Beth1225 is being scammed. Pl read.
Hi. If you receive a private e-mail from Beth, please be advised that it's a SCAM. Someone stole her Verizon address book and contacted many people via e-mail like myself. Please read down below. Beth is home and she is fine and never went to London. Thanks.

Subject: Oh My God............Beth
Hi, I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, sorry I did not inform you about my trip.I actually made a quick trip to London and unfortunately attacked and mugged at gun point on the way to my hotel, all cash, credit card and cell were stolen off me but luckily I still have my passport with me but I`ve been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and my return flight leaves anytime from now but I`m having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let me leave until I settle the bills. I have nothing left on me right now but am very lucky to have my life and passports with me, it would have been worst if the muggers had made away with my passports. All i need now is just $2,450 USD, You can have it wired to my name via any Western Union Outlet around you... I'll have to show my passport as ID to pick it up here and i promise to pay you back as soon as I get back home hopefully today. Here is my info where you will wire the money to: Name: Beth Address: 6 Albemarle Street, London W1S 4HQ, United Kingdom Amount: $2,450 USD As soon as it has been done, kindly get back to me with the western union confirmation number... I'll def refund your cash as soon as i get home. Sorry for the inconvenience I owe you alot Regards. |

This is unbelievable! Scamming on a cancer site? How low can you go?
-
That's dispicable!!! But that is a really old scam. Wouldn't think to see it again nowadays.
-
This is as old as the nigerian emails. They must be really, really stupid to think it's going to work.
-
srbreastcancersurvivor- the scam isn't on BCO, I think it is happening to someone who posts on BCO who has regular email contact with people on BCO. A few weeks ago I received a similar email on behalf of someone who I hardly know, I got his phone number from the local directory and called to tell him what was going on and he answered because he was of course not in London but at home eating breakfast - he said that it was the second time it had happened to him. So yes it is like the Nigerian bank emails and the Lottery winning - and it really screws up the person whose email address book is used.
Sorry Beth and thanks for the heads up NaughtybyNature

Identity theft and this kind of scam is so widespread it is scary. I had a friend whose identity was stolen - by his own son! Talk about how low can you get? It took months to unravel everything. The son plea bargained and paid a fine and has to see a PO but he never repaid the Dad a dime. As careful as we all are we can still be victims. Some of those guys are pros and can hack into anything....remember the guy who hacked into Bill Gates account? Yikes! Am glad to know it wasnt Beth. diane
