Wow, things got nasty while I was off working!!! Here's a recap:

"A study of THREE women who"....that to me is NEWS - not a medical fact. It was just a warning to doctors about being sued, not a medical FACT. They could have said 'Three women who shopped at Sears in the lingerie department and bought white brassieres in size 36C....' Makes the same amount of sense.

Abortions do NOT involved drugs 'after the abortion' as was stated many pages ago. Normally they are a simple D&C procedure. I know as I know a number of women who had them. And no, they don't have bc...I do!

Estrogen levels and abortion/miscarriage. As we know, abortions can't be provided after what, 15-20 weeks? Estrogen levels would just be beginning to rise. Certainly not at any level that some poor souls have reached when they miscarry or have stillborn births.

"They" seem to be trying to find things that we "have control" over as a prevention. Notice they don't say live in the middle of no-where, don't own a car, computer or cell phone and only eat what you watch grow!

I STILL want to know what Dr. Weiss "blames" her cancer on! Laughing (Voracious, I did 'get' the point of the medical provider divulging too much personal info as an affront.)

Add to that work outdoors all day, go to sleep when the sun goes down and wake up at sunrise, have only face to face social networks, and not sitting at desks or on a couch in front of a tv.

LauraGTO and PatMom ... not surprisingly but why on earth did you report my posts?

I don't want to wake up to the "F" bomb written out with no substituted letters or characters, and directed to someone on this board.  Obviously several other people felt the same way I did and reported it before me.

PatMom, oh, I'm sure.  Okay, if that's what you find so offensive.  Surprised

Just curious.  For those reporting posts because of the F bomb.  Did you also report a thread titled 'Fuck, Fuck, Fuckery"?  If not then please do so.  Otherwise, wouldn't that be considered a double standard?  I, myself, don't like to read, or write, profanity either but if the moderators allowed that entire thread to stand, how can they justify removing another poster's post using the same words?

I have seen profanity posted alot on this board and it seems the only time it is reported is to target or bully a specific poster.

The Mods told me that they gave particular leeway to Stage IV posters who used the "F" word like in that thread you mention Always.

Oh, so just having cancer and being stalked isn't good enough for the 'F' word?  Truth is, if you type 'fuck' in the search box, 16 pages come up!!!!  Maybe it was cuz PatMom 'woke up' to mine?  Yeah, right.

Thanks, Barbe.  I didn't know that.  That would explain it.

For those who are unaware, what Angel has said elsewhere about being the first target of the report tool is true.  She was unfairly banned.  She is NOT a troublemaker as some would like to make her to be.  She is strongly opinionated but then most of us are.  She did nothing to deserve being banned.

There is a huge difference between someone saying F... cancer, which I would have no issue with, and writing it out in full, and directing those sentiments toward a sister on these boards because you disagree with her.

    To no one in particular:

This thread unwittingly "showcases" the new moderation tools, some of which we are all learning and should provide feedback to Melissa on.

For those of you not in the know, Melissa announced some moderation changes in the "Cyberbullies" thread and the Moderator Messages forum too, after I set up a fund to make some reforms. Some of us had some questions that she said she would get back to us on but I would appreciate hearing from her. So we now know how reported posts look - they say "Edited by...." and the person is different from the author of the post. I wish they could change that "edited" to "reported" since it looks strange - but maybe this is a simpler method?

The other thing this shows is, apparently, that people with less than 50 posts to their account name can still report posts. Some of us had asked for that to be changed, I don't know if the mods decided NOT to change it or if they plan to but need more money (which would make sense, since you would have to customize features).

Not sure about the automatic system banning policy and whether that has changed.

For those not following the issue, one thing that has changed too is that newbies no longer have five-posts-per-24-hour-period limits.

I apologize for going off topic. Just thought that some people reading this might be curious to understand what is going on. For more information (if you have time/interest/a stake in what is going on) selected "readings" are: The "I say yes, you say no thread" (look for posts by "efflorescing" and that is about the range of time at which pertinent events took place - I don't want to single her out at all but a search of her posts coincides with some events that are pertinent to things here), the "cyberbullies" thread and the Moderator messages forum as well as the "fellow deletees thread."

Just in case anyone had any doubts about why the name of someone who reports a post should not be made public, just look at the bullying that is going on here toward me on this thread because I reported a post that I believe was in flagrant violation of the rules of the board, and the person whose post was reported has decided to attack me personally for that.

PatMom, I understand you feel attacked and that's probably how I would feel as I am very sensitive. But, from the readers side of it, I just see you being asked why you were offended. You said why you were and that should be the end of it. You didn't even have to explain yourself on that one, as the profanity was quite apparent, but it doesn't offend me. Kum bay ah....

Ladies.......I have a lot of respect for Dr. Weiss, and possibly she has made some very valid points.......but can we contribute some of what happens to us to "fate".......If that is not true then how do you explain 100 people dying in a plane crash, yet there is 1 who survives......how did thousands die in the tsumami, but an old woman and a child were found alive 9 days later under the rubble...........I say "fate and destiny" play a roll in it too.............Ok, what about the risk factors....I never smoked, I have rarely, almost never drink, carry none of the genes, my mother, nor any member of my family had breast cancer, had 6 children the first at 22 years old.......................so you say "hmmm, then what happened to you"..............now on the other hand...........I started my period around the age of 13, and nevr missed a cycle till I finally changed life at 56......my GYN was positively not happy about that........add to the the fact that I was overweight by lbs........not obese, but surely not the weight I should have been............So that being said.......I had risk factors for sure............but I also did not have a lot of the risk factors that are so important..............

My husband, never smoked, drank, was ideal weight, physically fit, a construction worker, ate the best food, and took care of himself amazingly..........he died at 57 from Pancreatic cancer..........explain that one........so to everyone who wants to blame themselves for what they did, or did not do I say .......................cut yourself a break..........you did nothing wrong.......it is fate, and this we must accept............My big gripe is.......stop working on better ways to find breast cancer, test for breast.............remove breast cancer..........treat breast cancer.........spend the money you receive from all the Breast Cancer Organizations, and grants, and develope a vaccine that will wipe it out completely.............yes finding it early is great, but we still end up being tested (some horribled), treated surgically,........bombarded with chemicals and radiation...........and live with the "fear of recurrance" for the rest of our lives.............SPEND YOUR MONEY ON A VACCINE FOR US, AND STOP LOOKING FOR  WAYS TO MAKE BREAST CANCER "as I have been told"....................The good cancer to get......................Yea bucko.....................easy to say when its not you who got the diagnosis.........OK, I'M THROUGH RANTING......................HUGS LADIES.

    This is pointless.

I'd suggest we all make use of the "ignore" button.  It does help to keep one's blood pressure in the normal range.

    duckyb1 -

I am so very sorry for your loss.

A great rant, and so true re: the vaccine.  Several are in trials now (including one I've taken) and I have such high hopes for all of us.

Ladies, your right...........for whatever reason we got what we got, you could go nuts with the "what ifs", "suppose I had done", suppose I had not done".............It is pointless.....I know relatives and friends who have abused there body to the point where you say "what the hell are you thinking", and they have nothing wrong with them................luck of the draw?....Whatever it is, we are on this forum to support each other, and not to be told "had you done this, had you done that...............b---s--t...............it happened, so now we put on our big girl panites, and do what we have to do................I for one will not ponder about what I did wrong......I will move forward and do what I believe is right...............As I have said so many times.............I had cancer..........it did not have me..........................hugs ladies.

Whoa!!!  Just imagine newbies finding this thread!  How badly it would represent what this forum is truly about!  I think we have drifted way off topic.

Again, I applaude Dr. Weiss for discussing lifestyle things that MIGHT contribute to BC and other cancers. I don't think she is "blaming" anyone for causing their BC.   She is not alone in discussing prevention.  I have learned a lot from a book entitled "Anticancer" by Dr. Servan Schreiber.  After a second recurrence of brain cancer, he started researching what things he was doing to "create a cancer-friendly terrain" in his body.   I am incorporating many of his tips: eliminating white flour, sugar, rice.  Eating a more anti inflammatory diet, stress management, exercise, eliminating household chemicals like harsh cleaning products, never microwaving in plastic.  Not only do I feel empowered by making these positive changes....even if they don't prevent recurrence, I will be healthier.  Why NOT do them?

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with a good, spirited argument.  When somebody posts something that others strongly disagree with they need to be able to disagree openly.

I also very much like the new feature that shows who reported a post and the fact that the reporter is then able (or forced as some think) to explain why.  It is good to know that angels posts were reported because of her use of the 'f' bomb ... a later reader might assume it was something much worse and that is not fair to her.

To say that a word written as f**k or d*mn or cr*p is more acceptable than spelling the word out is rather silly ... we all know what it means no matter how it is written.  We are all adults here.  If somebody uses too much profanity for me I can always put that poster on ignore so I don't have to see it.   IMHO

I've seen several good and touching rants here.  (((hugs))) to all ...

I believe in all those good things too.........and yes we can make an effort to eliminate some of the so called "bad things" from our diet, use green products, microwave safe dishes instead of plastic, but my problem is with because we didn't all heed the warnings that we are made to feel guilty about why we got BC to begin with...............I'm done commenting on this topic, but refuse to carry around the burden of "what did I do wrong" because I was one of the unfortunate women who got BC..............Sometimes things just happen, without explanation or reason............I will not let cancer allow me to become a victim.....................

One of my favorite quotes from Eleanor Roosevelt "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission".  I say we make our own version "No one can make you feel guilty without your permission".

DesignerMom..........your right.......no one can make you feel guilty without your permission.......however, if you read enough articles, listen to enough people sometimes you can think "hmmmmmmmmmmm" I wonder..............Well I for one will not allow that......I have no regrets about how I lived my life....I will be 76 next month, have had a mild heart attack........and now BC, but I'm not going to accept the blame for all of my misfortune...............I know I didn't do everything the way society thinks it should be done, but isn't it a little too late now to "cry over spilt milk"...............I believe if we learn from our misfortunes then there is something to be said for what happens to us,...................after going back to Page 1 of the posts about "our hand in our breast cancer"..........................no one said "fate"...................No I take that back......one post said "its a crap shoot", and that made more sense then any others I have seen...........A crap shoot is just a different way of saying "fate".................Didn't I say I wasn't going to comment anymore..............oh well, you ladies just keep me going on and on.....love ya all.
