    Barb,

There is a certain Mexican Resteraunt near me that makes frozen Margaritas and the smallest glass is the size of a beta fish tank (has about 7 shots in it).  Weds happy hour it is only $1.75 per bowl.

The first time I drank there I had to call my husband to pick me up. :)  After that, we just had a DD.

I actually belong to the Worm Eaters Club of America. Somewhere in Boise, Idaho on the wall of a restaurant, is a picture of me with a tequila worm in my mouth just before I ate it! Proud past I have....

Well Barbe, no wonder you got breast cancer.... it's the worms!  It's a well known scientifc fact that consuming worms causes breast cancer.  It's at least as well supported scientifically as a lot of the other things that have been discussed in this thread!  Wink

    Barb,

Ugh.  Mescal!!  My first experience with Tequila (actually Tequila is Mescal, but Mescal isn't necessarily Tequila...I learned this while visiting Mexico...).  I never ate the worm.  Ick.  haha

I was at a party several years ago in Cincinnati.  The pitcher for the Reds was there.  His first name was Jose Something.

That night I was drinking Jose Cuervo.  A lot.  (I'd also just gotten a HUGE spiral perm ... it was the biggest hair ever!)

In that place which makes sense to everyone with a buzz, I was certain HIS last name was Cuervo (five too many)...so I introduced him all night long as Jose Cuervo!!  lol   He just smiled and shook people's hands as I introduced him....and we passed the bottle back and forth.

I was so hungover the next day (didn't learn the drinking water thing yet) that even to this day when I SMELL Jose Cuervo (the tequila not the man, heh) I get a little ill.

And of course the big hair makes me throw up a little in my mouth. Wink

Funny but I remember the first shot of tequila I had, lime salt and everything. I was in my senior year of college. I was working as a waitress and went out to a bar with one of the waiters after our shift. We sat outside (about 1:30 AM). That was in 1983.

I now live 1/2 block from that bar… and it's still there. And the waiter, well he lives out in CA but we still keep in touch on facebook. I haven't seen him since 2001. I thnk the last time I was in that bar was the 80's.

Ah, and my first experience with tequila was in, um, high school.  but I'm willing to bet I wasn't as bad a bad girl as barbe1958.

I have a whey protein isolate powdered supplement in my pantry that I had started using right after being diagnosed but stopped when chemo. began. It has soy lecithin in it. I questioned if it would be safe to take. I am hormone positve. I guess I should just throw it out. I was hoping it would help me in the weight department and to get some of the protein my body needs.

duckyb1....you are so right!  We all go over it in our heads as to what we did that gave us cancer...but really.....nobody knows.  How do you explain that some people somehow do the supposedly 'wrong' things and live to 90 and other people who do the right things get cancer.  Maybe it is the luck of the draw.  The medical community likes to make us think that somehow it is 'our fault' for not adhereing to the rules.  My mother got lung cancer at 67 and died at 70 and was a smoker for a good chunk of her life, however, her older sister got cancer at the same age and never smoke or drank alcohol.  I told my mum at the time that it wasn't her smoking (not that smoking is a good thing) but not to blame herself because it was probably genetics.  I hated that my mum blamed herself.......it is not about that....sometimes it is luck of the draw and we can't blame ourselves.  I did turn vegan when I was diagnosed and I feel better but who cares if I eat soy....is that going to kill me?

It might not kill you, but it might cause a recurrence that might kill you. Your choice. Kiss

I have been reading "Foods That Fight Cancer" by Richard Beliveau as a follow up to Dr David Servan-Scheiber's book "Anticancer:A New Way Of Life".  Soy is talked about in terms of being an anti-cancer food that is supported by numerous studies.  However, this is the statement at the end of the 'Soy' chapter in Dr. Beliveau's book that stood out to me.

"...it is impossible, for the moment, to predict with certainty, either the positive or negative impact of soy consumption on the risk of breast cancer recurrence.  As a consequence, women with breast cancer or who are in remission should consume any dietary soy in strict moderation..."

    Good enough for me.

I'd like to know why it seems every vitamin supplement (along with just about every food) on the market today has some kind of 'soy' in it.   So many people are allergic to soy also.  I don't think they should put it in any vitamins.  I'm having a hard time trying to find soy free vitamins, although I did find a few, but not some of the ones I want.  Very disappointing.

What does this mean, "...it is impossible, for the moment, to predict with certainty, either the positive or negative impact of soy consumption on the risk of breast cancer recurrence.  As a consequence, women with breast cancer or who are in remission should consume any dietary soy in strict moderation..."

This statement tells me that we should NOT be consuming any type of soy at all, period. (my personal opinion).  I don't mean to sound angry, but I am.
