Hey Bonnie, are you still on Tamoxifen, if so aches and pains are a side-effect? That and lots of arthritis and peripheral neuropathy have made me feel like I'm twice my age. Well, maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but it's pretty dare close.
It's been raining here all night and all day today, so I'm being real lazy today, not much reason to get even out my pj's, but I have to walk the dog.
Hope your doing better with depression, they upped the Celexa I have to take, since they discovered I'm allergic to the pain blockers. They don't want me to get to depressed over the pain, in my feet and hands, let alone worry about the world going to hell in a hand basket. That will put things into perspective now won't it. I think I had better turn off the news.
Good to hear from you Bonnie, take care.
-
Hi LeggyJ I am not on tamoxifen as I just couldn't handle it and so he put me on letrazole instead, so maybe that is what is giving me all the trouble. Are you on Tamozifen?
Where in California do you live as I have been down their a few times and we were thinking of maybe this summer driving down the coast. That is if everything is okay around here. My daughter went into the hospital at the beginning of January for a hysterectomy, she also has crones and has to wear a bag ( can't remember what they call that) anyway so far she has had 2 operations then was transferred to another hospital and the Dr. told her she can expect to be in there for another 3 or 4 months and then another operation because the 1st dr. left her bowels twisted and then the second surgeon said he would fix it and didn't that is when she asked to be transferred to another hospital this time in Edmonton and the new surgeon said she was so full of infection that they are tube feeding her and giving her meds. for the infection. Then when they get that all under control he will operate and fix it properly. She is reporting the other 2 surgeons and I told her she should sue them. Will see what happens. Always something happening around here it seems although I am on vancouver island and all my kids are in Alberta, so not easy to visit.
Anyway I should stop talking get started and I don't know when to stop.
You take care of yourself

Hi girls. I have been reading. I have been working and fighting chest congestion. I hope that is all it is anyway. Bonnie, that is horrible about your daughter. My gawd, she has really been through it. I am so sorry for her and that you are so far from her. I am still on the tamoxifen. I can't feel safe not taking it but I certainly feel the side effects. I don't know if when I see my new onc in May I will be switched to some AI or what. I know they all stink! Leggy, hope you get your pain managed. What a life eh? How are you liking your new toyota? Does wolfie? like it? Hope I remembered the name. Today is green day and I didn't even wear green. I totally forgot. Maybe I was hoping someone would pinch me and wake me up from this rollorcoaster ride we are on! Kare, hope you are well also. Still saving up my leave time for a real vacation. Probably going to be more fun to plan and anticipate that the actual trip...LOL! Especially the cost! Oh well, we only go round once I guess cause I don't think we have 9 lives like a cat does. Take care girls and big hugs! Kelle, almost forgot ya....I am totally empty upstairs. Hope you are having fun or had fun on the beach! HunkyD
-
Hi all, Yes Bonnie, I'm on Tamoxifen and probably will be for quite some time....Today I got out of the house for a hair cut, and walked Wolfie(yes you got his name right, HD). He loves it, I put him in the cargo area with a blanket and his bed, and don't even see his little head pop up, until I stop somewhere. Just as we get walking, it starts raining, but I don't mind the rain when I don't have to work in it. This whole winter when it's been pouring, I thank God I don't have to work in this. I was down in St. Helena the other day to go grocery shopping, and it was a nice day, and thought about going up to Auberge to see my co-workers, but just can't bring myself to go up there. I don't want anyone to see me walking with a cane, and I don't want to meet the girl who now has my job.
Hey Hundy, where are you thinking about going on vacation? I think you all should come to CA before we get the big one! An earthquake that is. Funny, people are really getting freaked out about it, my mother included. She went down to the store today and bought 6 gallons of water, just in case. She's been all worried about the radiation, blowing in from Japan. So I told her she should make herself a hat out of aluminium foil....She didn't think that was to funny. I did.
Bye for now!
-
Maybe Hunky's next avatar will have an aluminum hat? Kelly
-
I feel safer now....thanks Kelly and Leggy! HD
Edited to add: Really nothing funny about this tragedy in Japan. I am so sorry for the people there. I will only wear the foil temporarily. It doesn't feel well at night and interferes with our Dish satellite receiver!
-
LOL!!!!!! Even my mother thought that was funny! I like your style HD.

Hi Ladies
Well, I think spring is here. the robins are out. We still have cold weather, some mix snow/rain next week but I don't think it will last.
So glad to hear how everyone is doing. I do wonder where Wyoming is though.?? Hunkyd, your avatar is too funny...lol. I agree it is so tragic in Japan, I hope they can get a handle on the nuclear meltdown.
Are you all on a yearly checkup now?? I see the onc in July. Weird, that there is aches, pains and all kinds of weird sensations going on and I have no idea if this is normal anymore.
Still counting my days until first, my daughter leaves for her trip which is May 2nd and she is gone through europe for 27 days and then meeting her in Glasgow Scotland on May 31st. Why is it so hard being a mom in the sense that you worry before anything is even happening.
Anyway, hope you are all having a good sunday.
Karen

Today it's official, I'm now a senior citizen
. The first day of spring, is the only thing I'm celebrating, I'm 55yrs old, it's raining, and I really have nothing to do, except read a book...Oh well, it's just another day, and I did buy myself a great birthday present, which is sitting out in my carport. Maybe I should put a big bow on it, just for something to do, nah to wet and cold out there, it's 11:30am and I'm still in my pj's. Why not! I'm retired, and I can do whatever I want, right!
I have never used these emoticons before, but there's a first time for everything.
Thanks for listening to my rant, time for breakfast before it's lunchtime.
-
Hey Leggy, soak it all in. Enjoy and happy birthday! Tomorrow is a work day for me. It was icky weather here too. No spring in sight really yet. I usually go to bed by 7 or 8 on work nights so I can make it up in the morning. TaTa....HD

LeggyJ
Is 55 the retirement age in the USA, here it is 65 and you get an old age pension and a Canada pension between the two doesn't amount to much.
Just spent 3 days in hospital, nothing to do with cancer, I just couldn't stop coughing and new I had a fever so it was Friday night and the only thing I could do was just go up to emergency and see if I could get some antibiotics. Took chest x-ray and heart for some reason and they were both okay so I said well I will just take the antibiotics and go home. He wanted me to just have one more blood test, fine calls me into a room and says you are not going anywhere because you are diabetic the numbers were quite high I guess. Every 2 hrs all night they would come and poke my finger for blood (oh that was a lot of fun) anyway I am home now with another dozen pills to take (not really a dozen) just seems like it. Now I have another thing to worry about. He said I will have to eat properly no sugar ,bread, potatoes - he just crossed out my whole menu lol. Then to top that off he said to walk for half an hour every day which I should be doing anyway. Just blowing a little steam off here, sorry guys
-
Bonnie, can you just become diabetic like that? I had no idea. So, now you do have another thing to concern yourself with. that sucks.
Sandy, Let us know what happens after the scan. This never seems to end for anyone.
LeggyJ...Happy Birthday. Did you have some delicious cake??
HunkyD...I am like you , need my bed earlier to cope with going to work. I don't know where the energy has gone.
Kelly..How are you??
Well, I am at work, but had down time so thought I would see how everyone is doing.
Have a good day. It is snowing here today...
-
Thank you KKing for the birthday wish, and I had a cake and ice cream!!! Bonnie, I have to watch my sugar too, since I'm borderline, for me it's the potatoes that's hard to give up.
The retirement age in the USA is 65, but I had to go on Social Security Disability, which isn't much here either, but I also had disability insurance through work, so I'm doing OK, for now at least. The peripheral neuropathy in my feet has become very painful and at times, during the day I can barely walk. As it turns out I was allergic to the pain blockers, and at this time there isn't anything else, except opiates, which I'm loath to take but have no alternative. There are trials underway, since diabetic's get this frequently, that's why you need to be very careful of your feet. My father had adult onset diabetes, he ended up losing a foot, after fighting rectal cancer, and degenerative heart disease, he gave up when they took his foot, His heart gave out, but he was a fighter, god knows he fought with me all his life. Everything was his way or the highway, and I had to hit the road quite a few times, as a young girl "back in the day".....To many stories to tell.
Bye for now
-
kk - yes you can get it just like that I had no idea except it is in the family my mom and a brother both have it, but I thought by now I didn't have to worry and oh yes bread and potatoes are one of the main things they mention and are my favorite things to eat and I love fruit and can only have 2 a day and juice is included with that.
leggyJ- I have heard that you can't be borderline you either are or you are not - just something I heard but don't know how true it is - it is supposed to be between 4 - 8 they said not 19. so the best thing to do is check yourself - if you have a friend that has a machine or ask your dr.
Hi to everyone I didn't mention sorry about that just have to go and lay down for awhile
-
Hi ladies,
I saw my onc yesterday, the lump on my face is nothing to worry about. Praise the Lord. TM are still rising adn the onc asked me to consider the removal as a treatment. She says it is an older treatment and sometimes. She does not suggest it often, tha last was about 6 years ago. My surgeon holehartedly aggreed with her, so I see a gyn next Tuesday at 8 in the morning to schedule surgery, my surgeon has already reviewed my case with the gyn. Nothing more to say except i hear my DH talking to MNL about going strawberry picking in the morning. I be glad to take my chair and watch him.
Love to all and if i missed anything I'm sorry have a good night.
Sandy

Hi all, Bonnie your probably right on that, it's been a year and my memory is a bit foggy. After my cholesterol test, they said my sugar level was high and that I had to bring it down by diet and exercise, which I did and they said "good girl", well see ya next year....My brother is also on meds. for his ch., but that will be a tough one for him, since his wife was a chef.
It's been pouring buckets of rain for days, and likely will continue until Sunday. I couldn't convince Wolfie into a walk, and after a quick pee, he dragged me inside, just before a hugh down pour. Not a dog day afternoon!
I'm reading a romance novel, and staying warm. Take care ya"ll!
-
Let's see, I finished my romance novel and now I'm reading "The Broker", by Patterson, it's still raining, and I feel like it's about damn time for spring. Right now I'm listening to my favorite CD, by Brenda Russel, a very soulful singer whose greadest hit was "He playes piano in the dark", what a sexy song....To bad I'm alone.
-
Leggy, it snowed here today. Rain, snow, wind. I too am ready for spring. Glad you are able to enjoy some books. I sometimes do download an audio book and can listen at work when I am doing mundane tasks. Enjoy! Sandy, hope you are doing well. Please keep us updated. We are the last of the group. Hugs to Bonnie, Kathy, and Kelly! HD

Hello everyone, I am in Florida visiting my brother. Destin Florida. It is very white sand almost makes you think it is snow until you feel the warmth. It has been a warm week but today is rainy so I am off to the spa with my sister in law. A massage and getting our nails done. I can't use the hot tub as my feet are so sensitive.
I have been pretty tired and can't sleep even with meds here so maybe I can rest during the massage. I tried taking the ambien CR and it makes me really sick in the morning so had to stop that. Otherwise we are all enjoying the break. I really notice that I am saying a lot of words in the wrong context now. My family says I am more sensitive to it but of course they don't know I have cancer in my brain yet. I am trying not to think about it until my next MRI. It could be worse...
I am lucky to be here, glad there were a few posts.. I should find out how to post from my phone. Does anyone do that? Kelly
-
Kelly I don't know where I have been, but I was very surprised when you said that you have cancer in your brain. How long have you known about this or is it something new? I know you can post by phone but I am not sure how, not to bright in that area, but my daughter is in hospital with her phone and she posts to facebook all the time, so I don't think this will be any different. Do you have the Internet on your phone? I would love to be in florida right now sitting in the nice warm sand - can almost feel it. Well kiddo you take good care of yourself and hopefully your next MRI will be a whole lot better.
Hi to Hunky, Leggy, SanDee, KKing, and Wyoming if she is just reading these and not feeling like posting, I am sure we would all like to know what is happening with Wyoming. Take care everyone and have a nice weekend.
-
It's down right hot here, the weather went from rain to 87degrees yesterday. I took the opportunity to go to the beach, and have a crab sandwich and clam chowder. Wow was it good. My dog, Wolfie had so much fun at the beach, he was all smiles.
Kelly, I know you must have told us, like Bonnie said, but hearing it now that you have cancer in the brain kind of shocked me too. I guess I must have forgotten, but then I do that quite often, and I have a hard time talking and walking at the same time, so I understand that part of it. I'm glad your having a good time in Florida, dear sister, remember we love you.
My aunts husband passed away last week, he had a kidney transplant, but shortly after he got an infection and it was to much for him. She has a house in Montana, on Flathead Lake, and I'm going to try this summer and visit with her, after all now that I'm not working I can go whenever I want. I haven't been to Montana, since I was a teenager, so I want to stay awhile and visit relatives, and there's lots of them in Montana.
Here it's after midnight and I can't sleep....again. I guess I better try. Night all!
-
Hi girls. Kelly, I am sorry because I too didn't remember you talking about some brain mets. Are you doing cyberknife or anything? I know you will choose what is best for you. I am glad you are able to enjoy some good time with your brother. I need to do that more myself. I do have a smart phone that I can post from. It is just like computer other than a challenge for me as i am not good at the texting on the little phone. I do love having the power of of having internet access anywhere I have 3G service. I can also tether my laptop to my phone and use my computer that way on trips, etc. Hey, I am having cataract surgery the end of the month. I know it is easy surgery except on the pocket book...anybody else been through it? Hi to all the regulars, and Sandy...hope you are doing ok. I was out sick for 3 days last week but am back at work this week. Next week...maybe vacation without pay if gov shuts down! Leggy.....give wolfie a big ol' scratch behind the ear for me! Hugs to all....Miss Hunkydory
-
Hi everybody,
Hunky I had cataract surgery on both eyes about a year ago. One at a time of course they can't do both because as the Dr. said if something were to go wrong they don't want it to happen to both eyes. Actually there is nothing to it, easiest surgery I have ever had. The best part of course is that you can see a lot better, I didn't even need my glasses just some cheap reading glasses from the store.
Well have to go now but a big hug for everyone
Bonnie

Hello All
Seems like I am always the last to post these days. I say the gyn oncologist and he says the shot I am taking once a month, Luprin, does the same thing as removing the overies. So I am not having that surgery, at least as far as I know. More blood work for tumor markers Monday morning and see the onc assistant on Thursday. I don't feel any different than I did 6 months ago. They ask if I'm having any pain anywhere, I say no more than usual. It seems like when something hurts I stop and have to remember if I've had pain in that spot before, so far I have.
Kelly, my prayers are with you.
LOL Sandy
-
Hi girls, I'm just checking in, nothing new here really. I do have a realestate agent coming today, to see what she thinks I can sell my house for. Not enough I'm sure.
Hope your all having a lovely time.
Leggy
-
Hi everyone. I am just checking in too. I have been feeling not too bad lately. I did have a bad MRI experience though.
I didn't think I was claustrophobic but had a melt down last week when I had to do a last minute MRI on my neck to check for mets. I think it was stress, being tired, and then when they put headphones on me and I couldn't hear what the tech was saying to me that pushed me over the edge. I had to squeeze that little bulb for them to pull me out and I really think I was whimpering, although I am not usually, or I think ever, a whimperer
Maybe a pre med when I go back this Sunday for the next one. I am on the fence about just rescheduling for later... lots later.
It is spring here in Colorado. When I walked out of the library today I noticed lots of trees with green buds and pink flowers. Nice. How is it everywhere else? Kelly
-
Spring has sprung here in Calistoga, CA! It's been high 60's to low 70's! Kelly, did you enjoy your vacation??? I wonder how KKing is doing, and isn't she in Scotland?
-
HEY tHERE
Tha calendar says Spring in SW Florida, BUT IT FEELS LIKE jULY, IN THE LOW 90'S. Had blood work this past Monday and see teh onc assistant this Thursday. Hubby and I are talking about going to the Mofitt Cancer Center in Tampa to see if they can find where the cancer is if it is back. Hubby has lost all his patience and he says I just don't care (really I have a whole lot more patience then he does).
Kelly, I know how you feel. When I had the last cat scan, I could hear the voice but didn't understand a word he was saying. I asked afterwards and he said don't move, don't breath. wow
All for now
LOL Sandy
