Day : I just took a peak at the facebook site, and I've got to tell you that you are doing a good job of rising above the squabbling. I don't think I could be as thick skinned. Keep up the good work. K

This is what I wrote with my friends' requests.
Those cancer awareness games have stirred up a lot of strong feelings among cancer patients. If you REALLY want to help them then please read their page and respect their feelings.
-
KSkier, I DID delete of few of them, when they proved to be just trolls. But as I said, I am thick skinned, because none of these people are important to me. Does that make sense?

1097 and I'm going to bed now.

Ladies, don't forget to invite your friends too! We need this to go viral!
-
Posted a link to the event along with the following in two Facebook IBC groups I am in to help spread the word! I know some of the ladies in the groups are also members on this site as well.
Hi ladies! A fellow breastcancer.org member has created an event in response to the silly FB BC awareness games. It's VERY worthy of passing along and I hope you ladies will take a moment to look at it and sign up for the event.
-
Thank you, Holly!
-
1405! This is getting bigger and bigger, I hope by the end of May we get quite a number! Once we get to 5,000 participants I'll go for the media.
-
You guys HAVE to see the "prostate cancer" comment on the event's wall!!!
MMM.. too late. I deleted it as it was degenerating in squabbling.
Essentially he was saying that this is a sexist event and he will join when he will see events about prostate cancer.
-
1709! And I'm going to bed.

Day, I have already signed up. Please define next step. I know you would like us to donate to an organization that helps those BC women that need financial help. Before I donate to any organization I ask what % goes to the actual intended of that charity. In order to make the impact you are looking for, this should be defined before hand. Plus, if it is a singular organization vs each members in state organization. That needs to be defined. The biggest impact is going to be seen in a singular organization that has the lowest administrative cost to intended function, yet dispenses in a fair fashion to all states. Then once the organization is defined , they have to be forwarned that there may be an influx of donations. Can they be done by phone, website and what are there security guidelines. Also, how to avoid scammers taking off on your mission , using your story by phone to scam money. I was recently scammed, regretfully, so am a bit sensitive to security issues. Can we make donation prior to may 31st and have it tabulated into your "game". Forwarning the organization, allows them to upstaff in preparing for more calls etc. There is still plenty of time. But once you have info periodically post or do a topic thread with directions. Security is an issue. You have hit a hotspot for sure with many. Scammers would love to say i'm representing Day blah blah. so, choosing an organization that has a strong security system is very important--otherwise your mission will fall down the rabbit hole and become fodder for tabloid jokes. That is not meant to be cruel, but helpful.

I can vouch for Sas... (How are you?).
Day... that soup was so awesome.. I have a couple teenagers and a group of their friends came over with my son and asked if I'd make it for them (as if I could just up and make soup in the middle of the day)..
-
Sas, the event doesnt' actually require participants to donate anything, once the event is over we will challenge Mark Zuckerberg and others in the media, to match $1 for each participant. My proposed organization was Cancercare.org. They were going to help me last year when I didn't know what I was going to do with my co-pays. But, when researching the charities (you can do that at http://www.charitynavigator.org) I saw that they are not very efficient, they only raise 2 cents for every dollar spent. The most efficient that I could find is the American Breast CancerFoundation.
Here's their website and here's their evaluation.
So, as we are not actually donating ourselves, unless we want to, and it is stated clearly in the text of the event, I dont' think there can be any scam.

Apple - that is funny! Yes, I had people coming over many times and askign me about the soup lol
