I am officially a red head! Its a gorgeous color, but I sure wish it was longer! They colored my ashy brown eyebrows so they have a little copper color in them. I'll post a pic after I surprise my friends on Friday night!
MBJ- how did you like being a blonde??? I think your hair color suits you in your pic.
-
Lago-our hair is much the same, except I colored mine because I couldn't do gray.LOL! I used to wear my hair almost this short in a former life, but I was much thinner then. It really looks great on you! I've got to have a little more before I go hatless in public, but I finish rads next week and am ready to swim in my pool!! One perk of short hair is that I can swim in the morning before I go to work and have time for my hair to dry!!
-
I'll be coloring mine as soon as the top fills in a bit more. I'm still wearing scarves outside of my home… just wear them a bit higher so my "side burns" stick out. That way it doesn't look like I'm bald/chemo head.
-
tnbcRuth: I can't wait to see your new color!!! I bet it looks fantastic. As for my adventure as a blonde--too much upkeep--the roots were a pain--so back to wht nature gave me. I did go burgundy once, though.
-
yup, thanks for the comment about the GKids, they're the light of my life.. i didn't notice it, but i think i might have been thinning before chemo.. not sure. don't you guys worry, though. im an old lady, with lots of supplements that slow down hair growth , too.
i can't wait to see the NEW redhead on the block! ive always had red hair, till it started turning grey.. then, out came the bottle!! DH jsut loves it red, no matter how much there is.. as it gets longer, i think some kinda "comb over " will work..
im sure you guys will get yours back. mines just patchy in places, but still plenty mostly everywhere but the front! 3jays

Marie- I love your new hair color. Looks Great!
Lago- nice pic. Your hair seems to be growing well. Mine is going so slow.
Joan888- I know what you mean. It seems to go so slow. I figure I will try and quit stressing over it, but it has been 5 months for me and I don't have much. I am hoping by July it will be long enough to have some sort of style to it. My husband keeps saying I look like JFK. (-: It seems to part and go to the side. I look like a little boy for sure. I guess we just need to try and be patient as hard as it is.
Take Care everyone!

lookin good lago!

My profile picture is me -- 6 1/2 months out of chemo. Chemo curls. Have enjoyed reading your posts. Trying to educate myself on how to possible lessen some of the various greys in my hair -- was more blonde before (had it colored) but just so grateful to have hair now. HUGS!
-
At 7 weeks out of chemo, my hair is about a half inch long--maybe a little longer and thicker in back. But I could not deal with all the white, grey and black, so I used Clairol Root Touch-Up in a light golden brown (my natural color). I had half the stuff left after I plastered my hair, but there's no more grey/white!
-
Well I posted my hair pics on Timtam's Hair forum. Only because I didn't have time to upload it somewhere else so I could paste it here. I can tell you, at 8.5 weeks pfc, it is growing faster and getting thicker pretty quick.
-
Where is Timtam's Hair forum?
-
It's the same place as the construction pictures... just in a different spot. Do you have access to the picture forum she set up?
-
yes i would like to see the hair I ahve access to the picture forum but i can;t find your pic of your hair
-
It's in the General Forum... Hair, Hair, Hair thread. It's not in the Girls Only section. Click the Home button at the top, and part way down you'll see the Entrance, and then General (Co-Ed).
-
Angelisa: I'm not sure what you mean. This thread we're on is the Hair, Hair, Hair thread and it's in the Forum Chemotherapy - Before, During and After. The forum index does not list a forum called "General." Maybe it's on a different website (not on www.breastcancer.org)? There is no simple Home button on top of the current page. I can go to My Home which is customized for me or BreastCancer.org Home, but no sign of a Hair thread there.
-
It's not on this website. It's the picture forum that Timtam created and it has the same named Thread as this one for Hair. PM MBJ or Timtam... they can help get you to the site I'm talking about. I'll try to find a spot online to store my pics, and then I can paste them here. Just hadn't had time to do that yet.
-
cc4npg found it thanks left you a note on your thread there
-
so glad to have found this thread (and alas, wishing this site were more easily searchable...)!
just finished 4x AC and starting 4x Taxol. I finish on May 16th and was hoping to have a supershort but sassy amount of hair by the time we go to a wedding July 3rd, but as I see the photos, it's not looking like it; o well. I think the hard thing is that I'd be more comfortable being completely bald than bird-fuzzy...hmm. patience patience patience.
-
emilyj67: It really just depends on how quick your hair grows back. Some people have hair start to grow while on Taxol, so it's really something none of us knows until we're there. My hair is super short... and if it had the color I wanted I would probably not wear a hat now. I'm 8.5 weeks pfc.
-
Hi Emily: The search function (accessed with the search button at the top right of the page) is fairly basic, but it is good if you want to search for something specific such as tamoxifen. It doesn't allow you to search for phrases or to limit your thread to a particular thread or forum. If there's a paricular user whose comments you find informative, you can search on username. You can also try searching with Google and include "community.breastcancer.org" as one of the search terms.
You will have six weeks from end of chemo to the wedding. Even if you don't have a lot of hair by then, I think you may be more focused on the relief of having finished chemo and being really able to enjoy yourself at the wedding. The hair will come before you realize it.
-
Angelisa: Could you paste a link to the site or even just the name of the site so we can find it via Google? Searching for "timtam hair" is not giving me any useful results.
-
MaryNY: It's a private site that you get directed to when you request permission to join from one of the gals here. Send a private message to MBJ. I know she can help direct you. You won't find it with google. Those who decide to contribute to the picture forum want to make sure the pics stay private and are only used for the women facing mx. I'll also pm her and let her know you're asking how to get to it.
-
Thanks Angelisa: I pm'd Timtam. I thought it would be possible to link to the site, even if it's for members only.
-
I'm not sure how it works and to my knowledge no one has ever provided a public link. But they will help you!
-
OK lets talk hair color. Mine came in with more gray but the dark hair is darker. I always had dark brown hair but now it's almost black, even my eyebrows. The eyebrow filler cosmetic I bought before chemo was the exact color of my eyebrows. Now it's a bit lighter.
Anyone else's hair go darker?
-
Lago: My hair has also come in with way more white/gray than I ever had before. And the dark hair, that used to be a medium to dark brown is now black. My eyebrows have not started to come back yet, so can't comment on that. I've noticed a few woman have said the same about black hair coming in. Very strange, huh?
-
Yes strange. Sounds like our former hair was the same color. My husband says "your hair is coming in my color" He's right although he has more gray since he is a bit older.
I guess it doesn't matter since it will be dyed soon enough. Thing is my "mustache" is coming in that dark too and really hard to bleach. It's not long enough to get removed.
-
I had no idea what color my hair was because I had been hilighting it for 30 years...well I found out I have salt and pepper hair, ick. So I just dyed it RED.
