I have a tough time keeping up with this forum because it moves so fast.  I have a question about hot flashes-I have them alot.  They wake me up right before I one.  It took me awhile to figure it out but now I wake up and then I realize I am about to have a hot flash.  I also experience a bad feeling right before one happens during the day.  I will be doing something and I will feel wierd.  It is almost a feeling of nausea and then a wave of tiredness.  I have the hot flash and then I will feel normal again. it was like this before the Tamoxifen which I have been on for 3 weeks. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

Candy - I would think a condom.  Isn't it funny to feel like a teenager again?  Maybe down the road he would consider a trip to his doctor?

Sherry, here's to us not having any hot/day/night/every minute hot flashes.

Debbie, I am 43 and was having a few hot flashes before being dx'd and didn't get anymore with chemo. But boy, since starting Tamox, it's been awful. I am carrying a fan around with me.

Lindy, fun you should mention "trip to the Dr".  Just had that discussing with my husband after he couldn't find any protection.  I was able to roll over and go to sleep. My hubby not so much. LOL

    Sleep well ladies zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

You are too funny, you know that?  That is what I love most about all of you.  So a question, are any of you feeling particularly blue/sad/depressed and are we thinking this, too, is another present from the drug?

I honestly wonder what is worse, worrying about a recurrence or proceeding with this daily onslaught of gllitches in my life.  (just venting)

take good care and just breathe. . .

I have not yet started my Tamoxifen journey (next month), but I was encouraged to read that a 5-year course of tammy also protects against cardiovascular disease. Gotta love those added benefits!

This is a great bunch of funny ladies that I am glad I check in regularly, you guys are too much......

My husband has his appt on April 6th and let me tell you what a baby he is about this whole thing......Come on all they have to do is ejaculate in a cup while fantasizing about someone else and just a little snip snip and a pack of frozen peas......come on, we have all been through a thousand times worse......no sympathy here.....

Tummy is not as bad today, lets just hope it stays this way......my BF told me she thinks it is hormonal as I just got my period.  I hate to wast my time with an Ultra sound, but really!!!!

Hello and good morning to all you lovely ladies......Tink, Jo, Sherry, ECG, Swanseagirl, Alicia, Teklya and anyone else I might have forgotten.....

    Good morning tammi ladies.

Teklya-I am feeling down this morning as well.  I don't know if it is the tammi or if it is because I have insomnia so bad and have had such lack of sleep since I started tammi.  I don't function well when I am tired and I get very irratible.   I have never looked so forward to seeing a Dr. as I do mine on Friday.  Surely he will have some solutions for me.

June glad your tummy is feeling better.  Maybe you just needed to start your period.

Jo glad you are not having SE, I think you had your share when your were trying the AL's

Lindy137 - thanks!  At 53, I'm thinking he's not going to choose to go that route, but it'd be worth mentrioning to just see his face.  It is very strange to be feeling this way, but he's a wonderful guy.

To all who are dealing with hot flashes, etc., I was having them for the first time in life, along with lots of emotional periods.  I'd never cried so often.  I'm pleased to pass on that after 10 months on tamoxifen, those have gone away and I really can't say that I have any SEs at this point.  I know some may surface later, but none for now.  Here's hoping that yours will fade or disappear altogether!

June ~ I couldn't agree more with you on the men with their little snip snip ~ they act like they are having a limb removed.  My DH went for the appt and in the pre-testing they found it he has some clot disorder with his blood so he never had it done.  grrrr...  Glad your tummy is feeling better.

Sherry ~ gosh darn it, I swear when you don't sleep I don't either. Cut it out now.  I took melatonin last night trying that route and stared at the ceiling all night.

Renassus ~ I hope when you start your tamoxifen you stay SE free.

Candy ~ glad to hear you are SE free at the moment.  woo HOO !

Feeling hungry today.  UH OH.  Jo what are you baking?  :P

I am so psyched about the cruise in 24 days.  We will be in the Cayman Islands on my birthday and hubby just told me I could book a massage.  I have had one on thee ship before and they are wonderful.  What a birthday present.  We spend the day shopping, then I go for the massage and a relaxing dinner after.

    The muffins were delicious.

Sherry - So sorry you are still dealing with insomnia.  There has got to be something your onc can do to help you get more sleep.  I know what that is like.  I go to bed at 10:00pm, toss & turn until midnight, fall asleep and then up and down all night between warm waves.  Somehow I know when one is about to hit and it wakes me up.  Have to wait until it passes to get back to sleep.  I might get 5 hours total a night.  The Lyrica was helping with sleep at first but now I am back to fighting to get rest.

Jo sorry yiour Lyrica is not working as well.  I know you said you were going to talk to you Dr about increasing the dosage.  Have you done that yet?  I don't have trouble falling asleep but I am like you in that my body wakes me up before the hot flash hits and my biggest problem right now is that the hot flashes come one right after the other for a couple of hours so I do not go back to sleep because I have to get up for work.  On the weekends I can go back to sleep but then that really messes up your day sleeping so late.  Maybe I should just start going to sleep about 8PM and then I would get enough sleep.  Massage sounds wonderful.  The first weekend of april I am having my yearly get together with my childhood girlfriends and we are staying at a spa resort in Austin and I am going to have a massage.  Have not had one in a very long time.  I might just fall asleep on that table.haha

Just got back from lunch with a couple of girlfriends.  Have not done that in a long time as I seem to always have doctors appts and work through my lunch hour to not go into alot of my time in case I need it later.  When the three of us get together we just laugh.  One of them has the cuttiest teenage boy (16) who is really a good kid, but he is doing some normal boy stuff and she needed to vent.  It felt good to not be the one venting this time. We talked mostly about family and kids and very little about bc which was nice.

Jules - Would love to take you along.  We are going to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Cozumel.  In Jamaica we are going on a Rum Estate tour, shopping in the Caymans and snorkeling in Cozumel.  Everytime we go to Cozumel, we do the same thing - just love the water.  We will be gone 7 wonderful days.  Ship sails on Sun, Apr 17th but we will leave home on the 16th and spend the night in Texas City which is 13 miles from the cruise port.  The hotels on the island have gotten too expensive.  I don't drink alcohol much but they have a drink I have to have.  I can't get it anywhere else.  It is called a Miami Vice.  It is half strawberry daiquiri and half pina colada.  I have posted a picture of this before and will post it again so you don't have to go back numerous pages to find it.  Here is what it looks like.

Charmaine-thanks for the link you posted.  That was a good article and at least tamoxifen has another added benefit.  Maybe these SE are worth it.

HEY look I did it ~ shared a picture ! Jo here is a picture of our cruise ship ~ woo HOO. That drink looks yummy, shame I gave up alcohol. lol    Girls, what is your thoughts on pre-tanning for the cruise, maybe 2 times?  I used to do it all the time, now I fear skin cancer.........  Does anyone go tanning.  May have to look for a good tan in a can.  :)

justmealicia-i think I would do the spray on tan.  Of course I have had rads so tanning bed is not a good option anyway.  But I have seen results from the spray tan and they look really good.  I think they take two weeks to fade so it would last for your trip.  Can I hide out in your suitcase as well.
