Onetoughwoman47,
I agree! Although, I am definitely a "work in progress" on that front! I think that's why I save so many quotes like that! To remind myself as to what really matters and, more importantly, what doesn't!
This is one I have on my fridge right now..."I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it." ......Groucho Marx
Hugs right back to you!!!

Ladies: The prayers are working! Long story short, I met with the gyn onc this afternoon for a post-op and he and my med onc had put their heads together. He is going to do more surgery. He's removing my entire omentum (only a portion was removed in last surgery and it was the only thing that had cancer in it). So he says they think we're dealing with "early Stage 3" (an oxymoron, I know), but IF there's not a lot more cancer in the whole omentum after it comes out, they are acutally using the "c" word: Cure! They think it's a possibility with more surgery and another round of chemo. I was flying when I left there! The down side is the new surgery can't be done laproscopically, so I'll have a 4-inch long abdominal incision and a longer recovery (up to 6 weeks, ouch), but I'm ready! Surgery is next Wed. They'll piggy back with my plastic surgeon. I was already on the schedule for my implant exchange, so the PS will do his part and then the gyn onc will do his part, I'll stay in the hospital one, possibly two, nights. I'm so psyched. I can't tell you ladies how much I appreciate your prayers and encouraging words. You rock!
PS I'm being lazy and copying and pasting this same post on a couple more threads, so you may run across this again

OH BAMA!!!!! I had just told my husband that I had signed off for the night but just saw your post!!!
I have been thinking of you and this is SUCH GREAT news!! I am so relieved and just BEYOND happy for you!! The surgery may be a bit more than you bargained for but, it sounds like they are optimistic that this will be it!!! Going to be a bit long of a recovery time but I have to believe that this is the last hurdle you will have to overcome!
Keeping both you and your husband in my prayers!! Will be praying for you both on Wednesday!!!
-
Ladyinbama: So glad on your good news. My prayers will be with you during and after your surgery .Seasidememo: Really loved the quote, I havent been able to quit at all yet, one day at a time. Bama, SO happy for you. I had a similar incision when I had a ruptured etopic pregnancy years ago (I know, not the same) but the recovery is defiantly doable. I assume similar to a C-section.... Keeping you in my prayers. It's great to see some good news.
-
(((((Bama)))) What great news!!!!
-
Bama, what great news, I can feel you flying high. The doctors sound certain that this is the way to go and it is just wonderful news. Prayers and thoughts keep coming your way. Karen

Hi all, will be going to Pa. to help my godmother's son pack up her clothes, jewelry, and knick knacks. Please keep me in your prayers, I know it will be an emotional time. It's also where I slipped and had a cig. last time, but now I feel like sweet, I have too many days free to goof up now. Karen
-
Karen,
When it was time to pack my mom's things up.... it wasn't as hard as I expected. I actually had a harder time yesterday (The 5 year anniversary of her death) than I did packing her stuff up. Im not saying it will be easy, but it's also a time for remembrance. Stay strong.
-
thanks sweet, sometimes the hard times sneak up on us don't they. I'll stay strong. Karen

(((((Karen and Sweet)))
Sweet
Doesn't matter how old we are... the anniversary of someone who was so deeply loved, especially our Mom, is really are so hard!
Are you feeling better from the chemo? I sure hope so! Have things gotten better with your daughter?
Karen,
No way around it... that is not going to be an easy task for either you or her son! When are you traveling to PA?
I will be with you in thoughts and prayers and I know your godmother will be as well! Take comfort in KNOWING how much she loved you and how PROUD she would be of you!!
VJ,
Thanks for letting us know that you are now on Kindle!!! Great news! I have a couple of people in mind that I will let know about this!
Barbara...
Love the new avatar... You and your husband look so happy!!!
Bama,
Hope you are hanging in there... please KNOW that you will be in all of our thoughts and prayers on Wednesday! Here's to hoping this is the last hurdle that you will need to get over!!
-
Jennifer,
Thanks for asking. YES. I am FINALLY feeling better now. I was able to eat for the first time last night. Im so glad chemo is DONE (except for the herceptin). I woke up this morning actually feeling some energy.
Things with my daughter are good.... I can't make decisions for her so all I can do is love and support her. She has been having little belly pains and it is very early in the pregnancy, so what will be will be. If it doesnt work out, it will be a wake up call for her. I saw her today, and it didnt seem like she was gushing over the idea of having another baby.
-
SS, thanks. The picture is probably 8 years old, though. We both look a lot older now.
-
Sweet,
Glad to hear that you have bounced back a bit quicker from this, your LAST, chemo!!! That has to feel wonderful!!
Wow!!! Take some time to reflect on how far you have come and to APPRECIATE how STRONG you are!! You have hit the nail on the head when it comes to our children... The best we can do is to love and support them.. the rest is up to them!
Barbara,
To quote Steven Tyler on American Idol....
"You don't look a day over fabulous!!"
-
Bama,
Not sure if you will check here tonight but just wanted to say that you will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow as you go through your surgeries!
Hoping and praying that this is the final surgery for you! Lord knows, you have been through so much.

Thanks Barbara and O2B,
Just did my pre-surgical testing yesterday, although the term 'surgery' is being used a bit loosely. It's surgery in that you are having procedure in the hospital and it is being done under sedation but, I put it in the same category as a colonoscopy! Not worried so much about the event itself (although I could be surprised), more so about the results! April 6th is the day!
Bama,
Just wanted to say that I have been thinking of you and hoping all has gone well!!! Let us know when you are able to!

Sweet, Jan and Karen,
Haven't heard from you recently! Sure hope that all is OK and tonight finds you well!!!
-
Hi Ladies:
Jennifer, I'll be praying for wonderful results on 4/6.!!!
I was traveling yesterday and today, but back and just driving by. Tired from long drive. Bought a new bathing suit last night and the 'girls' fill it out very nicely!

I'm only 3 weeks post exchange but curious on size. I think I'll go get measured tomorrow.
My and DH were looking at results tonight and I think fat grafting is in my future. The BC side is a little concave. I"m hoping the other side drops to match or I may need some revision. Too early to tell.

Jan,
Glad to hear the swim suit shopping went well!!
I have to say... I am amazed at how fast you all are healing!! I didn't really get much further than a consult for reconstruction so I am not really familiar with fat grafting... Is that another big surgery?
Bama,
Soooo HAPPY to hear you are home! I can't believe they let you come home so soon! DANG girl, you just had a LOT of surgery!!! I know you will be far more comfortable at home than you would be in the hospital but PLEASE take this time to allow yourself to heal!!!
Thinking of you and praying that, from here on out, is nothing but smooth sailing!!!
You just work on getting better!! Luv ya too!!!
-
Bama - so happy to hear you are home and resting. Praying for good news on Tuesday!!!!
