Sandee ~  Happy belated birthday.  I am glad your heart is fixed up and you are here to celebrate it.  Sounds like your friends are taking good care of you.

ECG ~ :(   I am sorry you are not feeling good.  Your surgery was not all that long ago either your body is still recovering from that.  And then adding the tamoxifen back in.  Be kind to yourself, rest when you can and I hope things settle down soon.

June ~ good luck with your MO today. Please let us know how you make out.

JO ~ yummy dessert thank you.  It is so wonderful to have all this delicious calorie free food !   Especially since we have to be in a bathing suit in 19 days.

Tink ~ hope you are flying around and behaving.  :)

    Have a good day girls.

    :)

I put my bathing suit on this weekend for the first time since surgery.  I have access to a pool anytime I want to go for a swim.  I wanted to see how my skin would hold up in the sun on the radiated side.  I used sunscreen and kept my back to the skin.  I did well.  So at least I know I will be able to go snorkeling in Cozumel and not have to worry about that.

I will have to get something to put in the left cup of my suit though as I am more lopsided than I thought.  I do okay in my bra but the suit is another matter.

Jo I have been so concerned about that as well.  This is my 2nd lumpectomy and before rads I could tell it would be smaller, but since rads I have continued to be swollen.  Just over the weekend using Celebrex and icepacs the swelling is going down and now I will have to see.  Will just need to wait until all the swelling is out. I bought a new swim suit so will just have to see.

June please check in and let us know what your MO says today.  Been thinking about you.

Jo, I can't stop eating your dessertsLaughing

Tried on my swim suit for the trip to LA and OMG talk about needing a bigger size.  My breast that is swollen from rads is hanging up and out. So not a pretty sight.  Also, no matter how much I suck my stomach in I still have this little pouch.

Sandee, glad to hear you recognised the heart attack. Sending lots of hus your way xxxx

Sherry - I was surprised at how much smaller I got after rads.  I knew I would lose some but I did shrink.  I don't wear anything clingy for that reason.  I might change my mind if I were to look more even.

Jo-Will be interesting to see how mine turn out if I can ever get rid of this swelling.  But the Celebrex and ice are working.

After running into my RO on Friday and him telling me what to do about my achy breast and he said if I was not allergic to the Celebrex and it worked to call him on Monday and he would call me in a script.  So today midmorning I called the office and asked for the nurse and the receptionist (very sweet girl) tells me she is in with patients.  I said fine and told her about running into the Dr. and what he told me to do and that I would like the script called in and also had a question about how long to continue using ice on my breast.  A couple of hours later the receptionist calls me back with a message from the nurse.  "It does not matter that you are allergic to ibuprophen you can still take Celebrex and I called it in". I said what about my question regarding the ice pacs.  She said she did not give me an answer so I guess she wants you to talk to the Dr on your followup visit. urgggggggggggh   Are you kidding me, my follow up is April 25th, I just wanted a simple answer something like one week or two weeks and see how ya do.  And I did not ask her her opinion on my allergy to medication I had already had that discussion with the Dr on Friday and I was following his instructions.   What is it with this nurse??? Almost makes me wonder if the Dr knows that she reacts this way.  She is the reason I have not called the doctor with this pain before this.  Two days after it started I took my Dad in and I ask to speak to her and told her about the breast pain and she said oh that is normal take Ibuprofen, when I told her I was allergic she said oh then take Tylenol.  No call us if it is not better in two weeks or anything.  I was so frustrated I told my DH I felt like texting my Dr. with the question that his nurse could not give me a simple answer for.  DH told me not to do it. He keeps me level headed and said he (Dr) appoligezed again to you on Friday night and it was sincer and obviously has bothered him that he was short with you on the phone that day.  DH said I should blow it off and maybe mention it on my followup in April.  She never comes in the room when I am there to see the Dr. so I would have no problem talking to him about it.  Just frustrated with her attitude.  I know others of you out there have run into some of this same stuff with staff members. I think they forget that we are the patients and without us they do not have a job.  I'll get off my soap box as it is 5pm and I need to go home.  Yoga tonight which will help with my nurse frustrations.

Sherry - That nurse sounds like the rad onc nurse I have except she would not answer any of my questions.  I think she did best at filling charts.  Both are made for each other - like Alicia said she is an ass.

June - WHERE ARE YOU?  WHAT DID THE DOCTOR SAY?  We are all thinking about you

Hi ladies....thank you all for thinking of me and so sorry it took so long to get back to you.  Today is the day I spend with my terminal Dad and I make dinner for him and visit my Mom who is in a nursing home.....fun fun....

Well my idiot Doc was not so much the idiot, however I did change to a woman after talking to the Nurse today and she sounded pumped when I asked her how she was as a Doctor.  Also, my mother in law uses her as well.  So the next visit in September should be different.  Long story short, he basically blew me off about my joint pain, but took me seriously about the stomach and is working with my primary to plan ahead as what we do next.  He is scheduling me for an endoscopic and depending on how that comes out he said his next choice would be a CAT scan.....he thinks in his mind that it could be an ulcer and asked if I was under stress and I thought NO.....but then I got to thinking about it and told him about my father.  My husband thinks he is smoking crack as my husband knows how uncomfortable I have been and cant fathom that this pain could be from an ulcer.....all I know is I want to get better and get my life back......he did say my thyroid was great but my THS levels were on the rise and we would watch them, but not to worry for now.....so thank you each and every one of you lovely ladies....I don't know what I would do without you.

Jo- I am so lopsided as I have never done anything to correct this yet.  However, I hate bathing suit season as it is so hard to find a suit that I can put my do hickey in and feel confident it is not going to fall out.  Last year as I let my guard down and was swimming in my pool with the kids....my son yells "hey Mom, look what I found.....awesome" and started playing with it....too funny, so needless to say I am very cautious wearing a suit now and you can buy the enhancements at Victoria Secrets or from a medical supply company and just look for a suit that has the pads in it and take it out and sew that in or pin it.....

Sherry your nurse sounds like my Doc......

June - At least the doc is working on the stomach issues.  Too bad he blew you off about the joint pain.  I for one know how debilitating it can be.  The Lyrica is working pretty good for me.  Too bad you have to wait until Sept to start working with the new doctor.  Sounds like she would be so much better for you.  Is there any way you can get in with her earlier.  Why do you have to wait until Sept?  You will have to keep us posted.

On the swimsuit issue, I have a good friend who is a 16 year survivor and had a lumpectomy.  One third of her breast was removed and she wears mastectomy type bras.  She is going to take me to a shop in the local area that has masectomy/lumpectomy clothing so I can get my suit top fitted with a pad.  She is going to help me sew a pocket in my suit so the pad does not come out.  She showed me what hers looks like and I think I can duplicate it.  This shop does sell suits for lumpectomy gals but I am going to be stubborn and try to make mine work.  I bought it last year and don't want to give it up.  It took me a long time to find a tankini top that is long and does show my  pooch of a tummy.

Okay Jo for all of the few days you were on FB, I saw how super thin you are and I cannot imagine you having anything to hide....you are a beautiful woman and I could only wish to be as thin as that.....I used to be and then I had kids....ha ha

I think I need to check out the mastectomy line of bras as I just bought my insert from Victoria and never made it to the medical supply co......just so sick of all this BS....

I am sure if they need to see me ( my MO ), they will but basically it is in another 6 months.....oh well!!!!

June - Thanks so much.  I worked hard about 5 years ago to lose 20 lbs.  I did not like the way I looked and so I set my mind to losing weight.  No diets or diet pills invovled.  I just cut down on my portions and changed a few things I ate.  I was a very tight size 12 and really did not have any intentions of getting down to a size 4 and staying that way.  I eat until I am not hungry and now I eat kid's portions but I eat 4 - 5 times a day.  I went from 158 to 138.  I have always struggled with weight so this is a big victory for me.  At times I had to work hard at not losing anymore weight after surgery and during rads.  I got so depressed at times that I did not have the energy or the appetite.

I think the idea of getting something for the suit is a matter of making myself more comfortable.  I am kinda self-conscious about it right now.  May not feel like this in a year but right now this whole concept is still too new - if you know what I mean.  I need this to make me feel good about myself.

I am so sick of the BC crap too.  What a major life saver.

I might add you are one beautiful lady too and your husband is one lucky guy.

ECG- so sorry you have been having a rough time on tami....10mgs...you are getting up there sister....increment by increment..you can do it.

jo- thought the feather pillows might be softer but just realized tink could hide in 'em...hmmmm. other ideas ladies?

    Thanks june!

I found out today that the tamoxifen did not cause the heart attack and neither did the radiation...my cholesteroal , which was a 5.41 in 2008 was celarly already an issue....I have brought it down to 3.75 with exercize and diet so....that is close to the 3.4 that they want folks to have but after  a heartattack, they want it at 2....so...pillls it will be until I demonstrate otherwise to them....will be a good girl for now...my dr is terrific...the realized how overwhelmed I was being on tamoxifem initially and this cockail of 6 more is completely overwhelming....and people at work are telling folks outside of work that I had a heart attack so now I am getting emails from folks I did not tell ....hoping I am well....I don't want everyone to know! Is that crazy? I felt the same way about breast cancer..I will tell folks when and if I tell them/ I do not wan to be a poster chold....ARGH!!!!!!Sorry I am whining....just...irritated me..as loving as the gestured might have been....

Sandee your not whining. I understand, its not crazy you should be able to tell who you want when you want. I believe people mean well, but it can all be such a frustrating process. I am glad your cholesterol is coming down and you are feeling better!  oh thanks for the idea with the feather pillows I never thought of that :) lol! hugs!
