June glad your MO is finally taking you seriously. These stomach issues are a pain. Mine finally seems under control with prilosec. Glad you are switching to the female MO. I bet you will be much happier with her.

Sandee sorry you did not get to keep your privacy. Somethimes people misjudge and think they are doing something good.

Sandee - Whine away if you want to.  I know what it is like for everyone to know your business.  That is what happened to me after I was diagnosed.  Seemed the whole world knew.  Thought someone might have put it on a billboard.  Glad your cholesteral is getting under control.

Ladies- You are going to have to help me with Tink.  She got out of control at the last sleepover.  Drank too much and I thought I would have to clip her wings.  Maybe we have to set down some rules for her before the weekend.  She is really pretty good, and a good sport about all this, but you know how she can be.  LOL!

I just received a call from the receptionist at my RO's office.  She could tell yesterday I was not happy about not getting the answer to my question.  Sweet girl that she is she followed up with the nurse and called me back today with an answer.  The nurse needs to take lessons from the receptionist.

Tinkerdoodle - Some people can be so cruel.  Why don't some understand that whether or not to have recon is a personal decision and a difficult one to make.  Those who have not been in that position can't even imagine what an emotional struggle bc can be to begin with.  Hope you are having a better day.

I will stop picking on you - I don't you will be good - but for how long?  LOL

    Have a Great Day

SherryI had 2 surgeries which took over 18cms of breast tissue out and I thought I was a good candidate for implants and as it turns out., I am not and I am so depressed as that is the route I want to do, not a diep flap which is what they are suggesting.  SO that is why I think I am choosing to do nothing at all.....and stay lopsided big time.....I hope you get to do it and I am sure you are going to look wonderful.......how are you and the meds doing these days?

Tink- sometimes people just don't get it and hopefully they will never have to.....all this BS we go through just SUCKS!!!! excuse my french.

Jo what's for lunch as I am so hungry but afraid to eat today.....

Alicia I try to be a good daughter and my Dad means the world to me.....he worked his tail off for his 9 kids and although he never did anything major as far as travels and such, he says he would do it all over again.....

tink so sorry your MIL said what she did.  Others without bc just don't get it.  Hope they never have to.

June-so glad you got to spend time with your Dad.  They are so special to us.

Jo-love grilled cheese and tomatoe soup. yum

Am having a burning sensation around my lymph node area and it is radiating down into my breast. There is a knot there as well.  I am thinking maybe it is a seroma.  I don't know if they can pop up 6 months after surgery and 2 months after rads??? Jo I know you had a seroma is this possible???  gee it just keeps coming.  So I called my BS and made an appt to see her tomorrow.  Only thing, it is her surgery day so I have to call before I go just to make sure she is in the office.  You guys I really am not a whinny baby and have a pretty high pain tolerance.  I am just tired of hurting.

Sherry - I don't think it is a seroma.  You would feel the pain in the nipple and have a feeling of fullness.  I had the same kind of burning sensation that started a month after rads.  My BS ordered a CT scan and bone scan and could not find anything.  I put up with the pains for 2 1/2 months before it finally went away. I have no idea what it was but it suddenly went away.  We have the feeling it had something to do with rads and the nerves healing - the timing was right.  I know you are not a whinny baby and feel your pain.  I had the same thing and it got to be frustrating.  Sometimes I would get stabbing pains and they would settle down.  I know you are tired of hurting - so was I.

June - Don't ask me how I do it when it comes to picking the food.  Maybe we are too much alike and just don't know it.  I thought of what I would have wanted if I was feeling the way you were.  I could have grilled cheese & tomato soup anytime.  As for the other times, just lucky I guess.

OK, what did I do in my former life that it's pay back now?

Chipped my tooth sucking on a chewy caramel stick.

With little hair, swollen boob, achy joints and now a chipped tooth. I guess I'd better withdraw from the beauty pageant.

Oh happy pills where art thou?

Tinks ~ so sorry about your friend and her comments about the reconstruction.  Very insensitive.  It is such a personal thing and everyone deals with it differently.  HUGS !

Sherry ~ Not sure about that burning thing and knot.  I didn't have radiation ~ (had a double mastectomy)  I hope you get some relief and answers soon.  Sounds like JO had something similar.

Jo ~ thank you for the delicious comfort food.  Grilled cheese = Yummy !

June ~ aww on your dad.  You are 1 of 9 kids ~ wow !!!  Sorry about your lopsided boobies.  But hey you look HOT to me !

    Hello tammi Ladies,

Sandee I'm concerned about this clotting issue for you. Tamoxifen is definitely known to cause this, but if you go on an AI (if you are past menopause) they too have heart issues as SE's. There is an article about it on this site under new research news. So as you already know be your own advocate. I hope you get things straight with your trip and that you're feeling better soon!

Tink my brother had the radiation implants with the former Mayor of New York's (forgive my spelling- Guliani? 's) Drs. and his went away completely with very few SE's. I think if it's an option... especially for an older man...it is way less invasive than surgery.

    Good Luck to all!

Tink - Good luck tomorrow.  Guess you are going to be restricted to sodas or ice tea with NOTHING added.

Jules - Sorry about the tooth - I hope it wasn't a front one.

June - Once again we are on the same wavelength.  I had a vaccum break down this week, set up my coffee the night before, set the timer and forgot the grounds - then I found out the stupid thing broke - UGH!  I gotta have my coffee in the morning.  Guess we will have to visit the money tree in the back yard - LOL

Hi Alicia - Nice to see you today.

Well, Dancing with the Stars is on so I am off to my sewing room for awhile.  I should be back later.

Well ladies, of course it was the front tooth. Don't think I'd do myself a favour by chipping any other.  I love to live dangerously. LOL

OK June, you beat me at "shit the bed". I'm sooooooooooo sorry, it gave me quite the laugh. Yes, now you all know I have a sick sense of humour.

Managed to get an appt to get the front tooth fixed/touched up/repaired before I leave for LA.  I do not want the Southern CA folks thinking 'what the hell kind of people live up in the Pac NW"

Have a great Tuesday evening xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Jules - The front tooth is something I would do and just before leaving town.  Glad you were able to get an appt before going to LA.  I am originally from that area and most of those people would not even notice.

    Hi Ladies!

Am new to this thread, and it seems very fun! But I have a few Tamox questions, if any of you can offer insight or personal experience, I'd be most grateful!

I started Tamox 6 days ago and so far, so good...but am wondering if any of you have any serious SEs like an increase in endometrial lining, growth of fibroids or ovarian cysts? Any spotting or endometrial cancer after being on this drug for a while? I didn't know Tamox could cause fibroids to grow. Yikes! I had a large one removed in 2005 and would really not be happy to have it grow back. Should I have a baseline uterine ultrasound done now? Anyone else do this?

I know SEs probably depend on age and menopausal status... I am 52 and in peri-menopause (my last period was in December).

Thanks in advance for any replies! ;-)

RENNAUS..Welcome aboard. I am pre menapausal but my gyn did not do any baseline ultrasound. I would probably talk with them though if you have had fibriods before and are concerned. I have been on Tam since sept and so far have not come across those particular side effects.Good luck to you!

Thanks ALicia and Jo..I will be anxiously awaiting his call . I will update you all

JO... That might be necessary to cut me off Fri... BUT.... would it be as much fun???  hahahahah although I can be pretty silly without the bubbly! :)

Rennasus - Welcome to the Tammy Train.  We tend to have a real good time here.  Hang out and see what happens.

I have been on Tamox for just about 3 months and  can't tell you if I have had an increase in the endometrial lining.  I am not due for my annual gyn exam until June.  I have read about this issue from other ladies and will ask my gyn is a transvaginal US is necessary - in fact, I may insist on one for a baseline.  I am 55 and have been post menopausal for over 3 years.  I do have a history of fibroids and that does give me concern.

My hot flashes have been reduced to warm waves and I am experiencing "neuropathic pains" in my toes and feet.  I have to take Lyrica so I can walk.  I take my dose at breakfast with a glass of milk to stop the queasy stomach I had in the beginning.  I do sleep well - must be the combination of Tamox & Lyrica.  Other than that, I am doing great.

Perhpas some of the other ladies can chime in and share their experiences.

    Rennasus,

Welcome aboard. You couldn't ask for a more fun group of ladies on this thread. Be careful, the majority carry pillows. LOL. Also, Jo makes incredible desserts.

Like Jo and Tink, I never had a baseline and I am due for my OBGYN appt this May.  Just like the others I will be asking lots of questions and we'll see the response. April will be my 4th month on Tamox.

My day flashes are better, however, my hot flashes at night are horrible.

Jo, glad to know they would notice my hill billy tooth in CA. LOL

    Jules
