    Wow Anna your quilt is just gorgeous! The pieced animals are amazing!  I've never tried something like that............mmmmm............me thinks you've got the ol' brain cells ticking over.....lol  Oh yes, welcome to the thread!

    Yes, Chrissy, the brain cells tick away every time I get into my stash!

    I had a few extra blocks and used them for labels, Barbe. I like to go overboard in the label department.

    I made a quilt for my daughter's best friend Alex's wedding last spring. I liked it so much I made a duplicate for myself. My daughter tells me my quilt will have to move up north with her since it's so much colder there than here in Virginia. The quilt is from Kaffe Fassett's Museum Quilts and is called the Welsh Medallion quilt. I named the one I gave to Alex Field of Flowers, because I will never forget the day before my daughter's wedding in 2004 when she, Alex and I went to a local flower farm and picked masses of flowers to decorate the tent. Mostly peonies. I never even knew what peonies were before visiting that flower farm. Now they must be just about my favorite flower.

    Yes, that's a wee dog there trying to sneak into the picture. Her name is Gilly and she tells me that anything Celtic should belong to her since her ancestors are originally from Yorkshire and Yorkshire was once settled by Celtic tribes. Not little dogs, though.

    Anna, I just can't believe those animals aren't paper pieced!  That must have been difficult to do.  Found out today my MRI was benign so I'm going to celebrate by sewing!  Dragon

    Anna, that quilt is beautiful !  Peonies are amazing flowers and if I had a favourite flower they would be one......does that make sense?....probably not...lol.  I just love all flowers!

    Anna, love your quilts. The applique is so cute and the medallion really beautiful. Love the color choices.

    Meece, what pattern did you use for the scarves? I've been trying to knit one and keep having to take it apart because the size just isn't working. How wide did you make it? and how long???? I don't think I can take it apart many more times and still use the thread. Smile I'm just trying to "wing" it....

    The scarves are crochet, and they are about 5 inches wide, 48 inches long.  Some of them were just double crochet the whole way through.  I just kida of make them up as I go, depending on the yarn.

    Thanks for sharing. Keep posting any other projects finished or underway. I really appreciate seeing things 'in process' as that is all the more inspiring to me.

    I have a favor to ask.

    I started a new project, guess it was just too stressful to be clearing up too many of them.  I have started a Grandmother's garden quilt and am doing the top completely by hand!

    Meece--love the grandmother's flower garden!  I restored an old 30's style one a few years back and it's true, it has to be done by hand.  I love hand work though.  Am starting a cute embroidered purse--have 2 quilts going also.  And some other purses.  Wow, I better not start anything else.  My UFO (unfinished object) pile is big enough.  Have to have another minor surgery--that will give me a couple of days on the couch to embroider.  Dragon (quilting fool!!!)

    I had decided I needed a laptop project for waiting rooms and car rides.  Here is my first "Block":

    Once all the blocks are complete I will choose a background color to connect them all.

    I have seen a Grandmother's Garden quilt and I think they are beautiful but I think I would need some tuition before attempting one.  Your first block looks great Meece and I can't wait to see more as you progress!  Still knitting this scarfe in between all the normal household things that I am now able enough to catch up on.....yay......but it makes a simple scarfe a huge prolonged project!

    I am heading to my onc on Thursday so I figured I could use a lap project.  We are also traveling with a group to LA Saturday, so maybe I can get another block done then. 

    My mother has her grandmother's Grandmother's Garden quilt.  The story goes that she had told her family that if she ever made one, it was because she was going crazy.  She made this one in her final weeks because she was suffering from cancer and she used it to keep her mind off of that.

    Oh please!  The fabrics although limited were very interesting in their colors and pattern.  I am old enough to remember some of them...lol.   I wonder if they differed much between countries?

    That would be interesting to see as well.

    I will certainly take some clsoe ups of the fabrics.  A few years ago I was looking for fabric to back a quilt top my grandmother started before she passed.  I found a selection of retro fabrics, and wish I had picked up more.

    Not all the quilting stores here carry a lot of the retro fabrics but usually you can find half a dozen different ones.  I just can't help myself when I go to these stores but my stash has just grown and grown until I'm running out of room....lol.  Now I just need a bit more time to do more work so I can start buying again!  Wouldn't that be lovely!

    I am still using out of my stash from 20 years ago.  I never seem to be able to really put alot of fabrics away to stash, I usually buy fo ra specific project, but buy extra.

    I go to the store thinking I just need a little bit of fabric to lift the present project what ever it is and end up walking out of the store with a heap more of the ones 'I just couldn't resist'!  For now, I'm trying to stay away from the stores so I'm not tempted.
