I ordered a Solaris Tribute through Lymphedema Products on Thursday and received a shipping notice that it was picked up from Solaris the next day and will be delivered to me by Wednesday. How unusual is that for this type of custom garment?

Sher, was this a custom garment?

Yes it was.  That's why I'm finding it so hard to believe.  My suspicious mind is saying that maybe they have these premade if you fall into the right measurements.

Edited to add:  I just called Kelly at Lymphedema Products and she also thought it very unusual for the Tribute to be made so quickly.  We even wondered if perhaps Solaris was shipping the wrong item, so Kelly called Solaris and they confirmed that it is my custom Tribute that is on the way.

Well, I got it - ordered Thursday afternoon and it arrived at my home the following Tuesday afternoon.   If you subtract the 2 days it sat at UPS, only took 3 days for it to be manufactured and delivered to me.

I managed to get it on and it seems okay for fit -  feels kind of snug equally all over, but not too overly tight, I guess.  The end of the hand over the fingers is weird!  It's cut straight across instead of curve shaped to the length of my fingers which is what I was epecting.  My middle finger sticks out down to the first joint while thumb, index and ring finger stick out from the nail bed.  Pinkie finger completely inside maybe 2cm below end of the garment which is probably gonna drive nuts!  Pinkie finger also feels tighter in that it doesn't have any wiggle room at the end like all the other fingers.  Does this sound normal?  We did include a hand tracing as well as measurements.

It's unlikely I can get to my therapist until next week......if then.  We were planning on 2 weeks ahead and scheduled an appointment for that.  I'm not sure if I should try wearing it before she checks it out?  Also it's rather smelly and I have this thing that I need to wash stuff, especially before wearing to bed.  Is it okay to wash it during the fit guarantee period?

I've had it on for about 1/2 hour now, (typing one handed) and it still feels mostly okay except for little finger and the palm may be a trifle loose. But, I'm very happy to learn that my arm bends quite nicely with the Tribute on and I think I will be able to sleep pretty comfortably in it.

Sher--that business of cutting the hand straight across drives me nuts--I had my first one sent back and redone and it was too short, but now my pinkie is buried also.

    Feel free to wash it.

The fitter has complained about loose palms with them, and if it's not ajusted by Solaris, you can put a palm swell spot in the palm (but for the price, I think they should snug it up.)

The first one I got, the hand was just all wrong--and where is my swelling? In my hand. So the fitter had them make me a completely new one.

They are great about the adjustments. But we should let them know that hands are not straight!

At least some of your fingers stick out.  None of mine did and it was at least two inches too long.  My fitter didn't include a hand drawing.  hummm  I felt like my thumb was sticking out to far when I wore it.  Absolutely hate the hand thing.  So glad I sent it back and had them cut it off.

I throw mine in the washer and dryer.  Just do it early enough in the day encase it doesn't dry on the first round.  That's what happen my first time.. It felt dry on the outside to my numb fingers but when I put it on that night it was damp as could be. So now I feel it with my face.

Well, if I'd have read Solaris' accompaning booklet, I'd have noticed the Washing Instructions page for the Tribute where it states "We suggest washing your garment prior to donning it for the first time."

Kira, did Solaris ever give you a reason for the way they cut theTribute fingers off straight?  My Caresia glove is curved nicely and all my fingers are just barely inside the end.....only my middle finger protrudes just a tad.  That's a good thing since I can use the tip of that finger to turn off the touch tone lamp on my nightstand!

Also in the booklet is instructions to Adjust the Finger Spaces by "snipping a little bit at a time" which I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable doing on a $700 garment!  If the thing is CUSTOM, shouldn't it fit properly without adjustment?

Mine fits the same way: thumb ends at the joint; very tip of middle finger sticks out - rest of my hand & fingers are buried alive.  I find the whole thing gets looser between washings, and eventually, even looser with use/time.  My hand usually feels stiff when I take the sleeve off in the morning.  When my Tribute was new, I used to tuck a small peice of wool btw. my pinkie and ring finger because they felt so jammed togther but I haven't done that in ages.  I just have a mitt - no finger spacers in mine.

I also put it in washer and dryer. It takes forever to dry - I never dry it quite all the way in the dryer.  BTW - one way you can tell it's not completely dry is it's nearly impossible to put on!

Sher, No explaination for the hand design, and I felt the same way you do about snipping the several hundred dollar finger spacers!
