays
I'm sure it's nothing but I picked up my x-rays yesterday to take to onc on Monday and there are white spots in my pelvic area. Tell me that is normal. They were taken the end of January because I was having so much pain in left hip that was getting progressively worse. The doc that had taken them had called to say "something" showed up with left hip but she couldn't say what and I needed to see a specialist. OK, so I got busy and it wasn't a priority. I know, I know ... bad. Already got my ass chewed by my mom and my boyfriend today. I barely sleep at night because of pain in my hip. The only way that's remotely comfortable is fetal position in recliner but even that keeps me switching sides. My lower back is in so much pain. If I kneel down I have to grab the counter to pull myself back up. I'm out of hydrocodone and NSAID's don't do anything for me. I'm terrified. My grandfather had metastatic bone cancer which eventually took him. I'm up all night long and it just keeps getting worse as the days go by. I have to be careful going down stairs because I fall. I trip walking at work. Am just so tired of this. Have been trying to get a doc to do something besides drug me up since last summer.
Does mets show on x-rays? I don't want to freak but today I've been going between crying and laughing hysterically.

Get thee to your onc as quickly as possible and get a bone scan and whatever else he/she may order! Please keep us posted, and know that I pray it will all be nothing cancer related.

Yes, at some point, bone mets are large enough to be seen on x-rays. That's how mine were found. As you stated, something showed up and I wouldn't wait any longer to have it checked out. My sincere hope is that it's nothing.

I see my onc Monday morning. I'm praying that it's just arthritis but I would think that OTC's would help with that and they don't seem to do anything. I had 2 lymph nodes (axillary on BC side) which they found on MRI last fall. Then had follow-up US. The MRI rad said they couldn't be ruled out as benign and wanted biopsy. US rad said they didn't show attributes of malignancy and had other doc change findings. I sit here now just laughing to myself thinking how ironic would it be if they were wrong. I know that it's not a laughing matter but if I don't laugh I will crack up.

I know that feeling all too well Racquel.....sometimes you have to laugh; the alternative sucks. I'm so glad you're getting in to see your onc. Keeping my fingers crossed it's arthritis. I would hope that the docs are right but better safe than sorry. Hoping to hear good news on Monday.

My best wishes, I hope it is not cancer related as well!

Will be thinking of you this weekend, until you see the onc on Monday. Try to relax as much as possible (yeah, right!). We're with you!

Racquel
Any word yet? Did you find out what the spots were? Thinking of you.
-
Racquel, I'm interested to find out what YOUR results were, I've found my self in the same position but I've got to wait 2 weeks to find out for sure...blech, I hate this disease

Racquel--This waiting is sooo bad I had a bone scan and MRI before Christmas ordered by my GP the bone scan recommended an MRI to rule out a lesion the MRI showed the same area but said a possible fracture .So my GP said not to be concerned even though I never had a fracture in that area . When I saw my onc on the 25th of March I had copies of the reports for her.She was concerned that both test showed the same area in question. So now I'm going for a CT this Friday the 8th and than back to the onc Wed the 13th. I thought I was done with all of this. I'm 3 years since my diagnosis and am at 6 month check ups .I guess the worry never really ends ..So I'm hanging in with you good luck let us know how your doing Janet

I ended up going to the ER Friday to get pain meds cuz I spent Thursday and Friday in tears. Hurt to sit but hurt to stand. When I gave info to the ER doc he said "ya know, it sounds like" and I cut him off. Told him I already knew. He had my records faxed to him and then asked why nobody has done any scans. No clue! Ian and I went to onc Monday. So thankful he was with me because I tend to blank out. Doc asked me when it's the worst and I told her at night. Ian says "yes, but she also can't walk well after work". He answered most of her questions. She said no more messing around cuz the pain shouldn't have lasted this long. She said it's probably sciatica. But she's also been known to downplay things in the past. I think she knows I worry too much. She said we'll also do another MRI on 2 lymph nodes this summer. She wanted that a year out for second look! But, she's the doc and I have to trust her. Ian used this vibrating thing (chiro's use them) on me this morning. Now I hurt. Doc wanted scan asap so I have that scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00 for the dye and 2:00 scan. Hopefully it's just arthritis. And hoping the techs don't give me the "poor girl" look tomorrow! That irritates me more than anything. Before I was diagnosed in 2009 the US techs -- there were 2 of them doing it -- gave each other the "oh shit" look. As a matter of fact the tech that did the MRI last fall said "I'm going to get these expedited for you and will have them taken to the rad this afternoon". Hmmmm, well, ok. LOL

Had my bone scan today. I did see on the screen that the pelvis was lit up like the 4th of July. Not sure what that means. I'm a little nervous but can't worry about anything right now. The rad will have results Monday or Tuesday.

Been thinking about you Racquel. I hope you got good news.....if not, chin up....you can handle it, once the shock wears off.

Well, got the results back. Meant to check in sooner but life has been busy as of late. The scan came back with degenerative joint disease. I was lit up from clavicals to ankles. Guess that would explain all the joint pain. The report did not say if it was bones or muscles. Onc and chiro have suggested that I start doing yoga, meditation and swimming. So guess that's where I go now. It's a HUGE weight lifted. I do need to have another MRI this summer to check the stability of the 2 axillary lymph nodes on BC side but I'm confident all will be fine with that.
